In Genshin Impact, “Ironbeard” is a powerful enemy from the Night Realm, belonging to a group of local legends of Natlan. By successfully completing the conditions and passing the associated “Trial of Initiative”, you will be able to unlock three new achievements from the “Duelist II” collection – one for each victory, giving a total of 35 Primogems.
In this guide, we will tell you how to get to Ironbeard and defeat him, collecting all the named achievements of the local legend. We will describe how the warrior with a hammer attacks and which of the characters is best to take into the squad for the fight with him.
Iron Beard achievements: how to unlock them all
The following achievements may become available to you in the battle against Iron Beard:
- 1st achievement (+5 Primogems): defeat Iron Beard in battle for the first time;
- 2nd achievement (+10 Primogems): Defeat Ironbeard by destroying all the scarlet spikes before the legend does;
- 3rd achievement (+20 Primogems): Defeat Ironbeard without taking damage from his attacks.
Select each achievement separately, as it is impossible to get three at once.
Where is the local legend Ironbeard?
Ironbeard can be reached by touching the black obsidian on the hill northeast of the Flowerfeather Clan. The map above shows where the totem is that sends you to the arena in the Night Realm.
“Fire that Tempers All” has prepared a “Test of Initiative” for opponents»: from time to time, the warrior with a hammer creates scarlet stones in the arena, which can be used not only by the enemy, but also by our characters. Seize the initiative and manage to break the spike before the boss does it to provoke an explosion, deal great pyro damage and stun the enemy for a short time.
Legendary's Combat Techniques
The warrior with a hammer has few special attacks, and he deals the main damage from Molten Spikes. Here are all the enemy's techniques:
- Melee
The warrior mainly attacks with swings of the hammer, before that slowly approaching us to close the distance.
If you approach the legend closely, there is a chance to provoke his jump attack: the warrior strikes in front of himself, and then jumps back with recoil, thus evading our blows.
One of the options for creating a thorn is a series of three hammer blows, at the end of which the legend leaves a scarlet stone on the field.
- Absorbing the Molten Thorn
From the moment the spike is created, we have about 8 seconds to destroy it. Otherwise, the legend will have time to do it himself, and a shock wave will appear at a fairly large radius from the broken spike, instantly killing almost any hero.
Squads for the “Test of Initiative”
Ironbeard is not the most difficult enemy, but to fight him, you cannot do without heroes who can quickly make attacks while falling (or create structures that allies can climb onto). Let's analyze the gameplay using the following squads as an example:

Among the epic characters, there are only two who can quickly and without unnecessary investment destroy the spikes. Available to everyone, Geo Traveler sets up a structure on the field from which you can attack the scarlet stone in a jump.
Another option is Ororon, who can hover in the air thanks to Night Spirit. The spike can be easily broken if you jump behind the character and press the falling attack right above the target.

Among the legendary heroes, it is worth choosing those whose skills facilitate attacks from the air:
- Xiao's ult is sharpened for attacks during a fall and it can be saved for destroying the spike (put him anemo supports like Faruzan, who help pour energy into the super ability);
- The distance between the spike and the legend is quite small, so Xian Yun's E-ka, aiming at the enemy, almost always hits the stone with a shockwave and quickly explodes it. And the buff from her ult increases the jump height of all teammates, making any of them capable of attacking with air strikes;
- Al-Haytham sets aiming marks with E-ka, to which he can instantly move. Place such a mark above the spike, teleport behind the hero and press the normal attack to hit the spike from above;
Two-handed swords are also suitable for attacks, but only well-pumped ones (keep in mind that the stone takes quite a long time to hit from the hand). Below we will list all the heroes who can break the scarlet stone in one hit.

How to defeat “Iron Beard”
Let's start with using the appropriate food buffs – they will speed up the process of fighting any local legend. You should have no problems with Iron Beard if you try to use a few simple tips in battle:
- Chop Molten Thorns in time
When a scarlet stone appears on the field, you have two options:
- Run away as far as possible to avoid getting hit by the shockwave ((suitable for the first and third achievements). The enemy will not pursue you at this time;
- Quickly attack the stone in the fall, thereby temporarily stunning the enemy, who will receive quite a lot of pyro damage.
If you want to get the second achievement, during the entire battle you will have to seize the initiative each time and use the stone against the legend.
- Use the stun time to attack the enemy
According to legend, our spike explosion deals more than 560 thousand units of fire damage (considering that the enemy is at the maximum level of 103). According to the conditions of the third achievement, you should not be hit by any of Iron Beard's attacks – try not to get close until the stone appears, then break it and use stun time (~ 5 seconds) to activate the main abilities of the damage dealers.

How to repeat the fight with “Iron Beard”
The fight with Iron Beard can be repeated at any time and an unlimited number of times using a stone outside the arena. Our hero appears in front of him if you interrupt the trial (English key “P” on PC), win or lose to the legend.
