Evelyn's main features in ZZZ
How to get Evelyn
In the second phase (February 12) of version 1.5, the bodyguard first appeared in the banner, which increased the likelihood of her dropping. In the future, this heroine can only be obtained using Signal Search. Unfortunately, HoYoverse only once held an event in which the reward was a 5-star fighter (Harumasa), so you will definitely not be able to get Evelyn for free.

Eveline's Abilities and Their Upgrade Priority
You can read about the heroine's abilities in the game itself, so we decided to add it under the spoiler so as not to increase the size of the article. We also recommend that you read our guide to the combat system to better understand it.
Basic attacks
Sharp string
Press the Basic Attack button (LMB) to launch. Evelyn performs up to 5 strikes in front of her, dealing physical and fire damage. If the 5th strike hits an enemy, Evelyn activates Lunalux Garrote, entangling her primary target and entering the Forbidden Tether state.
Passive Skill: Tether
When Evelyn damages enemies with her skills, she gains Incinerate. When Evelyn spends Incinerate to activate Garrote or decibels to activate her Super, she gains 1 Flame Thread. When Evelyn has 3 Flame Threads, her next Garrote will consume all Flame Threads and replace it with a chain of Lunalux Tethers with reduced interrupt.
Garrote – First Form
To launch, hold down the Basic Attack (LMB) or Special Attack (E) button when the Incinerate effect is at 50% or higher. Evelyn consumes 50% of the Incinerate effect and performs a slash with Lunalux Garrote, dealing Fire damage. While using the skill, the level of Interruption Defense increases and damage taken is reduced by 40%. After using the skill, you receive 1 Flame Thread.
Garrote – Second Form
To activate, continue to hold down the Basic Attack (LMB) or Special Attack (E) button after using Garrote – First Form when the Incinerate effect is at least 50%. Evelyn consumes 50% of the Incinerate effect and performs an additional strike with Lunalux Garrote, dealing Fire damage. While using the skill, the Interrupt Defense level is increased and damage taken is reduced by 40%. After using the skill, you receive 1 Flame Thread.
Evasion
Evasion: Backpedal
Press the Dodge button (RMB or L Shift) to quickly dodge while dashing. The heroine is invulnerable while using this ability.
Dash Attack: Stealth Infiltration
Press the Basic Attack (LMB) button while dodging to activate. Evelyn performs a kick to an enemy in front of her, dealing physical damage.
Counter after Dodge: Chokehold
To activate, press the Basic Attack button (LMB) after launching a Perfect Dodge. Evelyn slashes enemies around her with Lunaluxe Garrote, dealing Fire Damage. When this attack hits an enemy, Evelyn entangles her primary target with Lunaluxe Garrote and enters the Forbidden Tether state. While using this ability, Evelyn is invulnerable.
Assistance
Quick Assist: Furious Sting
To activate, press the Assist button (Space) when the active character is knocked up. Evelyn slashes enemies around her with Lunalux Garrote, dealing fire damage. When this attack hits an enemy, Evelyn entangles her main target with Lunalux Garrote and enters the Forbidden Tether state. While using this ability, the heroine is invulnerable.
Defensive Assist: Silent Surveillance
To activate, press the Assist button (Space) when the character is about to be attacked. The agent parries enemy attacks, accumulating a lot of stun points on them. While using this ability, the heroine is invulnerable.
Additional Attack Assist: Obstacle in the Way
To activate, press the Basic Attack button (LMB) after using Defense Assist. Evelyn slashes enemies with Lunalux Garrote, then causes an explosion in front of her, dealing fire damage. When this attack hits an enemy, Evelyn entangles her main target with Lunalux Garrote and enters the Forbidden Fetters state. While using this ability, the heroine is invulnerable.
Special Attacks
Special Attack: Immobilize
Before entering the Forbidden Bind state, press the Special Attack (E) button to activate the ability. Eveline pulls the enemy with Lunalux Garrote and performs a forward kick, dealing fire damage. When the kick hits an enemy, Eveline entangles her primary target with Lunalux Garrote and enters the Forbidden Bind state. While using this skill, Interrupt Defense is increased.
Special Attack: Cracked Cocoon – First Form
After entering the Forbidden Binding state, press or hold the Special Attack (E) button to launch the ability. Evelynn pulls enemies towards the primary target affected by Forbidden Binding and causes an explosion that deals Fire damage. After the explosion, Forbidden Binding is removed.
While performing this skill, Evelyn can dodge enemy attacks, and when performing a perfect dodge, an additional 25% Incinerate is accumulated. After pulling enemies, press the basic attack button to cancel the explosion and immediately go to the 3rd hit. Interruption defense is increased while using this skill.
Enhanced Special Attack: Cracked Cocoon – Ultimate
To activate, press the Special Attack (E) button when Evelyn has enough energy and after entering the Forbidden Tether state. Evelyn pulls enemies toward the primary target affected by Forbidden Tether, causing an explosion that deals massive Fire Damage. After the explosion, Forbidden Tether is removed.
While performing this skill, Evelyn can dodge enemy attacks, and performing a Perfect Dodge will additionally accumulate 25% Incinerate. After pulling enemies, press the Basic Attack button to cancel the explosion and immediately move on to the 3rd hit. She is invulnerable while using this ability.
Attack Chains
Attack Chain: Lunalux Tether
To activate, select an agent when the attack chain is triggered. Evelyn repeatedly slashes enemies in front of her with Lunalux Garrotes and causes an explosion, dealing massive fire damage. When the attack hits an enemy, Evelyn entangles her primary target with Lunalux Garrotes and enters the Forbidden Tether state. While using this ability, Evelyn is invulnerable.
Super Ability: Lunalux Garrotes – Sound
To activate, press the Ultimate (Q) button at max decibel level. Evelyn repeatedly slashes enemies in front of her with Lunalux Garrottes and causes an explosion, dealing massive Fire damage.
When activating this skill, Evelyn takes off her jacket and enters the Awakening Flames state, which lasts until the end of the battle. While in Awakening Flames, Evelyn always keeps one Flame Thread in reserve when consuming Flame Threads to activate the Lunalux Tethers chain attack.
After hitting an enemy, Evelyn entangles her primary target with Lunalux Garrote and enters Forbidden Tether. While using this ability, Evelyn is invulnerable. Upon activating this skill, Evelyn gains 1 Flame Thread.
Ultimate Ability: Lunalux Garrote – Shadow
To activate, press the Ultimate (Q) button while in Awakening Flames and at maximum decibel level. Evelyn repeatedly slashes enemies in front of her with Lunalux Garrotes and causes an explosion, dealing massive Fire damage.
When this attack hits an enemy, Evelyn entangles her primary target with Lunalux Garrote and enters the Forbidden Tether state. While using this ability, she is invulnerable. When this skill is activated, Evelyn gains 1 Flame Thread.
Properties
Main Passive: Overwhelm
When Evelyn enters Forbidden Binding, her Critical Hit Chance is increased by 12.5-25%. When Evelyn exits Forbidden Binding, her buff lasts for an additional 10 seconds. If another character enters the battlefield instead of Evelyn while Forbidden Binding is active, Evelyn automatically performs the special attack Cracked Cocoon – First Form.
Additional Ability: Sneak Attack
If there is an Intimidation or Support agent in the party: Evelyn's Chain Attack and Super deal 30% more damage. If Evelyn's Critical Hit Chance is 80% or higher, the damage multiplier for her Chain Attack and Super increases to 125% of the original value.
As for leveling up the heroine's talents, then the priority should be the makings and attack chains, since the former provide significant buffs, and the latter are the main source of damage. Next in importance are special and basic attacks, which, in fact, will allow you to quickly perform chains of attacks within combinations.
Once you've maxed out these abilities, you can move on to pumping up assist and evasion to increase the overall damage of the bodyguard.
Evelyn's Mental Picture
To open it, you need to save up Agent Profiles, which are given out when duplicates of the heroine drop, which, of course, is random. Considering the low chance of getting 5-star characters, you'll need to spend a lot of time and money to unlock all the mentals. However, even without them, Evelyn can easily play the role of the main damage dealer.
The table below lists all the mental abilities, their descriptions and benefits for the heroine.
Name | Bonus | Usefulness |
---|---|---|
Web of Sleep | Eveline gains 1500 decibels when entering the battlefield. When Forbidden Shackles is applied to an enemy, it also gains the Shackle effect. When Eveline attacks an enemy that has it, she ignores 12% of their defense. When Eveline launches the special attack Cracked Cocoon – First Form or the enhanced special attack Cracked Cocoon – Final Form, she will apply the Shackle effect to all enemies hit by this attack, and this effect lasts for 10 seconds. | With this mentality, you can activate the ultimate extremely quickly, which is very important for Evelynn's rotation, as it speeds up her gameplay. Plus, you can significantly increase her damage, regularly cutting off enemy resistance. Brings very high utility. |
Flame Dance | Evelynn's attack power is increased by 15%. When Evelynn launches the basic attack “Garrote – First Form” or the basic attack “Garrote – Second Form”, all spent Incinerate is restored, but not more often than once every 25 seconds. When Evelynn spends Flame Threads to launch the attack chain “Lunalux Fetters”, the interrupt rating of this move is increased. | M2 increases Eveline's overall damage with an attack buff and allows her to use enhanced basic attacks more often, accelerating the accumulation of threads to perform chain attacks that are harder to interrupt. Provides high utility. |
Cocoon Exit | Basic Attack, Evasion, Assist, Special Attack, Chain Attack Level +2. | Provides moderate utility. |
Melody of Destiny | When Evelyn launches a chain of attacks or a super ability, she immediately gains a shield equal to 10% of her maximum HP. While Evelyn has this shield, she deals 40% more critical damage. | Unexpectedly provides the heroine with a shield, although not very durable. But it simplifies the balancing of crits. Overall, a good mental ability, however, not worth the resources spent on it. |
A Thread Red as Dawn | Base attack, evasion, assist, special attack, chain attack level +2. | Brings average benefit. |
Connection of Light and Darkness | When Evelyn chains or uses her Super, she gains the Lunar Crescent effect for 20 seconds. When she hits an enemy with her Basic, Dash, Special, or Empowered Special attack while this effect is active, she performs an additional strike with Lunalux Garrote, dealing Fire damage equal to 375% of Evelyn's Attack Power. This damage is considered chain damage, and can be triggered up to 16 times, with Lunar Crescent being triggered again to refresh the number of times it can be triggered. | Significantly increases the heroine's damage, giving her an additional attack that will start triggering after the first chain of attacks. However, we still think this mentality is not worth the resources spent on it. |
If you still decide to try your luck, you can go for M1, thanks to which she will be able to activate her ult faster and deal more damage to enemies, cutting off their resistance. If you have a choice between the first mental and a signature weapon, then we still advise you to take the signature, since the game so far (at the time of patch 1.5) simply does not have other amplifiers for strengthening attack chains.
How to play as Eveline
The optimal rotation for Eveline in ideal conditions will look like this:
- First, bring out supports and sub-DDs onto the battlefield, whose buffs can act from the pocket and for a long time, and then switch to Evelynn and perform 5 basic strikes on the main target to activate Lunalux Garrote and enter the Forbidden Fetters state, which gives an increase to critical chance.
- After filling the Incinerate gauge to the very end, hold down the basic attack button, performing two Garrotes and receiving two Flame Threads.
- At this point, you'll likely have enough energy to activate a supercharged special attack that will deal a ton of damage and, if you dodge perfectly, will allow you to accumulate 50% of Incinerate, so you can do another Garrote, get a third strand, and immediately chain attacks.
- Once you've accumulated the required number of decibel points, perform your ult to deal fire damage to an area and enter Awakening Flames, which will always leave one strand in the gauge, meaning you'll need to accumulate two charges instead of one in the future.
- Then just build up the “Incineration” scale and use chain attacks after building up the threads.
Evelyn's Advantages and Disadvantages
With her unique abilities, the bodyguard can easily deal with both single opponents and groups of enemies. Her advantages also include:
- Is a great hypercarry with straightforward gameplay based on the use of basic and special attacks that allow you to perform chains of attacks with impressive multipliers.
- With his attacks, he can “tie” opponents, holding them in one place, which simplifies battles with large enemy groups.
- Has a relatively easy-to-learn rotation, so it is suitable for beginners.
- Capable of independently increasing her overall and critical damage, as well as the damage multiplier of the attack chain and super abilities with the help of Propensities, which significantly simplifies the balancing of crits.
- Does not require continuous presence on the battlefield, since in the case of a quick switch to another character, the thread remains, and when re-entering the arena, she always performs a special attack without spending energy.
However, Evelin cannot be called an ideal character, since she also has her drawbacks:
- You need to constantly monitor the Incinerate scale and the number of threads, and use charged basic attacks in time. In the heat of battle, doing this may not be very convenient, so not everyone may like this kind of gameplay.
- During battles with one elite enemy and several ordinary opponents, it can be difficult to choose the main target to fasten with a thread.
- Without M1, it can take quite a while before you can activate the ult, which is what allows you to significantly speed up Eveline's gameplay, requiring the accumulation of only 2 threads instead of 3.
- At the time of patch 1.5, the game does not have amplifiers of the “Assault” category, which strengthen the chains of attacks, which is why it is highly recommended to knock out the signature.
The best build for Eveline
The best amplifiers
We recommend choosing weapons that increase critical damage, critical hit chance, fire damage, or attack power. Options that enhance attack chains will also be useful. The table below shows the most interesting options.
Name | Stats | Ability |
---|---|---|
String and melody | Base attack: 48-713 Critical Hit Chance: 9.6-24% | Increases critical damage by 50-80%. Whenever the wearer enters the battlefield, launches a chain of attacks or a super ability, they are given 1 stack of the Heartstrings effect. Each level of the status allows the wearer's chains of attacks or the ultimate to ignore 12.5-20% of the target's resistance to fire damage. The bonus stacks up to two times and lasts for half a minute. Repeated launches result in a refresh of the duration. Evelin's signature weapon, which makes balancing crits much easier. Thanks to her aggressive playstyle, she will be able to constantly activate her passive. Significantly outperforms alternative amplifiers, so when choosing between a signature weapon and M1, we still recommend taking “String and Melody”. |
Sera | Base Attack: 46-684 Attack Power: 12-30% | When a basic attack, dash attack, or counterattack after dodging hits an enemy, the agent with this item's attack power increases by 3.5-7% for 8 sec. Stacks up to 8 times, triggers once every 0.5 sec. The duration of each level of the effect is calculated separately. A good alternative for Evelyn, which can significantly increase her attack power, and, therefore, overall damage. The bodyguard will be able to easily activate the passive, since she will regularly use basic attacks. It lags behind the signature by about 20-25%. |
Marcato Reverb | Base attack: 40-594 Crit chance. hit rate: 8-20% | Increases the owner's attack power by 6-9.6% for 8 seconds when an enhanced special attack or chain of attacks hits an enemy. Attack power is additionally increased by 6-9.6% if the target is in an attribute anomaly state. A good 4-star option that allows you to increase Evelyn's critical chance and attack power. However, to get the second buff, you will have to fulfill additional conditions in the form of more frequent use of enhanced special attacks and accelerating the accumulation of fire anomaly in the enemy (it is recommended to take Bernice in the party). |
Artillery Rotor | Base attack: 40-594 Critical hit chance: 8-20% | Attack power is increased by 7.5-12%. When dealing a critical hit to an enemy, additional damage is dealt equal to 200% of attack power. Cannot be triggered more often than once every 8-6 seconds. Gives Evelyn the critical chance she needs and increases her attack power, although not very much. She will be able to activate the second part of the passive without any problems, as she will crit often. |
Star of the streets | Base attack: 40-594 Attack power: 10-25% | When a squad member launches a chain of attacks, the agent with this item gains 1 charge level. Can stack up to 3 times. Using the super ability consumes all charges. Each charge effect increases the damage dealt by the skill by 15-24%. Also gives a lot of attack power and can increase the heroine's overall damage. You will not have problems with activating the passive, because Eveline will perform them constantly. |
Star Engine | Base Attack: 40-594 Attack Power: 10-25% | When performing a counterattack after an evasion or quick assist, the agent with this item's attack power is increased by 12-19.2% for 12 seconds. Significantly increases attack power, therefore increasing the heroine's overall damage. However, you will have to use quick assist or counterattack more often after dodging, which does not really match Eveline's gameplay. |
Best Drive Discs
It is recommended to choose artifacts that increase critical damage, critical hit chance, fire damage or attack power. Options that enhance attack chains will also be useful. The table below shows the best Drive Disc options for this heroine.
Name | Bonuses | Benefits |
---|---|---|
Inferno Metal | 2 pieces: Increases fire damage by 10%. 4 pieces: When hitting a burning enemy, the wearer's critical hit chance is increased by 28% for 8 seconds. | The optimal choice for Evelyn in a fire mono pack, since you will need to constantly maintain Burn on enemies. However, try to keep an eye on the crit. chance parameter, so as not to accidentally go beyond 100%. It is recommended to combine it with Dyatlokor-electro (2 parts; if the crit. chance is not enough), Hormon-punk (2 parts) or Song of the Branch and the Blade (2 parts). |
Dyatlokor-Electro | 2 pieces: Increases critical hit chance by 8%. 4 pieces: Each time a basic attack, counterattack after dodging, or empowered special attack deals critical damage, the wearer gains 1 level of buff. For each stack, the wearer's attack power increases by 9% for 6 seconds. The buff duration varies for different skills. | A good option for Evelyn if she is the only fire character in the team (but can be used in mono fire packs). With it, you can increase her attack power and critical hit chance, making it easier for yourself to balance stats. It is recommended to combine it with Inferno Metal (2 parts) or Song of the Branch and Blade (2 parts). |
As for the main characteristics of drive discs, then your choice should look like this:
- IV-sector: crit. chance/crit. damage in a ratio of 1 to 2.
- V-sector: fire damage bonus (priority) or attack power%.
- VI-sector: attack power%.
- Substats: critical damage = crit chance > attack% > penetration.
If we talk about recommended values of Evelyn's parameters, they should look something like this:
- Attack: 2600-3000+ units
- Health: 9600+
- Defense: 800+
- Critical Hit Chance: 75%
- Critical Damage: 150%+
Best Teams for Evelin
F2P Team
Main DD | Sub DD | Support | Banbu |
---|---|---|---|
Evelyn | Enby | Nicole | Packet (Avocabu, Barobu, Knight) |
A classic free team for hypercarry with Nicole and Enby. The first will debuff enemies, and the second will stun them, allowing Evelin to deal increased damage. With maximum pumping and opening all mental abilities for epic characters, you can even complete endgame content with this squad.
Stun commands
Main DD | Sub DD | Support | Banbu |
---|---|---|---|
Evelin | Lighter (Kolyada) | Astra | Clicker (Crybaby, Rocketbaby, Knightba) |
Evelin | Qingyi | Rina | Plug (Electrobu) |
Evelin | Kolyada | Lucy | Rocketaboo (Crybaby) |
Evelin | Lighter | Caesar | Red Mokkus (Rocketaboo, Plaxaboo) |
Here is a classic team with intimidation and support characters. The first option is considered the best, since Astra is an ideal support for Eveline, increasing the number of her attack chains, as well as increasing her overall damage, attack power and critical damage. Lightyear will increase her fire damage and effectively stun enemies.
However, Astra can be replaced with Rina (increases the chance of penetration and the duration of Shock), Caesar (provides a shield and significantly increases attack power) or Lucy (increases attack power), and Lightyear can be replaced with Qingyi or Kolyada, who also stun opponents without any problems.
Teams for two supports
Main DD | Sub DD | Support | Banbu |
---|---|---|---|
Evelin | Caesar | Astra | Clicker (Knight) |
Evelin | Bernice | Lucy | Rocketaboo (Plaksaboo, Zlobnobu) |
If you don't have a good intimidation character, but you have Caesar, you can take her into your team, as she will give you a strong shield, increase your attack power and will also be able to stun your opponents if you learn how to counterattack perfectly.
When using Inferno Metal, you can assemble a squad with Bernice, who will quickly cast Burn on enemies and deal fire damage from her pocket. Lucy will also speed up the accumulation of the anomaly and give a bonus to attack power.
Leveling up Evelyn
The table below shows the materials needed to increase the level, skills and inclinations of the heroine, as well as their total amount.
Level up | Skill up | Inclination up |
