The forest is decorated with spider webs, glowing pumpkins and mysterious houses, where you can have a good old Trick or Treat – that is, knock and hope that you are given a treat rather than a curse. This means that in99 Nights in the WoodsHalloween has arrived. The event will last from October 18 to November 15, 2025, and during this time you can collect a lot of candies and useful items.
How to participate in the Halloween event
To start the Halloween fun, you will need Halloween Candle(Halloween candle) is a special candle with which you activate houses for crawling. Without it, you won't be able to knock on the NPC's door.
Candles are obtained in different ways:
- From chests
- Dropped by cultists
In the first days the drop chance is small, but every night it grows. After the fourth day, candles begin to drop noticeably more often, especially if you hunt cultists in places where they are usually most numerous.
How the Trick or Treat event works
Once you have the candle, find NPC dwellings. They are marked on the map with a gray house with a candy symbol.
Go to the door, place a candle at the threshold – the house will be available for the event. Now we just have to wait until nightfall. Only in the dark you can knock and find out whether you are lucky or not.
After you knock on the house, the NPC inside will think for a few seconds and decide what awaits you: trick or treat.
If you are lucky and get the drop treat (sweetness), you will receive useful items, food or even weapons. If you get a trick (muck), then get ready for fun troubles:
- Your backpack may spill out onto the ground
- The screen will be covered by a giant pumpkin
- A metal ball will be attached to your leg, preventing movement
- You may be turned into a frog and then thrown somewhere
- Or simply thrown away from home
Even if you are pranked, you will still receive three candies. And if you use the Trick or Treater class, you will get four goodies and a higher chance of a successful result.
Who lives in these houses
Each house is not just a decoration, but a specific character. Here is a list of all the houses that you can visit:

Black House | Cultist with a crossbow |
Crimson House | Melee Cultist |
Brown House | Hide Trader |
Orange House | Furniture Merchant |

Each of the residents reacts differently, and the set of rewards is slightly different.
