Forging in The Forge– this is not just a way to get another sword or helmet. The entire game system is built around this craft: you mine ore, smelt it, watch how the metal obediently changes shape, and eventually get an item that can bring you money or strengthen you in battle. If you want to understand this system as confidently as an old blacksmith in his own workshop, it is worth understanding how the quality of creation works, what the odds are made of, and why the whole process works the way it does.
Where to find an anvil in The Forge
When you first appear in the world of The Forge, you are greeted by the calm Stonewake’s Cross(Stonewake Cross). Near the spawn point there is a large forge, near which Sensei Moro usually stands. This is where all the forging magic happens. The initial tasks lead you to creating your first set of equipment, but if you rushed through them too quickly, you probably might have missed something.
How to forge in The Forge
Before you start work, you need ore – at least three units. If it's not there, you'll have to go into the mine and swing a pickaxe. At the very beginning it seems a little monotonous, but without this step the forging simply will not begin. Once the resources are collected, you can open the forge menu. The system will prompt you to choose what you plan to create – weapons or armor. This choice only affects the list of possible results, and not the process itself, so there is no need to worry about it in advance.
After choosing the type of item, the main stage of preparation begins: adding ore to boiler. The inventory on the right shows all your ores, and you can use up to four different types at once. The main thing is that there are at least three of them in total. Ore combinations affect the chances of creating specific items: if you want to increase the drop rate of a certain piece of equipment, experiment with the amount and types of ore. But it is worth remembering an important rule: there is no guarantee here anyway. Even at 67 percent, the chance remains a chance, and getting another item is quite possible.
On the left side of the screen there is a windowForge Chances(chances of creation) – a table showing the likelihood of creating each item. This is where you need to look if you want to understand what can come out of your mixture. However, there is no point in counting on accuracy down to unity. Probabilities provide insight into what can be created, but do not promise results.
When the ore is loaded, the choice is made and a free slot in the equipment Yes, you can press the Forge! button. After this, a chain of mini-games will begin – they determine the quality of crafting.
Quality is not just a number. It affects the characteristics of the final item and its value if you are going to sell it. Theoretically, you can get your hands on it to the point where you will consistently get good quality, but the game still leaves room for mistakes, accidents and small errors.
Mini-games for crafting
The first step is blowing the bellows. It's simple: you hold the button and move it up and down, filling the chamber with air. The indicator on the right shows progress. If you stop moving, the filled gauge decreases slowly, but decreases. The task is to maintain the pace.
The more ore you have loaded, the longer this stage lasts. For beginners it may seem difficult, but in reality this is where you set the rhythm of the entire forging. Slowness or inexperience at this stage reduces the final quality.
The next part is keeping the white line inside the yellow zone. The system resembles a primitive but unnerving reaction test. The white line behaves unpredictably: sometimes it smoothly creeps up, sometimes it falls sharply down. Your job is to keep it inside the yellow zone by pressing or holding the button to rise.
As long as the white line is within the zone, the bottom bar will gradually fill up. From time to time the zone suddenly shifts and you have to react almost instantly. This challenge doesn't reset your progress if you mess up a bit, but it still affects quality.
Next comes the simplest stage – breaking a block. You must quickly click on the block until it breaks. A blank for your future item appears under it. It looks unfinished – without individual elements that will be added later.
Then the final stage begins, which most people find the most difficult due to timings. A circle appears on the screen, and around it is another outer circle, which gradually narrows. You need to click at the moment when both circles coincide. The system evaluates your actions: Perfect, Good, Bad. A series of such clicks fills the scale at the bottom. If you loaded a lot of ore into the forge, the stage will be longer.
An additional complication is that the rate at which the circles narrow is constantly changing. Sometimes they go slowly and predictably, sometimes they accelerate so quickly that it is easy to miss. If you have a weak connection or play with lags, the situation becomes more complicated: the game can throw two circles at once, and then it is almost impossible to press perfectly.
When the last challenge is completed, the mini-games end and a short cutscene appears: your item is cooled in the water, and then a window opens with characteristics. The parameters of the item, its value and quality are displayed here. The higher the quality, the more useful the item. After acceptance, it is sent to inventory.
If this is your first time creating a specific type of item, you will get a small bonus. There is an Index tab in your inventory where you can collect rewards for new recipes. To get into it, press T on PC, open the red Forge tab and select the desired item.
How ores affect the result
Although the game does not reveal the exact formulas, the general rule is clear: the combination of ores sets the direction, but does not guarantee the outcome. The higher the rarity of the ore, the more it affects the chance of obtaining more valuable items. However, The Forge has no concept of a perfect set. Even if you use the same ore, the result may be different, and rare ore will not necessarily yield a rare item. This is done on purpose so that forging remains a process, and not simply inserting materials according to a template.
If you are just starting to understand the system, the best way to understand the impact of ore is experiment. Try different combinations, monitor the Forge Chances window and compare the results. Over time, you will develop your own preferences and rules that will help you predict at least general trends.
The quality of creation and its role
Crafting Quality is an indicator that determines the strength and value of an item. High quality means increased stats, and if you plan to sell items, it's also a reason to earn more. Quality is affected by everything: the speed of mini-games, accuracy, amount of ore, and even the time it takes to complete stages.
How to increase the chances of a good result
The only universal way is to master mini-games. Each of them scales in duration depending on the amount of ore. If you added four different species instead of the same three, prepare for longer stages. Sometimes this works to your advantage because it makes it easier to maintain the desired rhythm. Sometimes it’s the other way around. It all depends on your playing style and the level of your own skills.

It works precisely because it forces you to participate in every step: fanning the bellows, holding the lines, catching the perfect moment of impact. If you accept these mechanics as part of the game and not as an obstacle, forging will begin to be fun and rewarding.
