In God of War Ragnarok, armor sets are an important part of Kratos' equipment, which can greatly increase his stats and give him special bonuses. A total of 22 sets of armor for the main character can be found in nine worlds. In this guide, we'll list the stats and passive abilities of each set, as well as how to get them.
In addition, you can learn about the best armor sets for the early, mid and late game. Some of them provide constant healing, others increase defense, and still others increase attack. We add that Kratos' companions can also wear different armor, but they are only cosmetic in nature, that is, they do not affect the attributes of Atreus or Freya in any way.

The best armor sets in God of War Ragnarok
Best Nidavellir Armor + Raven's Tears Armor (Early Game)
We recommend that you combine your Raven's Tears bracers and belt for a 30% healing boost with Nidavellir's best Chestpiece, which will increase Vitality, which is extremely important in first half of the campaign. In addition, you will be grabbing a stunned enemy (R3) quite often early on.
< p>Immediately after the start of the battle, throw an ax at any opponent, and then start hitting him with your bare hands. This tactic greatly speeds up the triggering of Poison Vans. Based on this, you can build your own battle strategy, for example, focus on the strongest enemies or scatter the weaker mobs first. Most importantly, do not forget that blocking and parrying also allow you to activate the skill.
However, even if you choose to completely ignore these three actions, you can still find other sources of poisoning enemies – in this case, the damage bonus will also work. Among other things, this kit gives a significant increase in performance, so it allows you to feel good in battle up to about level 7, inclusive. After that, you should look for more powerful armor.
Berserker Armor (for late game)
The best balanced set in the game, as it significantly increases the strength of the hero, but at the same time increases his other parameters. Bonuses will also pleasantly surprise you, especially Soul Explosions, which not only deal a lot of damage to enemies, but also reduce the cooldown of the relic, making it possible to spam extremely powerful abilities much more often.
However, not every relic can get the maximum effect – we strongly recommend combining this set with the Skofnung hilt, given out for killing King Hrolf Kraka. This incredibly powerful relic unleashes 12 spectral swords that attack all nearby enemies.
Dragonscale armor + Berserker armor (best for parrying)
So, we advise you to wear Berserker legguards, and also a breastplate and bracelets made of Dragonscale. In such a build, you need to block and parry as many enemy attacks as possible. Although the buff is activated after the first block or parry, but if you endure a couple more hits, the effect will be even better.
Although in practice you will most likely counterattack after the first repulse of an enemy attack. Plus, the Soulless Rebuke passive from the Berserker set piece will trigger even if you take damage.
There are several other methods to enhance this build. From the relics, we advise you to take the Talisman of Meing, which increases melee damage for 10 seconds. Weapon upgrades, such as the Hilt of Brutal Might, can have a similar effect, although this requires capturing a stunned enemy. Since this is a different buff, it can co-exist with Dragon's Fury, making for a very interesting combo.
The biggest drawback of the build is that it does nothing to improve Kratos' Vitality. For this reason, we recommend choosing Valor from all Spartan Wrath abilities. Combine it with the Weighted Shield Frame, which grants a burst of rage on parry to increase the hero's safety. Plus, if you can time your Valor right and parry it, you'll not only get an even bigger health boost, but also an extra melee attack bonus.
Later, you can enchant the amulet with the Stone Idol of Souls, which will restore a small amount of rage and hit points when attacking enemies for several seconds. If you still don't have enough healing, then you can change Berserker's legguards to Raven's Tears belt.
Steinbjorn Armor (best for defense)
Since you can only get the Berserker armor at the very end of the game, this set can be a good replacement for it, which will allow you to survive even the most difficult trials of the final missions. Steinbjorn's Armor provides so much Defense that the final figure may not even fit on the UI panel, and thanks to Bloodthirsty and Stunning Retribution, you will constantly regenerate your health and often knock down opponents.
If you don't like parrying enemy attacks and don't want to die from two or three hits from bosses, then this set will be the perfect solution for you. Even the strongest opponent will not deal you much damage, which you can quickly restore with lifesteal. In addition, you can automatically perform a counterattack.
Guiding Light Armor (best for attack)
This set increases Strength and adds various Luck-based boosters to the hero's attacks. For example, you will deal critical hits accompanied by an explosion when fighting at close range. To unlock the full potential of Guiding Light Armor, it should be used with Chaos Blades, as they have fast combos, allowing you to constantly gain buffs and cause explosions.
Again, in the end game, this set is better to replace with the Berserker set, which can increase attack even more and has less restrictions.
