How to get Jane Doe

In the second phase of version 1.1 (September 4), this special operative of the FSB criminal investigation department appeared in the banner, which increased the probability of her drop. In the future, this character can only be obtained using Signal Search. Unfortunately, HoYoverse has never held events in which the reward would be a 5-star fighter, so you definitely won’t be able to get the rat for free.

Jane Doe's Abilities and Their Upgrade Priority

You can read about the heroine's abilities in the game itself, so we decided to add it under the spoiler so as not to increase the size of the article. We also recommend that you study our combat system guide to better understand it.

Basic attacks

Blade Dance

To launch, press the basic attack button (LMB). Jane performs up to 6 strikes in front of herself, dealing physical damage.

Frenzy of Excitement

When Jane performs a Perfect Dodge, Defensive Assist, or a move that deals damage to an enemy, she accumulates the “Excitement Surge” effect. When the “Excitement Surge” effect reaches its maximum, the agent enters the “Excitement Frenzy” state. In the “Excitement Frenzy” state, Jane accumulates Physical Attribute Anomaly 25% faster. In addition, if Jane's Anomaly Knowledge is higher than 120, each additional point of Anomaly Knowledge increases Jane's Attack Power by 2. The total attack power increase in this way cannot exceed 600.

If Jane performs a move that deals damage to an enemy while in the Gaming Frenzy state, it will consume the Gaming Rush effect. Performing a Perfect Dodge or a Defensive Assist will restore the Gaming Rush effect. When the Gaming Rush effect is consumed to zero, Jane exits the Gaming Frenzy state.

Salchow

When Jane enters the “Frenzy of Excitement” state, she gains the ability to perform the basic attack “Salchow” once. To perform this attack, hold the basic attack button (LMB) if Jane has at least one such attack in reserve. Jane performs a series of quick attacks in front of her, followed by a finishing move, dealing physical damage. During the attack chain, hold the normal attack button to extend the attack, and release it to perform the finishing move early. While performing the attack chain, the Interrupt Defense level is increased and Jane takes 40% less damage. Jane is invulnerable during the finishing move. If Jane damages an enemy with the basic attack Salchow while in the state of Excitement Madness, it will restore the effect of Excitement Surge.

Evasion

Evasion: Mirage

Press the dodge button (RMB or L Shift) to quickly slip past an enemy and dodge. While using this skill, the agent is invulnerable. Jane has one additional dodge. Before entering the “Gambling Frenzy” state, Jane can switch between the two dodges. After entering the “Gambling Frenzy” state, Jane can slip between enemies in front of her when dodging.

Dash Attack: Rib Leap

Dash Attack: Phantom Slash

To activate, press the Basic Attack button (LMB) while dodging while in Gaming Frenzy. Jane performs three quick slashes in front of her, dealing physical damage.

Post-Dodge Counter: Misty Haze

To activate, press the Basic Attack button (LMB) after performing a Perfect Dodge. Performing this move after the first dodge causes Jane to slash at enemies in front of her, then slash downwards, dealing physical damage. Performing this move after the second dodge causes the agent to jump and slash at enemies in front of her in a series of three consecutive attacks, dealing physical damage. The character is invulnerable while using this skill.

Counter after Dodge: Dance in the Fog Haze

Additional Attack Assist: Wind Gust

To activate, press the Basic Attack button (LMB) after performing a Defense Assist. Jane jumps up, delivers a quick slash to the enemy, and then performs another horizontal slash, knocking down enemies in a large area in front of her and dealing physical damage. The character is invulnerable while using this skill.

Special Attacks

Air Slash

Press the Special Attack (E) button to activate. Jane jumps up, performs a series of kicks in the air in front of her, and then performs a horizontal sweeping kick, dealing physical damage. While using this skill, her Interrupt Defense is increased.

Air Sweep – Tail Smash

To activate, press the Special Attack button (E) when Jane has enough energy. The agent jumps up, performs a series of kicks in front of him, and then a sweeping horizontal kick, dealing massive physical damage. The character is invulnerable while using this skill.

To activate, select an agent while a chain attack is in progress. Jane dashes between enemies in a large area in front of her, slashing and dealing massive physical damage. When activated, Jane enters the Thrill Frenzy state and the Thrill Rush buff is maxed out. While using this skill, the character is invulnerable.

Ultimate Ability: Final Act

To activate, press the Ultimate (Q) button at maximum decibel level. The agent dashes between enemies in a large area in front of him, performing slashes and then a finishing blow, dealing massive physical damage. When activated, Jane enters the “Frenzy of Excitement” state, and the level of the “Excitement Rush” effect increases to maximum. The character is invulnerable while using this skill.

Inclinations

Main Passive: The Essence of Things

When Jane's attack damages an enemy, the enemy enters the Rat Bite state for 10 seconds. If anyone in the squad hits an enemy in the Rat Bite state with Charge and applies the Cowardice effect, the Cowardice effect is extended by 5 seconds, and the damage from Charge can become critical with a base critical hit chance of 20-40%% and a critical damage value of 50%. Each point of Jane's Anomaly Knowledge further increases the critical hit chance of this effect by 0.1-0.16%.

Additional Ability: Pressure Point

Activates if there are other agents in the squad with the Anomaly specialty or from the same faction. Jane accumulates Physical Attribute Anomaly 20% faster. If an enemy is already in an Attribute Anomaly state, Jane accumulates that enemy's Physical Attribute Anomaly another {15% faster.

As for leveling up the heroine's talents, then the priority should be the inclinations and evasions, as they are the main source of her damage. Next in importance are basic and special attacks (thereby increasing her overall DPS).

Jane Doe in ZZZ: a guide to the best build

Once you have maximized the specified abilities, you can move on to pumping up chains of blows (ult), increasing Jane's overall damage. Pump up Assist last, as it provides noticeably less benefit than other skills.

Mental picture of Jane Doe

To open it, you need to save Agent Profiles, which are given out when duplicates of the heroine fall out, which, of course, is random. Considering the small chance of getting 5-star characters, you will need to spend a lot of time and money to unlock all the mental girls. However, even without them, Jane can easily play the role of main DD.

Jane Doe in ZZZ: Guide to the Best Build

The table below lists all the mentals, their descriptions and benefits for the heroine.

NameBonusUsefulness
Consultant on the psychology of criminalsJane can use her basic attack Salchow one more time. In the state of “Frenzy of Excitement”, Jane accumulates Physical Attribute Anomaly by 15% more effectively, and each point of Jane's Anomaly Knowledge increases her damage by 0.1% (up to a maximum of 30%).This mentality will help Jane trigger “Rush” faster and use the special move “Salchow” twice in one state of “Frenzy of Excitement”. It brings medium-high benefit.
Who You KeepWhen Jane's attack hits an enemy in the Rat Bite state or when someone in the party applies the Rush effect to an enemy in the Rat Bite state, 15% of the enemy's defense is ignored. If Rush causes a critical hit, its critical damage is additionally increased by 50%.An excellent mental skill that greatly increases the damage of the heroine's Rush. Brings very high benefits.
AnonymityBase attack, evasion, assist, special attack, chain attack level +2.Average benefit.
Master of improvisationIf someone on the team activates the Onslaught or Chaos effect, the damage from the attribute anomaly for the entire squad increases by 18% for 15 seconds.Anomaly characters begin to deal more damage when Jane is present on the team. This passive will be especially useful in Chaos groups. Brings high benefit.
Rat's ThriftBase attack, evasion, assistance, special attack, chain attack level +2.Average benefit.
Dirty TricksWhile in the Gambling Frenzy state, Jane's Critical Hit Chance is increased by 20% and Critical Damage is increased by 40%. Whenever a squad member inflicts the Rush effect on an enemy, Jane immediately enters the Gambling Frenzy state and increases the level of the Rush effect to the maximum. Whenever Rush causes a Critical Hit, Jane performs an additional attack on that enemy, dealing Physical Damage equal to 1600% of her Abnormality Knowledge. An excellent mental attack that gives a huge boost to the heroine's overall damage, turning her into a real berserker. In addition, it changes Jane's gameplay, allowing her to activate her special mode almost immediately.

If you still decide to try your luck, you can stop at M1 and M2, thanks to which you can significantly increase Jane Doe's overall damage. If you have a choice between a starting mental attack and a signature weapon, we advise you to take the second option, since the signature will bring more benefits.

How to play as Jane Doe

Basic Combinations

Jane Doe in ZZZ: Guide to the Best Build

Her gameplay is built around accumulating the “Tide of Excitement” scale (it is located in the upper left corner of the screen) and entering the “Madness of Excitement” state (the bar turns red), which increases the heroine's damage and accelerates the accumulation of anomaly in enemies. You can collect the scale by the following actions:

  • Any techniques that deal damage are not the most effective method, since the accumulation is relatively slow, and the damage from Jane will be relatively small.
  • A chain of attacks and superpowers immediately fill the scale to the maximum, allowing you to instantly go into an enhanced state. But before this, you first need to stun the enemy or accumulate decibels, so this method can be considered situational.
  • Dodges are a good option, as each successful dodge fills the bar by about 15-20%. If you add counters here, you can completely fill the bar in 4 dodges.
  • Defensive Assist is the best option, as it instantly fills the bar to 69%. All you need to do is dodge 1-2 times to enter the enhanced mode. So we recommend starting the fight with an ally (like Seth), and then using Assist to switch to Jane and activate Excitement Madness almost instantly. The gif below shows an example of this tactic.

In Excitement Madness, don't start mindlessly hitting all the enemies left and right, otherwise you will quickly use up the corresponding bar. The thing is, you can extend its effect. The main method for this is the Salchow technique., which you can only perform once per “Madness of Excitement” (without M1). It restores about 30% of the bar.

Note that when using “Salchow”, the heroine takes 40% less damage, and during the finishing blow, she becomes completely invulnerable. So if you see that the enemy is about to perform an attack, simply release the attack button to avoid taking damage. You can find out that you can perform “Salchow” by the red flashing button located to the right of the “Tide of Excitement” bar.

The second way to restore the scale involves using perfect dodge – it restores about 20% of the bar, and subsequent counterattacks spend relatively few points. Let us add that immediately after the counterattack, when switching to normal attacks, you will immediately perform the 5th and 6th hits of the chain, during which the heroine is also invulnerable.

So, after entering “Frenzy of Excitement”, we recommend that you always use “Salchow” and mainly use dodges followed by counterattacks and two normal attacks to extend the duration of the enhanced mode as much as possible. You can also activate enhanced special attacks when they are ready. In general, the rotation will look like this:

  1. Build up Excitement Rush with Dodges or Defense Assist to quickly enter Excitement Frenzy.
  2. Start using Perfect Dodges followed by Counterattacks and 2 Normal Attacks to deal maximum damage to enemies and maintain Enhanced Mode. When ready, use Enhanced Special Attacks.
  3. When the Excitement Rush gauge drops below half, use Salchow to deal additional damage and extend Excitement Frenzy again.
  4. Let's remember that the ult can instantly enter the “Madness of Excitement” or completely restore its scale, so use the super ability either when the bar approaches 0 or if it is blue.

Advanced Combos

The information above should be enough to deal massive damage to your enemies as Jane. However, if you want to maximize her potential, you can try learning some advanced techniques. For example, after dodging, you can simultaneously press the attack and assist buttons to perform two attacks at once, dealing massive damage to your opponent.

If you have a support player on your team that can buff Jane, like Seth, try to use Quick Aid in the “Frenzy of Excitement” mode. For example, the cat-boy will be able to give the rat an Unwavering Shield, which will increase her knowledge of the anomaly. However, such a move will not increase the “Frenzy of Excitement” scale, which is why you will have to monitor it even more carefully.

As for the enhanced special attack, it is excellent for calling “Chaos”. For example, you can call “Shock” with Grace's attacks, and then perform an enhanced E to trigger “Chaos” and deal a huge amount of damage.

However, you should be careful when using this technique when the enemy's Anomaly bar is fully accumulated (the circle next to his health bar). The fact is that in this case, the enhanced special attack will not provide an additional anomaly, and it will simply go nowhere.

Advantages and disadvantages of Jane Doe

With the help of her unique abilities, the rat can inflict significant physical damage to both single targets and large groups of enemies. Her advantages also include:

  • A very mobile character, even without the “Madness of Excitement” state activated, since she can make as many as 3 dashes instead of 2.
  • Able to extremely quickly and consistently accumulate physical Anomaly, leading to very frequent triggers of “Onslaught”.
  • Can cause Charge to critically hit an enemy, an additional multiplier that no other Anomaly hero has at the time of Jane's release.
  • Deals massive damage both on and off the field (during attack chains and defensive assists), making her a valuable damage dealer throughout the entire battle.
  • A skilled player can extend her “Frenzy of Excitement” almost indefinitely through dodges and other abilities, keeping her in a boosted state at all times.
  • She can easily play the role of a hypercarry or combine with other Anomaly damage dealers in Chaos squads, which significantly increases her flexibility when building teams and makes her a very promising heroine for the future.
  • She has wide sweeping attacks, so she can deal damage to several opponents at once and control the crowd.
  • Increasing Knowledge of the Anomaly also increases Attack Power in the “Madness of Excitement” state, which greatly simplifies her build, since you can pay attention to fewer characteristics.
  • She is able to perfectly fulfill her main role without opening the Mental Picture, which will certainly appeal to F2P players.

Jane Doe in ZZZ: a guide to the best build

However, Jane cannot be called an ideal character, since she also has her drawbacks:

  • Her gameplay with the need to constantly build up the “Excitement Surge” meter can seem a bit tedious, especially if she can't hold “Excitement Madness” for long.
  • The heroine's effectiveness drops significantly when fighting enemies that do not have an Anomaly meter. Fortunately, there are few such opponents in the game.
  • Significantly loses strength if she cannot obtain enough Anomaly Knowledge to increase her attack power and other stats.
  • Sometimes it can lose a lot of damage due to the anomaly scale recharge (remember that its enhanced special attack does not lead to the accumulation of the next bar).

The best build for Jane Doe

The best amplifiers

The table below presents the most interesting options.

NameCharacteristicsAbility and benefit

Jane Doe in ZZZ: Best Build Guide

Sharpened Spikes

Base Attack: 56-714

Anomaly Knowledge: 36-90

When activating a dash attack, the wearer gains 1 level of the “Predator Instinct” effect. Each stack increases the owner's physical damage by 12-24% for 10 seconds. The bonus stacks up to 3 times and is triggered once every 0.5 seconds. Repeated launches reset the duration. When entering the battlefield or activating ideal dodge, the wearer gains 3 stacks at once. With 3 levels, the efficiency of the owner's anomaly accumulation increases by 40-80%.

A signature for Jane that enhances all of her parameters. Outpaces the closest alternative by at least 20%, so if you have a choice between Sharpened Spikes or M1, take the weapon.

Jane Doe in ZZZ: A Guide to the Best Build

Built-in Compiler

Base Attack: 46-684

Penetration Chance: 9.6-24%

Attack Power Increases by 12-24%. When launching a Special Attack or Enhanced Special Attack, the agent's Anomaly Knowledge with this item increases by 25-50. The effect stacks up to 3 times and lasts for 8 sec. The duration of each level is calculated separately.

Jane doesn't use special attacks as often as Grace, as it will significantly speed up the exit from “Mad Excitement”, so it will be harder to gain passive. Overall, this is a good amplifier, which, however, is inferior to the signature by 20%.

Jane Doe in ZZZ: a guide to the best build

Crying Twins

Base attack: 40-594

Attack Power: 10-25%

When a squad member casts an attribute anomaly on an enemy, the agent with this item gains 1 additional level of the effect, which increases their knowledge of the anomaly by 30-48 points. This effect can be stacked up to 4 times and disappears if the target comes out of the stun state or is destroyed. The duration of each effect is calculated separately.

It can be purchased from the toy store, and at the 5th rank of improvement it lags behind the signature one by only 15% (if all conditions are met). Stacks are collected quite quickly in packs on “Chaos”.

Jane Doe in ZZZ: a guide to the best build

Electro Lip Gloss

Base attack: 40-594

Anomaly knowledge: 30-75

If there are enemies with an attribute anomaly on the battlefield, the attack power of the agent with this item increases by 10-16%, and the damage of the target agent by 15-25%.

At the 5th rank of improvement and with all active bonuses, it lags behind the signature by only 10-13%, but to get 5 copies of the amplifier, you will have to pour a lot of money into the game (it is better to spend it on knocking out Sharpened Spikes). In addition, it takes some time to activate the passive, so at the beginning of the battle, the damage from the weapon will be mediocre. This is why we placed it below the previous option.

Jane Doe in ZZZ: Guide to the Best Build

Roaring Car

Base Attack: 40-594

Attack Power: 10-25%

When an enhanced special attack hits an enemy, one random effect out of three is triggered for 5 sec. Triggers once every 0.3 sec., identical effects do not stack, repeated triggers reset the duration. Different effects can exist simultaneously. Possible effects: – the attack power of the agent with this item increases by 8-12.8%; – the knowledge of the anomaly of the agent with this item increases by 40-64 units; – the efficiency of accumulation of the attribute anomaly increases by 25-40%.

As we noted above, Jane doesn't often use special attacks, as they reduce the duration of “Madness of Excitement”, but the passive will still be very useful to her. The bonus to attack power will increase the heroine's overall damage.

Jane Doe in ZZZ: Guide to the Best Build

Tropical Gourmet

Base attack: 40-594

Knowledge of anomaly: 30-75

For every 10 energy spent, an agent with this item gains an attack boost of 2.5-4% for 10 sec. The effect stacks up to 10 times, with each level duration counted separately.

Due to the infrequent use of special attacks, it will be difficult to stack Jane's passive. However, this is slightly compensated by the secondary characteristic. Let us remind you that knowledge of the anomaly will be converted into the heroine's attack power.

Fierce Heavy Metal

Jane Doe in ZZZ: A Guide to the Best Build

Freedom Blues (2 parts)

2 parts: Increases physical damage by 10%.

4 parts: When a team member performs Charge on an enemy, the wearer deals 35% more damage for 12 seconds.

2 parts: Increases knowledge of the anomaly by 30 units.

The best option for Jane, as it gives a direct bonus to physical damage and further increases damage when calling “Charge”, and you will trigger it often, especially if there are other physical heroes in the team, such as Piper or Nekomata. Knowledge of the anomaly can also provide an additional bonus to attack power.

As for the main characteristics of the drive disks, your choice should look like this:

  • IV sector: knowledge of the anomaly.
  • V sector: physical damage bonus (priority) or penetration chance%.
  • VI sector: anomaly control (priority) or attack power%.
  • Substats: knowledge of the anomaly > attack power% > penetration chance.

As for recommended values of Jane's parameters, they should look something like this:

  • Attack: 2400-2900 units
  • Health: 9000+
  • Defense: 800+
  • Anomaly Knowledge: 360-420 units (at 420 units you will be able to get an additional 600 units of attack power)
  • Anomaly Control: 150-195 units

In both cases, Seth is a great support, helping to activate Jane's additional ability, increase her Knowledge of Anomaly, and reduce the resistance to the accumulation of Anomaly in enemies.

If we consider Nekomata, she will be a great ally for Jane, making it easier for her to impose Charge on enemies by increasing the effectiveness of enhanced special attacks.

As for Rina, she can give Jane a significant bonus to the chance of penetration, thereby increasing her damage from Onslaught. However, without M1, the duration of the maid's buff is rather short. In the absence of Rina, you can try taking Lucy instead, who can give a 600 attack buff to Jane.
