Varka is a character known from the start of the game in Genshin Impact, Grand Master of the Ordo Favonius, and one of the strongest knights of Mondstadt. After years of waiting, he appeared in the lunar region of Nod's End, revealing his appearance and part of his history. In this material, we have collected all the known facts and details of Varka's biography, his characteristics, elements, weapons and estimated release date.
Varka in Genshin Impact
Varka(Varka/法尔伽) – current Grand Master of the Ordo Favonius and Knight Borealis (this is how he introduced himself to Reri at the end of the plot of patch 6.0), as well as one of the most powerful people in the Anemo Region. Varka is respected for his strength, determination and good-natured character: Razor remembers that he laughs often, Barbara is sure that under his leadership the city is in no danger, and even Tartaglia dreams of fighting him, calling him “the great man of the Ordo Favonius.” The hero is known not only for his military merits, but also for his generosity – it was he who brought Rosaria to Mondstadt, accepted Eola into the Order and took care of the fate of Razor. Varka often finds himself in funny situations: once, having gone to Mavuika on business, he went on a drinking spree with her and couldn’t even remember why he came.
The master’s voice occasionally appeared in some stories, but players were able to see him in person only in these quests:
- “The Country That Doesn’t Exist” and “Elegy of the Faded Moonlight” (patch 6.1).
Appearance and age
Varka is a tall man with a strong, muscular build. Although you can’t tell from the outside, he is probably already about fifty years old.
At the first meeting, the hero complains of back pain and notices that he is no longer young. According to Venti, Varca “is not exactly young, but not old either. He’s one of those people who jokes at every opportunity, it has nothing to do with age.”
He has fair skin, tousled shoulder-length blond hair, and piercing blue eyes. The face and neck are covered with old scars – traces of many battles. Varka wears a black and turquoise cloak with fur trim and gold trim, underneath which is hidden a breastplate bearing the crest of the Ordo Favonius. His appearance is complemented by beige pants with leather belts, black boots and a massive plate glove on his right hand.

Several years before the Traveler's first visit to Mondstadt, Varka left the capital, entrusting Jinn to act as master. His expedition was supposed to shed light on the activities of Fatui and the secrets of the northern lands. Thanks to his diplomatic qualities and eloquence, as well as the mediation of Venti, the master managed to establish contact with Alice and the witches of the Sabbat, concluding with them some kind of agreement to support the region (information from the end of the story “Paralogism”). Later the road led him to Natlan, where he personally met with Piro Archon. The negotiations, like many things related to Varka, ended in nothing more than a drinking contest.
Having reached Nod's Edge, Varka began to investigate what was happening in the region. Here he met Aino and instructed her automaton maid Ineffa to convey a message to the Traveler and Paimon (from the events of the Hollow Moon Song overture), in which he warned: Nod's Land is a place where only well-prepared people should go. In the letter, the master said that he knew about the exploits of the Honorary Knight and wanted to see him in person, making an appointment at a tavern in Nashgorod.
However, upon arriving there, the Traveler did not find Varka: according to the bartender, he urgently went with the knights to Lake Amsvartnir, where the riots of the Wild Hunt began. Varka later tracked down the source of the threat – Reri, heading towards a cave at Star Banks. An attempt to take control of it ended in failure – the Moon Bridge turned out to be too strong, and the detachment had to retreat. The consequences of this skirmish became the reason for his third-party participation in the operation to expel the Sinner.
Varka's first appearance in the game comes at a rather tense moment – he saves the Traveler and his companions from being pursued by Reri. After this, the master joins forces with Albedo, Durin, Dainsleif and the rest of the characters in Chapter 3 of “Song of the Hollow Moon” to develop tactics and end the confrontation with the Sinner. The heroes celebrate their subsequent victory in the “Flagship” – the very place where Varka first intended to meet the Traveler who had arrived in Nod Land.

At the very first appearance of Varka in the plot, the key characteristics of the hero became known: he wields a claymore (and, both in the game and in previous trailers, it is not the nameless two-hander, but Wolf's Bane) and controls the element of wind (Mondstadt's Eye of God is attached at the level of the hips on the left side of the cloak). The official release date for the Master in the game has not yet been confirmed, but insiders predict itdebut for updates 6.4 or 6.5(February – April 2026).
