In short, we are talking about artifacts from Genshin Impact or relics from Honkai: Star Rail, that is, this is special equipment with which you can significantly increase some of the character’s characteristics. Drive discs are grouped into sets consisting of six records that can be inserted into six sectors of the hero.
Each set can provide two different bonuses when collecting 2 and 4 parts. Thus, one agent can receive three different buffs at once, which significantly expands the possible combinations and simplifies the selection of suitable plates for a fighter.
Note that for the first time you will learn about these elements of equipment already in the story mission “Chapter 1: Interlude”, where you will be given a couple of discs. However, you will be able to fully farm them only when you get to “Chapter 2: Interlude.”
Characteristics of drive disks
Any drive disk has two sets of attributes: basic and random. The first are the main parameters of the artifact, and the second are additional.
Basic parameters
They are different for each disk slot, while artifacts placed in the first three cells have fixed characteristics: HP (health), Attack Power and Defense. As for the fourth, fifth and sixth slots, they can increase different attributes, namely:
- Critical damage
- Critical hit chance
- Penetration chance
- HP% (or HP)
- Attack power% (or attack power)
- Defense% (or defense)
- Anomaly Knowledge
- Bonus physical, fire, ice, electrical or ether damage

They are understood as secondary characteristics that either appear naturally when receiving the disk, or arise during pumping up the artifact. A maximum of 4 additional parameters can be obtained on one plate. Their list is presented below:

How to improve drive disks
Everything is quite simple here – to increase the level of drive disks you only need special upgrade materials: plastic coating, crystalline coating and ethereal coating. These resources are obtained in the following ways:
- Passing the “Regular Cleanup” tests.
- Passing tests in the “Combat Simulation Hall”.
- Purchasing at the Banbu minimarket “141” on Sixth Street.
- By parsing drive discs of different rarities.
Let’s add that depending on the rank of the drive disk, the limits for pumping it up will change: B-rank can be pumped up to a maximum of 9 damage, A-rank – up to 12, and S-rank – up to 15.
How to get drive disks in Zenless Zone Zero
Regular cleaning
The main method of obtaining drive disks in the game. These are several combat tests, each of which provides two different sets of artifacts (rarity depends on your proxy Reputation level), money and coatings (materials for leveling up) as a reward. In them you need to defeat two elite opponents.
During these tests, various buffs are provided that enhance certain parameters or attack types. Select characters for battle based on this information – this will significantly simplify the destruction of opponents. You will gain access to this mechanic during the passage of “Chapter 2: Interlude”. To clear them, you will have to spend 60 units of battery charge.
Rally Tasks
Special combat orders of increased difficulty, in which you simply follow one path, occasionally interacting with levers and buttons, and fight various monsters. At the end there is usually a battle with the bosses you defeated in the story quests. They often give out various drive discs as a reward. These missions are first unlocked during the passage of “Call from the Cavern Depths?..”
Intonation (creating drive disks)
When receiving drive disks, there is a considerable chance that you will not receive the artifact that you would like to have. Especially for this purpose, ZZZ created a system for parsing and creating records. To do this, you need to visit the Music Store located on Sixth Street. It is run by a girl named Elfie. Access to it opens as part of “Chapter 2: Interlude”.
To craft new drive discs you will need special materials: Master discs. They are obtained by dismantling unnecessary artifacts in the same store. They are also given as rewards for increasing the Internot level, defeating bosses in the Expert Challenge challenges, and completing the Shiyu Defense.

Let's add that initially you will only have access to the Initial Intonation, which allows you to create artifacts from a random sector no higher than rank “A” without the ability to select the main parameter. At the same time, a 4-star drive disk drops with 100% probability only on the 5th attempt.
But you can choose the sets of drive discs you need using the “Track Settings” function. To unlock advanced store functions, you need to increase its level. The table below contains all the necessary information.
