Boss Feixiao in Honkai: Star Rail— a plot enemy, Hulei, who incarnated as General Yaoqing to fight her. She is also a weekly boss, dropping soul feathers and other useful resources. In the guide, we will analyze the characteristics and skills of Feixiao and develop a strategy for defeating the monster.
Where to find Feixiao
The first fight with Feixiao takes place in the story quest “The Blade Shines, the Fox Loses Its Mind”. In the quest, you will encounter both variations of the enemy: Crazy Feixiao and Shadow “Feixiao”. Crazy Feixiao is essentially the first phase of the Shadow with the same skills. After completing the story, “Echo of War: Battlefield of the Inner Beast” appears in the location “Sky Cleaver”.
Boss Feixiao Characteristics
Shadow has quantum, physical, and fire vulnerabilities, while having 20% resistance to other damage types and 100% resistance to any control effects.
In phases 2 and 3, Feixiao will be joined by her Inner Beast, which consists of three parts, each with its own characteristics.
Nebula Eater – Beast Head. Has quantum, fire and wind vulnerabilities.
Destructive Claws have wind and fire weaknesses.
Sweeping Tail has physical and quantum vulnerabilities.
Recommended Characters
The battle is largely based on breaking through Feixiao's vulnerability: before breaking through, it deals increased damage, while after depleting the stamina bar, its effect is delayed, and the damage becomes less. Therefore, it is better to make up a team of heroes that play from this mechanic (Firefly, Boothill), or take supports that increase the effect of breaking through (Ruan Mei, Pathfinder on the Path of Harmony).
Another good option would be bonus attack commands, especially since most characters with this mechanic have suitable damage types (Clara, Topaz, Jasper). The more you attack the enemy, the faster his vulnerability will break through. In the story mode, your squad will get a trial Feixiao, for which it is also important that allies attack as often as possible.
If you don't have many heroes with the required damage types, pay attention to characters that can independently apply vulnerabilities (Silver Wolf) or ignore vulnerability types (Acheron, Feixiao, Xueyi). If you take a Wolf into your squad, try to make a team that is not too diverse in damage types – for example, a mono-quantum will show itself well in this battle.
If your squad has only one hero capable of inflicting high damage on one target (Boothill, for example), and there is no support damage dealer, it is worth taking supports that increase the speed or advance the action of an ally (Armor, Sparkle). The ideal option would be either one damage dealer with area damage (Firefly), or two damage dealers with different attack styles to affect all enemies at once.
As for healers/shielders, we strongly recommend taking characters that can remove debuffs – mainly healers (Locha, Natasha, Lynx). It is desirable that they have a high resistance to effects, so that they themselves do not get unpleasant limiting statuses and, if necessary, save other allies.
Best Teams
Main Damage Dealer | Support-DD | Support-DD/Support | Support |
---|---|---|---|
Firefly | Pioneer (Harmony) | Ruan Mei | Gallagher |
Qingque | Silver Wolf (Jasper) | Sparkle | Fu Xuan |
Feixiao | Topaz | Robin | Aventurine |
Boothill | Armor | Ruan Mei | Gallagher |
Xuei | March 7 (Hunt) | Asta | Lynx (Natasha) |
Feixiao's Battle Phases and Attacks
The battle takes place in 3 phases. In Phase 1, Feixiao is the only opponent, in Phases 2 and 3, the Inner Beast appears. Each of its 3 body parts has its own skills.
All of the boss's attacks deal wind damage.
First Phase
Sabre Musket: Sword Fang
Attacks one target.
Giant Axe: Iron Claw
Attacks one target and has a high chance of inflicting Powerlessness (a status that reduces your hero's outgoing damage) on them.
Heavenly Bonds
Gets a buff and an additional action.
Passing Tornado
Attacks the entire squad.
Defense
With the Defense status, the creature receives reduced damage. After the Shadow's vulnerability is broken, the status is removed, the enemy's action is delayed, and the damage they receive is increased.
Second Phase
An Inner Beast appears on the field. Each of its body parts has the Defense status described above. In addition, all parts of the Inner Beast and Feixiao itself have a common HP bar.
In the second and third phases, Feixiao retains all the skills from the first phase, only new attacks will be described below.
Beast Joint Strike
In the additional action, the Shadow resonates with the Inner Beast. Restores a certain amount of durability to its body parts and increases the durability depleted by attacks. Resonating with different parts gives different effects.
Nebula Eater
Breath of Ether
When in resonance with Feixiao, attacks the entire squad and has a high probability of inflicting Fury on heroes – a status in which you lose control over the character, and he attacks random enemies.
Cloud Eating
Attacks the entire squad.
Destructive Claws
Break the Firmament
When in resonance with Feixiao, attacks one target and adjacent heroes.
Space Rupture
Attacks one target and adjacent characters.
Sweeping Tail
Destruction of the Universe
When in resonance with Feixiao, attacks the entire squad and has a high probability of inflicting Powerlessness on characters.
Purification of the World
Attacks the entire squad.
Phase Three
Shrouded in the Storm
Resonates with all parts of the Inner Beast, removing their vulnerability pierce. During this turn, Feixiao cannot be attacked. In the next action, uses the skill described below.
Overwhelming the Heavens, Devouring the Earth
Conducts a powerful attack on all heroes and strengthens itself depending on the body parts with unpierced vulnerability. The damage from this skill increases by 250% of the attack if the head and tail vulnerabilities are not pierced, and by 350% if the claws are not pierced.
How to defeat Feixiao
Pierce through vulnerabilities
Enemies in any phase have the Defense status, which reduces the damage they take until their vulnerability is broken. The faster the durability bar is depleted, the more damage you can deal.
Interrupt the Resonance
In the second and third phases, after using Heavenly Bonds, Feixiao resonates with the Inner Beast and enhances the next action. Pay attention to which part is about to go down next and direct all damage to it.
Don't let Feixiao deal massive damage
In phase 3, when Feixiao uses “Storm Wrapped”, try to quickly pierce the vulnerabilities of all parts of the Inner Beast so that the next attack does not receive a damage bonus or so that it is minimal. If you can't pierce several enemies at once, focus on one. First of all, we recommend piercing the claws' fortitude, since they provide the largest increase in damage. At the same time, having broken through the vulnerability of one part, immediately switch to another: continuing to attack the part with depleted tenacity, you will lose the chance to weaken the boss.
Prepare for the Next Phases
Try not to use powerful attacks when the enemy has 10% or less HP left. It is worth saving all ultimates for the beginning of the 2nd and 3rd phases: this will help you quickly break through vulnerabilities and defeat the boss.
Achievements for Feixiao
Both trophies belong to the “Thirst for Battle” section and give 5 jades.
Are you angry?
To get the achievement, you need to break the vulnerability of all parts of the Inner Beast while Feixiao uses the skill “Shrouded in the Storm” in phase 3. To have time to do this, we recommend taking Sparkle/Armor into battle, or characters that quickly accumulate the ult or restore energy to allies (Tingyun, Hoho). Once Feixiao uses a skill and starts charging a powerful attack, use all available skills to penetrate the Inner Beast's vulnerabilities.
When this downpour stops…
To get the achievement, you need to make sure that none of the Inner Beast parts use an enhanced action. To do this, in phase 2 and 3, every time Feixiao activates “Heavenly Bonds”, break through the vulnerabilities of all parts of the beast.
