Forgive or imprison Illario in Dragon Age The Veilguard: what should Lucanis choose

At the end of the Lucanis quest chain in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, you will have to challenge his cousin Illario. After fighting him, you will be required to make a decision on the traitor's fate yourself.

We will tell you whether to forgive or imprison Illario in our guide.

The consequences of forgiving or imprisoning Illario

This choice will only be possible at the end of Lucanis's quest chain, at the end of the quest “Murder of Crows”. You can only get it after completing all side quests Treviso and the Antivan Crows.

After infiltrating the Dellamorte mansion, Lucanis will come face to face with Illario. After defeating him, you will have to choose what to do with the traitor who is ready to hand over the Crows to the Venatori.

Forgive Illario

Choosing the option “He is dear to you. Spare him”, you will persuade Lucanis to forgive his brother and childhood best friend. In response to Illario's own indignation, Katarina will proclaim Lucanis First Claw. Lucanis, in turn, will give the traitor a second chance, ordering the Crows to keep an eye on him.

Important: You will not be able to persuade Lucanis to forgive Illario if you previously chose to save Minrathous. Illario will be imprisoned in the dungeon, and Lucanis will receive rewards according to his choice.

With new equipment and skills, Lucanis will receive an upgrade based on increasing resistance, explosions, and damage to the enemy barrier.

Send Illario to imprisonment

To encourage Lucanis to imprison Illario, choose the second option “There is no justification for his actions”. Lucanis will agree with you and, as the new First Claw, will order Viago to put Illario behind bars.

This choice will allow Lucanisu improve his overall damage, and also increase the potential to stun the enemy with explosions. This skill, along with the armor, is more focused on increasing the power of attacks.

We recommend choosing send Illario to prison, since this will increase Lucanis's overall damage, unlike the rewards for forgiveness, which are focused on the support capabilities of the companion. Your choice will NOT affect the main plot. At least in this part of the series.
