In Dead Space 2023 Remake, weapon upgrades are special items that allow you to open new branches in the weapon upgrade tree and get an additional power node. In this guide, we will tell you where you can find all these weapon upgrades and how to use them.
How to upgrade weapons in Dead Space 2023
Note that there are 21 weapons in total in the game weapon modification module. By doing this, you will unlock the “Built to Order” achievement. Finding them is also required to unlock the Maxed Out trophy, which requires you to fully upgrade all weapons, costume, stasis, and kinesis.
Using these items is extremely simple: after finding an improvement, go to the nearest workbench and install it in a specific combat tool. Thus, you will only open up additional ways to modify the gun – for its direct pumping, you will need power nodes that fall out of special cabinets, are sold in the store and are knocked out of Beasts (Brute).
In one playthrough, you are unlikely to be able to fully upgrade all weapons in the game, so we advise you to select weapons for deep modification in advance. We recommend upgrading the Plasma Cutter first, which is a versatile weapon that can quickly cut off the limbs of Necromorphs. In addition, charges to it are most common.
As for the priority of stats, it will look like this: Damage (DMG) > Clip (CAP) > Clip (CAP) > Rate of fire (ROF) > Rate of fire (ROF) > Alternate firing mode (SP1) > Damage (DMG) > Recharge Rate (REL) > Alternative firing mode (SP2).
You can also upgrade the Pulse Rifle and Power Pistol at the same time as the Plasma Cutter. The first is suitable for quickly destroying small enemies, and the second is for almost instantaneous killing of enemies that come too close to the hero (a kind of shotgun).
Where to find all weapon upgrades in Dead Space
There are three upgrades for each weapon. In the guide, they are listed in the same order in which they become available to Isaac in the story. If you haven't reached the point of no return (end of Chapter 11) yet, you can return to previous sections of the Ishimura for missing upgrades if necessary.
The names of the rooms where the upgrades are hidden are displayed on the in-game map. Therefore, during the game, do not forget to refer to your map to find the right locations.

Head to the Hydroponics area and use the master key to open the container located between the Central Hub and the Mining Tram Station.

Head to the Mining Deck and once in the first room, use Kinesis to move the sliding boxes, thus opening the way to the Tools Storage. Then unlock the door with the master key. Inside you will find a locked drawer, which can also be opened with said access card. Inside you will find an upgrade.

Move to the Medical Bay and go down to the Main Lab. Head to the back hallway and open the door (Level 3 clearance required) leading to the Bioprosthetics Locker Room. The upgrade is right on the workbench.
Photon Energizer
- Weapon: Laser Pistol (Line Gun)
- Plot: Chapter 10 – The Last Days
Head to the corridor located between the Chemical Lab and the Cryogenics area. There you will find a locked door (Level 3 clearance required) leading to the Lab Storage. Open it and look for the improvement in the container.
Gravitic Amplifier
- Weapon: Force Gun
- Storyline: Chapter 10 – Last Days
After entering the Deluxe Quarters, head to the Guest Consultant's Guest to destroy the second tentacle. After talking to the character, head to the back room and look for the upgrade on the table.
High-Pressure Nozzle
- Weapon: Flamethrower

Get the battery from the Deluxe Quiet Bunks area and place it in the Breaker next to bathrooms. Activate the doors and then head to the Deluxe Shift Bunks area located nearby. Inside you will find a locked container with this upgrade.
