Borisincev Leader: Hulei in Honkai: Star Rail— an extremely powerful boss who, according to the story, escaped from captivity and caused riots on Lofu Xianzhou. In battle, Hulei uses summoning skills and mechanics of Lunar Beast and Malice. What teams to choose for the battle, what tactics to use, as well as how to get the achievements “Howl of the Lone Wolf” and “Veiled Moonlight”, read in our guide.
Where to find Hulei
At the time of patch 2.5, you can only meet the boss in the story quest “Shoulder of a comrade, weapon in hand”. With a high probability, we will see him in the following updates of various battle modes: Virtual and Divergent Universes, Hall of Oblivion, as well as Pure Fiction and Illusion of the End.
Hulei's Stats
The boss has physical, fire, and wind vulnerabilities, as well as 20% resistance to other damage types and 75% resistance to Freeze, Confinement, and Bind.
It is also worth noting the enemy's enormous speed: with a normal value of 190 speed units for bosses, Hulei's figure exceeds 200 units already at level 80.
Recommended Characters
Taking into account the enemy's vulnerabilities and other features, we recommend taking damage dealers and support DDs with wind, physical and fire damage types into the squad. They should have high speed or supports who can increase it or advance the action of another hero (Spark, Armor, Zaryanka).
If you don't have such characters in your collection, then piercing commands and bonus attacks are good options: both options will allow you to slow down Hulei's actions a little and reduce the amount of his Anger. In addition, heroes like Boothill, Firefly, Acheron and Feixiao will allow you to ignore the boss's vulnerabilities.
When playing with a hypercarry, it is worth taking characters that restore energy (Hoho, Tingyun): the ability to quickly accumulate an ult is also necessary to reduce the boss's Anger.
Finally, to defeat Huley, you will need good healers or shielders to survive the powerful blows of the Borisinets.
Best Teams
The table below shows several squads that can quickly deal with the boss. In the conditions of the story quest, you must use Marth 7 on the Hunt path, but in other modes she can be a useful ally as well.
Primary Damage Dealer | Support | Support/Support | Support |
---|---|---|---|
Feixiao | < p>March 7 (Hunting) | Robin | Aventurine |
Blade | March 7 (Hunt) | Armor | < p>Locha |
Yunli | < p>Topaz | Robin | Lynx |
Firefly (Boothill) | Pioneer (Harmony) | Ruan Mei | Gallagher |
Argenti | Tingyun | Armor | < p>Hoho |
Acheron | < p>Jiaoqiu | Black Swan | Hohoho |
Hulai's Fighting Phases and Attacks
The battle takes place in two phases. They are almost the same, except that in the second phase the boss gets one new attack. Below we will analyze all of Hulei's skills – note that they all deal electric damage.
First phase
Broken swords instead of fangs
Attacks one hero.
Chopped iron instead of claws
Hits one ally and adjacent characters.
Roaring Storms Destruction
Attacks the entire squad.
Wolf Pursuit of Glitter blood
Conducts a powerful attack on one character and imposes Stalking Horror. This is a status that requires attacking the creature that inflicted it to be removed. If this is not done, the character will receive the Horror status and will not be able to act.
Boss's Lunar Beast
After the enemy attacks the target, all monsters that can receive Moon Beast (Borisins summoned by Hulei) are inflicted with 1 stack of Bloodlust. When the number of stacks reaches 6, the creature receives Moon Beast. Stacks are gained when the enemy performs an attack.
A countdown appears on the action bar when all enemies exit Moon Beast.
When receiving Lunar Beast, Hulei significantly increases his speed and activates his next talent.
Howling at the Moon wolf
During Lunar Beasting, each attack by Hulei or his ally inflicts 1 level of Anger on the boss. After each attack, one level is removed from the characters. When Hulei's Anger reaches 8 levels, he uses “Wolf's Pursuit of Blood Glitter” and loses all stacks of Anger. When the characters' attacks reduce the number of status levels to 0, Hulei's durability is depleted and the number of status levels is reset to a certain value.
The Pack Obeys My Roar
Adds Pack Summon to the Action Order Panel. When Summon is active, Borisincev Wolves appear on the field. When opponents enter Lunar Beast, Summon is delayed.
Second Phase
Barrenness of Earth Cracks
Delays all actions (both your heroes and creatures summoned by Hulei) except his own, and deals minor damage.
How to Win against Hulei
Destroy summoned creatures
With the skill “The Pack Obeys My Roar”, Huley can summon small Borisins to help him gain levels of Anger and Bloodlust. When the Wolves appear on the field, try to use area attacks to get rid of them as quickly as possible.
Remove Anger levels
After entering the Lunar Beast state, Huley will begin to quickly gain stacks of Anger – at this point, focus all damage on him to remove these levels and avoid a powerful attack. It is better to gain energy for all ultimate attacks by this point and use them, otherwise Huley's speed will not allow you to calmly use skills and basic attacks. If possible, remove all stacks of Anger to break through the boss's vulnerability.
Hulei Achievements
Both achievements that can be obtained by fighting Hulei belong to the “Thirst for Battle” section and give 5 jade.
Howl of the Lone Wolf
To get this achievement, you need to have Hulei gain Lunar Beast while there are no other enemies nearby. When Hulei uses the skill “Lunar Beast of the Chieftain”, get rid of the other Borisins as quickly as possible. To get Lunar Beast, Hulei needs to gain 6 stacks of Bloodlust; 1 stack is given immediately, the rest are gained by attacking the boss himself and summoned creatures. Bonus attack and counterattack commands are good for completing the achievement: opponents will attack more actively, which will allow you to strike back more often.
Veiled Moonlight
To get the achievement, it is necessary that Hulei, having Lunar Beast, does not use “Wolf's Pursuit of the Glitter of Blood”.
When receiving Lunar Beast, the boss begins to gain stacks of Anger – a maximum of 8. Thus, you need to remove all levels or at least prevent Hulei from gaining them by attacking him as often as possible.
You can complete the achievement in the same battle and with the same squad as the first achievement: a large number of counterattacks will allow you to quickly remove levels of Anger.
