The appearance of the cave in99 Nights in the Forest (99 Nights in the Woodswas one of the most notable changes in the update. Hidden beneath the unassuming entrance is an extensive network of tunnels where the player will encounter new enemies, learn to use crystals, and unlock a system of blessings. This guide will help you understand every detail of the dungeon and complete it.
Appearance and location of the main cave
On the very first day in the forest, a large cave appears. Its placement is random, but it never spawns far from the camp fire. In order not to run in circles through the forest, it is convenient to immediately open the map: the entrance is indicated by a cave icon with a yellow exclamation mark. This is the main entry point leading into the deep dungeon.

Additional caves
In addition to the main one, there are three more smaller caves. They have smaller icons on the map and become available only after raising the bonfire level. However, even if there is an improved camp, you cannot get inside them directly. Each such exit is sealed, and dynamite, which is mined inside the main cave, is used to destroy it. These points serve as convenient paths for returning to the dungeon after reaching the surface.

Preparing for the descent
The cave in the game does not forgive carelessness. Many players go inside, discover the first two corridors, and return back without a sufficient supply of items. To get through the tunnel system without escaping, you need to prepare in advance.
Basic items to take with you:
Light source
You can take an old flashlight, but a strong flashlight is preferable: it holds a charge longer, renews the battery faster and interacts more effectively with crystals. The light from the crystals expands your field of vision and makes fighting easier if you suddenly encounter an enemy.
Food
Stew is the best option. It is consumed slowly and keeps you full for a long time. It is better to have several portions.
Weapons
The minimum set is one powerful melee tool and something for combat at a distance. The cave contains some of the toughest enemies in the game.
Medicine
Bandages and first aid kits are required. There are many enemies inside, and even experienced players often take a lot of damage.
What is inside the cave
After entering, you will find a warning reminding you of a new enemy – the Bat. Next, the corridor leads to a group of cultists in green cloaks. These are no ordinary foes: they are tougher, faster, and more aggressive than the familiar red cultists on the surface. Eliminating them opens the way to the first crystals.

Crystals
There are many large crystals in the cave. They react to the light from a flashlight. When charging, they flash with bright light and illuminate the surrounding area. If there are a lot of enemies in a room or tunnel, charging the crystal makes combat and navigation much easier.

Bat
In one of the corridors you can meet a huge Bat. She attacks with a powerful scream. Watch for a red exclamation mark to signal the start of her scream. At this moment, it is important to take cover behind stone ledges or uneven walls in order to absorb the impact of the sound wave and not lose health. It is advisable to move diagonally and not linger in a straight line with the creature.

Map dungeons
The cave system is a confusing network of passages that is easily misleading. The game provides a separate map for this location. It is marked with:
- Blue crystals are already charged points of light.
- Statue icons– places where you can receive blessings.
- Additional cave icons – exits to the surface.

To open additional exits to the surface, dynamite found inside the main cave is used. By blowing up the barrier, you will be able to leave the cave at different points in the forest and return inside without having to go through the main entrance again.

New types of enemies
In addition to the green cultists, there is another type of enemy – massive cultists with a huge axe. They can withstand a significant number of hits and are capable of killing an unwary player in a matter of moments. In battle, it is important to circle around them, avoiding a direct collision and attack at the moments when they are recovering from a heavy swing.

Enemies in the dungeon are regularly reborn, and some of them may suddenly appear behind you.
System of statues and blessings
There are no chests or standard loot inside the dungeon. Instead, there are four pairs of statues, each symbolizing one of the world's monsters: Deer, Owl, Aries and Bat. When interacting, one of two blessings for each pair is available. You can only get one at a time. Blessings provide bonuses that improve survivability:
- Aries Blessing I and IIreduces the chance of being struck by lightning.
- Owl Blessing I and IIreduces the chance of rain.
- Blessing of the Stag I and IIincreases the length of the day and decreases the length of the night.
- Blessing of the Bat I and IIreduces the rate of hunger.

Each improvement provides tangible benefits, especially with long-term survival. The choice depends on your playstyle.
The 99 Nights Cave in the Forest may seem like a difficult challenge, but once you know its features, you will quickly get the hang of it. Explore the routes, choose the appropriate blessings and use the light of the crystals to feel more confident. Over time, underground corridors will cease to be a mystery and will become part of your survival.
