In Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ), the Endless Abyss is an exploration mission in which you have to go as deep as possible, completing all 99 levels. To do this, you will need to correctly place beacons, collect surveillance data packets, reduce pressure, correctly answer Quiz questions, and fight monsters.
In this guide, we will tell you how to start this quest, whether you should even reach the 99th level of the abyss, and what rewards you will receive for doing so. We will also give you all the answers to the quiz questions.
Walkthrough of the exploration mission “Endless Abyss” in Zenless Zone Zero
How to start the quest “The reason for my fall is the eternal banbu”
You will only be able to access this quest after reaching level 40 of the Internet. Once you have done this, go to the kiosk near your video rental store and you will find a Cavern Explorer next to him with an exclamation mark hanging over his head. Go up to him and talk to him to start ordering.
The scientist will ask you to find his missing partner, who went to study the endless abyss in the caverns. In your journal, by the way, this task will be called differently – “The Reason for My Fall is the Eternal Banbu”. Next, enter your store, go to the HDD system, select “Chapter 3” and find the corresponding order in the “Research” section.
Note that you will have to fight a lot, and with quite dangerous opponents. But the enemies will be chosen randomly, so it is difficult to say which attributes are best to choose. We recommend that you simply take your most powerful team, consisting of S-rank characters.
How to Reach Level 99 in Endless Abyss
Let's note two important rules right away:
- You don't have to complete all 99 levels (this can take more than 2 hours of real time) to get an “S” rating for completing the quest and most of the rewards. It will be enough to complete only 15 levels!
- All locations except the very first one are randomly generated, so there is no point in describing the entire walkthrough. Instead, we will give a number of useful tips that will allow you to reach the very end of the abyss.
Keep an eye on the pressure value
So, your main task when exploring this cavern will be to keep an eye on the pressure indicator, because after gaining 100 units, you will receive one level of infection with a debuff. If you gain 5 levels, the task will automatically end, and you will have to start it from the very beginning.
Any cell with the inscription “Route” or with an event (fight with enemies, store, collecting items) will give +10 pressure units. If you stand on a purple cell with a TV screen, you will get +30 points,so do not stand on it under any circumstances, choosing better to fight monsters or red cells (reduce your characters' health).
Fortunately, you can reduce the pressure by standing on blue cells (a man in a helmet) and squares with a spray can. The former can instantly reduce the indicator by 30 units, and the latter will give you the “Concentrated Sedative” plugin, which you can use at any time to reduce the pressure by 40 points. We advise you to save it for emergency situations.
Use Navigation Beacons
But such rescue cells will not appear at every level – this is where navigation beacons will help you. We are talking about special plugins that will be given to you 1 piece when moving to the next level and 2 more pieces – every 5 levels. Plus, you can find them on the field itself (a cell with a rivet).
Note: Additional beacons will also be awarded for correct answers to Quiz questions (read more about this below).
Once you have these plugins, stand on blue cells or cells with a spray can, and then hold down the “R” key to place a beacon on them. If you did everything correctly, you will see a lock icon on the square. Now, when you move to another level through the funnel, this cell will be transferred along with you, and it will end up in the same place.
Therefore, you should ONLY spend navigation beacons on blue cells, cells with spray cans and additional beacons, constantly transferring them to the next levels. This way, you will be able to maintain a low infection rate or not accumulate pressure at all.
Recreation area and shesterlings
Every 5th level you will get to the recreation area, where you will find a hellish sauna, in which for gearlings you can remove 1 level of infection. At the same time, the cost of this service will increase each time. For this reason, we strongly recommend that you collect gears – this will become your second priority after blue cells and spray cans.
You can also find a carrot in this hub – it is usually located in the upper right corner of the field. With its help, you can immediately exit the Endless Abyss, thereby completing its exploration. We advise you to do this after reaching level 15.
Here you will also have to fight opponents to unlock reward cells (surveillance data packages or suitcases with denny) and the path to the next level, so you can't avoid battles. Be careful, because at the end you will definitely have a fight with the boss.
Useful Tips
Next, we will give you some useful recommendations that will allow you to reach level 99 relatively without any problems.
First, sometimes you will encounter red cells with a survivor who will ask you to drag him along, which will take 1 navigation beacon. You will need to do this 2 times. After which he will mutate into an etherial in any case, and you will have to fight him. Having dealt with him, you will receive over 200 shetterlings. This is not very much, so we advise you to spend beacons on him only if you have several with you, and you have already managed to secure all available blue cells and spray cans.
Secondly, always look for the shortest route to the funnel, only interfering with events if they are directly in your path. Also calculate whether it is worth getting to the blue cell or whether it is better to immediately move to the next area, that is, if you have to spend more than 30 units of pressure to get to it, then it is better not to do it.
Thirdly, always choose red cells or cells with monsters if the alternative is a purple area – it is better to lose a little health or time fighting enemies than to increase your pressure and thereby reduce the chances of passing all levels.
All rewards for completing the Endless Abyss
The main rewards will be waiting for you in the rest areas, that is, every 5 (up to the 15th) or 10 levels (after the 15th). At the same time, at the 5th, 10th and 15th levels, you will receive one packet of observation data. Having collected all 3 yellow balls, you can safely complete the task, since you will already have an “S” rating and most of the rewards.
If you continue to complete the Abyss, you will start receiving purple and gold suitcases, which contain denny:
- Level 20 of the Abyss – you can get 1 purple case.
- Level 30 of the Abyss – you can get 1 purple case.
- Level 40 of the Abyss – you can get 1 gold case.
- Abyss level 50 – you can get 1 purple case.
- Abyss level 60 – you can get 1 purple case.
- Abyss level 70 – you can get 1 gold case.
- Abyss level 80 – you can get 1 purple case.
- Abyss level 90 – you can get 1 purple case.
- Abyss level 99 – you can get 3 gold cases.
At the same time, you will not be given any unique achievements or additional rewards – only denny, and not so much to spend 1.5 hours of your life for. Unless you will sometimes find notes that will reveal the lore of the abyss more deeply, but this information can be easily found online.
Correct Answers to the Quiz for Experts
Sometimes you will come across a special cell with the inscription “Quiz Time”, where you will need to give correct answers to questions related to the game. For the correct answer you will be given 2 navigation beacons at once. Note that the questions are also chosen randomly. Below we will try to give all possible answers to them.
Question: How many blocks of the same color do you need to collect to make them disappear from the screen in the game Dog Eaters III?
- Answer: 4.
Question: How many milliliters of soda do you need for the signature drink of the cafe “U Domo”?
- Answer: 250 milliliters.
Question: How much is the cheapest noodle at Soup Falls?
- Answer: 1800 denny.
Question: What is the maximum height of cars that are allowed to drive under the overpass near Sixth Street?
- Answer: 5 meters.
Question: What number is written on the banbu scarf behind the counter at the video store?
- Answer: 18.
Question: Which banbu in store 141 has a book on his head?
- Answer: Asking Question.
Question: What is the deepest level you've reached?
- Answer: Depends on your achievements. If you are completing this order for the first time, just look at the upper left corner. Otherwise, you will have to remember which floor you managed to reach during previous attempts.
Question: How many navigation beacons do you have now?
- Answer: Again, it's up to you. We advise you to check how many beacons you have with you at the moment before you start the quiz. If you can't remember, then choose the middle option (it turns out to be correct with 99% accuracy), that is, if the answers are 5, 4 and 6, then choose 5.
Completing the task
After reaching level 15 or 99, you can leave this cavern. Do this either in the rest area or in any other area using the “Carrot”. After receiving your well-deserved reward and exiting the HDD system, get out to Sixth Street and approach the Cavern Explorer again. Chat with him to complete the quest.
We hope this information will help you complete the “Endless Abyss” in Zenless Zone Zero and get the maximum reward.
