In Silent Hill fpuzzles are not just mechanics, but part of the story itself. Each of them reveals the character of the heroine, connects reality with memories and ancient legends. By solving them, you don't just move through the plot, but step by step you get closer to understanding what really happened in Ebisugaoka.
All puzzles and their solutions in Silent Hill f
Altar
The first ritual altar is found almost at the very beginning of the game. You need to place the offering items on the correct stands. The right combination opens the way further. In a separate article you will find combinations suitable for each difficulty level.
Ema tablets
In this episode you need to find ema – wooden tablets on which, traditionally, temple visitors write their wishes. To go further, you need to find the correct ema, guided by the clue poem and at the same time fighting the immortal monster.
After finding the tablets, you can open the passage to the Treasury. A detailed solution to the riddle for all difficulty levels is given in a separate guide.
Field with Scarecrows
Perhaps one of the most atmospheric riddles in the game. You need to guess the right scarecrow on the field so that Hinako can get out of the thick fog. Each scarecrow has a thorn that needs to be pulled out, and the solution lies in the clue phrases from the scarecrow with a bag on its head.
If you don’t figure out which “schoolboy” will show Hikano the right path, the girl will endlessly wander in the fog or be beaten to death by aggressive monsters. To get out of the field as quickly as possible, we recommend that you read the guide to this riddle.
Ebisugaoka High School
Here, Hinako will have to solve several interconnected puzzles – open Rinko's secret drawer, lockers with padlocks of other schoolchildren and find the key to the gate in order to move further in the plot. Each difficulty level has its own version of solving puzzles – we examined them in detail in a separate article.
Worship Hall
After school, Hinako finds herself in the Hall of Worship, where she must find her three friends while making her way through the intricate labyrinths. We talked about how to find Sakuko and solve the puzzle with the cells in a separate guide.
In order to get to Rinko, you need to collect 3 coats of arms with a fox, just as to get to Shu, we will need to find several memorable items related to the joint past of Hinako and Shu. We also told you where to find all the necessary items in the complete guide.
The Shimizu Family House
When Hinako first crosses the threshold of the Shimizu family house, the atmosphere is oppressive from the first seconds. And it is within these walls that the heroine will have to face three riddles, without solving which it will be impossible to move forward in the plot of Silent Hill f.
The main one is the door to Hinako’s room. It can only be opened by collecting special hexagons hidden in different parts of the distorted house. To find them, you need to explore alternative versions of the house, looking through Hinako's memories, and also solve other puzzles: hanging photographs correctly, placing objects on scales. The solution paths differ depending on the ending, and all of them can be found in our separate guide.
Wall painting
A huge mural of a procession of foxes is the culmination of the symbolism of Silent Hill f. Here you need to place three emblems – a fox mask, a white sparrow and a black sparrow in certain slots. A clue is given by a poem nearby on the wall, but the solution depends on the ending you go to. If you don’t want to rack your brains, you can find the required combination for each ending in a separate guide for this riddle.
Crimson Water
This puzzle becomes available only when you start NG+. Your goal is to make the water in the shrine turn crimson by striking the correct bells in time with the shishi-odoshi. After completing the ritual, you will be able to purify the Sacred Sword – this is necessary to obtain the Silence ending in Ebisugaoka. Read about how to do this in a detailed guide.
Puzzles in Silent Hill are not just tests of attentiveness. Each of them is part of the heroine’s emotional journey: from rituals and sacrifices to an attempt to cleanse herself and accept her fate. From the first altar to the final mural and the ritual of the crimson water, all these trials are woven into a single story. If you want to complete the game 100%, be sure to take a look at the separate guides for each of the puzzles; all the details are covered there, from hidden clues to variations of solutions at different difficulty levels.
