In Genshin Impact, the Distorted Expansion is a secret quest in the world of Natlan, which requires you to first deal with certain Twilight Mimifloras in Ochkatlan, and then find and read Kenin's journal. In this guide, we will tell you what you need to do to get and complete this quest.
How to Start the Distorted Expansion Quest
Where to Find Kenin
Before you start looking for this character, you must complete the entire quest chain “Lost Traveler in the Abode of Ash” in order to open the locations you need. Then move to the teleporter located in the underground part of Ochkatlan.
Glide off the edge of the cliff below towards the makeshift camp. Here you will find a Saurian-like warrior named Kenin – talk to him. He will advise you to leave here. Unfortunately, this will not lead to the start of the quest.
In order for the quest to finally begin, you will need to find and defeat 5 Dusk Mimifloras, which are scattered in different corners of Ochkatlan. They will imitate Kenin's compatriots, forcing him to help you in battle (this is one of the clues indicating that you have found the right monster).
The map above shows the approximate location of the necessary enemies. Below we will tell you in detail how to get to them (you can destroy them in any order).
Twilight Mimiflora 1
Teleport to the waypoint on the southeastern island, then jump off the cliff and glide northeast to another island. You will find a purple ruin guardian on the beach – attack him and deal with him.
Note that this enemy is quite dangerous, since at first you will need to remove his shield by attacking him with elemental attacks (best with the Night Spirit property). At the same time, he deals significant damage, so try to dodge his attacks or apply a shield in advance. Then talk to Kenin and open the rich chest.
Twilight Mimiflora 2
Move to the teleporter at the top of Ochkatlan, and then start going down, going east. At the bottom, you will find a purple automaton of the mysterious source. Engage in a fight with the enemy. Kenin will help you in the fight again. Remove the shield from the enemy and deal with the mimiflora. Then chat with the warrior and open the rich chest (there will be dry purpleberries in it).
Twilight Mimiflora 3
Teleport to the previous waypoint again, but this time turn around and jump down. Then run to the next cliff and go down even lower. At the bottom, you will find a purple rich chest – interact with it, after which a twilight mimiflora will immediately appear, which you will need to defeat.
Next, talk to Kenin again, who will talk nonsense. Don't forget to open the real rich chest that will appear a little ahead.
Twilight Mimiflora 4
From the previous location, start running north to the edge of the cliff, and then jump down onto the stone platform. Here you will find purple legs sticking out of the ground. Touch them to spawn an enemy that you will need to defeat quickly. As usual, first remove the shield from him.
Talk to the warrior again. He will tell you about the ancient tyrant ruler of this place, who supposedly knew how to stop the corruption of the Abyss. Then take the contents of the rich chest.
Twilight Mimiflora 5
Now move to the southern teleporter of the area, turn the camera to the left and jump from the bridge down to the entrance to the dilapidated tower. Open the grated door by interacting with the switch on the right. After that, a Twilight Mimiflora will immediately appear, which you will have to destroy.
Enter the opened building, click on the purple chest and deal with another enemy. Talk to Kenin again, who will say that he needs to return to the waterfall. Take the contents of the real rich chest.
Read the diary
Now return to the place where you first met Kenin. You will not find the warrior in the camp, but you will find his diary, which will be indicated by an arrow – read it. After that, you will start the corresponding quest.
Walkthrough of the quest “Distorted Expansion”
Explore the bottom of the waterfall and break the strange stone
Go to the edge of the ledge and jump down to the pool where the waterfall falls. Here you will see a pile of boulders that need to be destroyed – use any type of attack.
Find the Sound Source and Defeat “Kenin”
Behind the rocks you will find Kenin's corpse – examine it. Then follow the source of the sound, climbing the stone stairs. Having climbed to the platform, you will find a Saurian-like warrior here – engage in battle with him.
When you knock down the enemy's shield, a Twilight Mimiflora will appear, which you will have to deal with. Once you do this, you will complete the quest, receiving 150 Adventure Points, 20 Primogems, and 25,000 Mora as a reward.
In addition, you will unlock the “Who Am I?” achievement, which gives 5 more Primogems, and receive an amazing chest where you will find the blueprint for the “Wooden Target: Training Plan” decor item.
