In Hogwarts Legacy, symbol and number doors are one of the types of puzzles, which you can come across when exploring the school of magic and sorcery. To solve this riddle, you need to solve a small arithmetic problem. Behind these doors you can find various treasures. In this guide, we will indicate the location of all rune doors and tell you how to open them.
How to solve puzzles with animal symbols and numbers
If you want to figure out how to solve these puzzles on your own, then we advise you to find the appropriate clue located within the walls of the educational institution. To do this, move to the Divination Class located in the Library Annex. The screenshots below show the correct location.
Go into the passage to the right of the green flame, and then turn left, take 10-15 steps along the wooden deck and turn right. Ahead you will see a closed door with symbols, next to which there will be a school board with numbers drawn on it.
To the right of the board is a container containing a decoding of the symbols of animals (you can later at any time look at it in the inventory in the “Quest Items” section). List of all magical creatures and numbers:
- The number “0” is the image of a demimask.
- The number “1” is the image of a unicorn.
- The number “2” “- the image of a kelpie.
- The number “3” – the image of the hydra.
- The number “4” – the image of the fwooper.
- The number “5” – the image of the pentapod.
- The number “6” is an image of a donkey.
- The number “7” is an image of a food warmer.
- The number “8” is an image of an acromantula.
- The number “9” is an image of a giant squid.
So, to solve the puzzle, you will need to correctly place the symbols of magical creatures on special panels that are usually installed next to the door. How to choose the right signs? Pay attention to the central drawings with numbers – you need to find out which number is hidden behind the question marks by doing a little math problem:
- Upper equation: 9 = 2 + Hydra (3) + ?. So, under the question mark is the number “4”, which stands for fwooper. Set the bird symbol to the left of the door.
- Bottom equation: 4 = 0 + 1 + ??. So, under the question mark is the number “3”, which stands for hydra. Set the reptile symbol to the right of the door.
As a result, the passage will open, and you can pick up all the treasures from a small chest. Next, we will indicate the location of all doors and their solution. We will not describe in detail the execution of the equations, but simply show the symbols that need to be selected.
How to find and open all the doors with symbols in Hogwarts
So that you can quickly understand which one doors in question, we will indicate in the text large numbers drawn in the central circles.

- Numbers in the center: 15 and 18
After opening the door that we looked at in the example, go inside and go right down the corridor to get into the numerology classroom, where you will find two new puzzles of this type. Let's deal with the left door first.
On the panel with the “?” set the fwooper bird, and on the panel with “??” expose the five-legged, as shown in the screenshot below. As a result, the door will open and you will find new equipment and collectibles behind it.

Now turn right from the previous door and put on the left panel with a “?” donkey lizard, and on the right “??” – a unicorn, as shown in the screenshot below.
Inside the secret room you will find two chests: one of them contains a collectible, and in the other, a new item of equipment.

Travel to the indicated location, and then turn around and go down the stairs to the room with the statue. Here, turn left and down, and then turn right, and you will see a new door with runes.
To solve the puzzle on the left panel with “?” it is necessary to set the acromantula spider, and on the top with “??” – three-headed hydra. Inside the secret room, you will find a collectible and equipment as usual.

- Numbers in the center: 6 and 11
After teleporting to the indicated point of the flying flame, turn right and go up the stairs to the top. Then turn right again and climb the second ladder even higher. Pass a closet with a smart key and you'll find a door in the corner on the left.

To solve the puzzle, set the left panel with “?” image of a demimask, and on the lower right with “??” – the symbol of the five-legged. Inside you will find a collectible and a piece of equipment.

Move to the indicated point of the flying flame, and then turn around and run left and down and up the spiral staircase. Below on the platform you will find a door with runes.
To unlock the passage you need to put on the left panel with “?” donkey lizard, and on the right with “??” – marmite. Inside you will find a collectible and a piece of equipment.

Having moved to the specified area, go to the left of the flying flame and after 10-15 steps you will find a door with runes on the right.

- Center numbers: 5 and 12
Move to the indicated point of the flying flame, and then turn right and look around the left corner – there you will immediately find a door with runes.
To solve the puzzle on the left panel with “?” select kelpie, and on the right with “??” – marmite. Inside you will find a collectible and a piece of equipment.

- Location: Teachers Tower (South Wing)
- Numbers in the center: 13 and 14
Note that you will only be able to get to this puzzle if you have Alohomora's level 1 spell, as you will have to pick the lock. So, move to the indicated point of the flying flame, and then go forward along the corridor and, after leaving it, immediately turn right. There will be a closed door here. Unlock it with a charm and go inside.
Then head up the stairs to the second floor and you'll see the correct rune door in front of you. On the left panel with “?” select demimask, and on the right with “??” – a giant squid. Inside you will find treasures.

- Center numbers: 22 and 9
Note that you will only be able to get to this puzzle if you have the Alohomora spell level 1, as you will have to pick the lock. Teleport to the indicated point of the flying flame and go through the double doors ahead. Then turn into the left passage and go down the stairs. At the closet with a clever lock, turn left again and open the door with a spell.
Entering the corridor, run forward to the very end without turning anywhere, and then climb the stairs up. Once in the new room, turn the camera to the left and you will find a door with runes here.
To solve this puzzle, select on the left panel with “?” image of a kelpie, and on the right with “??” – a unicorn. Now you can open the door and take the treasure.

- Center numbers: 10 and 7
Note that you will only be able to get to this puzzle if you have the Alohomora spell level 1, as you will have to pick the lock. Move to the indicated point of the flying flame, and then turn left and go along the corridor forward a few steps. Next, turn left to the double doors and enter the next room.

Once inside, walk forward a little and turn right. Then go up the stairs to the 3rd floor and open the locked door by picking its level 1 lock. In the new room, run straight to the opposite wall and you'll see a door with runes on the left side.
To solve the puzzle, set the right panel with “??” image of a three-headed hydra, and on the left with a “?” – donkey lizards. Now you can open the passage and take the treasure.
