In Dragon's Dogma 2, Monster Clearance is a story mission during which you will need to help three patrols guards to deal with monsters in three different locations: in the village of Harv, the Trevo mine and the caravan in the east. How to start the task
When completing the story quest “The Throne of the Lord” you will be taken to the city of Vernworth, where you will immediately meet Captain Brant. He will want to chat with you again in the tavern, but only at night. Head to the Stardrop establishment, the location of which is shown in the pictures below.
When you go inside, you will see Brant near the bar. If he is not here, then try to scroll forward in time by talking with the inn owner Glenna and selecting the “Pass the Time” option. Chat with the captain. He will want to talk to you alone, so he will step aside – follow him.
During the next dialogue, the captain will say that you need to gain fame and supporters in the city, so he will offer to complete several tasks. Select the “Talk about the destruction of monsters” option, and then take on the mission to begin the corresponding quest.
How to deal with the threat of monsters
After receiving the quest, make it a priority in the mission log. To complete it, you will have to visit 3 locations where you will need to fight goblins, hobgoblins and lizards. Along the way, you may also encounter cyclops and ogres (you can simply run away from them). For this reason, we advise you to be well prepared before going to the marked locations.
First, reach at least level 11 and take pawns of the appropriate level with you. Take only one magician (he must have healing), since lizards have a high resistance to magic. Second, get some sleep to restore your maximum health. Third, stock up on healing potions and more powerful equipment.
Caravan in the East
First of all, we advise you to go to the east. To do this, exit through the northeast passage of the capital, and then follow the main road and turn right. You may encounter a Cyclops along the way, so be careful. Once you cross the large wooden bridge shown in the pictures below, you will need to turn right onto the side of the road.
Here you will find a group of guards who were attacked by goblins. Help them fight off the attack of monsters. Having dealt with all the monsters, you will receive 3000 gold. Chat with Hamish, who will thank you for your help. Note that if you go further east, you can get to the Nameless Village, associated with the quest of the same name.
Goblin camp in the Trevo mine
The cave you need is located to the west of the capital – exit from the northwestern entrance, cross the bridge, and then start walking along the main road in a western direction. The entire route is shown in the pictures below. After dealing with a bunch of goblins near the passage to the mine, enter it and start going deeper.
Here you will need to find a group of soldiers. To do this, go through the wooden door shown in the images below and move forward until you reach a spacious area. Walk across the wooden bridge and you will see people. Chat with them and help them deal with the goblins.
We talked in detail about the exploration of this cave in the passage of the quest “A Desperate Search for a Calling,” so we advise you to familiarize yourself with it. Note that this is where you can find the archstaff and two-handed sword, necessary to open two new callings.
Nest of lizards in the village of Kharv
After dealing with the goblins, exit the cave, and then start moving south along the road towards the settlement. Be careful, as you will most likely encounter an ogre along the way. These opponents attack women first, so you can use them as bait.
Once in the settlement, move to its southern part, passing through the stone arch into the grotto. Here you will find guard Dylan, who will ask you to save his comrades who fell into a nest of scaly ones. The descent into the dungeon is right next to the soldier.
Below you will need to save two groups of people. You will find the first of them almost at the very beginning of the cave. The guards will fight the lizards, so help them defeat the monsters. Try to attack enemies from behind to deal more damage to them. In addition, you can cut off their tails in this way, causing critical damage.
After defeating the monsters, chat with Franz. He will thank you and then head out with his men. After the conversation, continue deeper into the dungeon, moving straight. You will soon come to a spacious area. First, run forward, and then turn left and start climbing the slope, as shown in the picture below.
At the top you will find another soldier fighting lizards. Help him defeat his enemies, and then chat with him. Hollis will say that he was wounded in battle, so he will not be able to follow you, but in reality he is able to follow the main character, just very slowly. For this reason, we advise you to grab it and carry it in your arms to the exit. Near the ledges, lower the guard so that he can climb them on his own.
Be careful, because on the way back you will also be attacked by lizards. Once outside, chat with Dylan again. Then we strongly recommend that you return to the cave and fully explore it – it is not very large and it is difficult to get lost in it. At the same time, you can find a lot of chests and ore inside.
We also advise you not to teleport immediately to Vernworth, but first go to the village of Harv again. When you approach it, Fioran will immediately enter into a dialogue with you, who will ask you to deal with the lizards that have settled in the houses of local residents. Agree to help him to begin the quest “Scaly Invaders.”
Return to Captain Brant
Now you can move to the capital or walk to it on your own two feet. Next, go to the Stardrop Inn at night and chat with the captain at the table. Tell him about the monsters you killed. This will complete the task.
As a reward, you will receive 3000 experience points, 7 thousand gold coins and Scout's Cloak.
