Kachina in Genshin Impact: Best Build Guide

In Genshin Impact, Kachina is a 4-star character belonging to the Geo element and using a spear in battle. In a squad, she can act as a secondary damage dealer with an emphasis on support. In this guide, you can learn about her best build, weapons and artifacts, as well as recommended teams with her.

How to get Kachina

In the first phase of update 5.0, the young warrior from Nanatskian appeared in the banner, which increased the chance of her dropping. Then she will be added to the standard Prayer, which will reduce the chance of the spearwoman dropping. At the same time, the developers often hold events in which 4-star heroes are given away for free. We will definitely inform you about this when the corresponding event appears.

We will add that you will be able to get Kachina absolutely free during the passage of the first chapter of the Natlan story arc called “Flowers under the scorching sun”. You will need to reach the settlement of the Children of Echoes and talk to the cute warrior.

Kachina's Abilities

When performing a normal “Rockbiter” attack, the character makes up to 4 strikes with the spear, and when charged, she lunges forward, spending a certain amount of stamina and dealing damage to all enemies in her path. In the case of a falling attack, she quickly rushes to the ground, and upon landing, deals damage to the area.

Explanation: Normal, unremarkable normal attacks that you will rarely use outside of an elemental skill.

After using the elemental skill “Forward, Turbo Vortex!”The heroine summons a drill (considered a Geo construct) and receives 60 Night Spirit points, switching to the Night Spirit Blessing mode. The drill's actions consume points, and when they are completely spent, Kachina exits the corresponding state.

The turbo vortex can either exist separately or become Kachina's transport. To get into the drill, you need to press the elemental skill button again (or initially use a long press of the E key). In the first form, it simply periodically hits the ground, inflicting Geo damage to the area with the Night Spirit property, the size of which depends on the heroine's Defense.

If you get on the turbo whirlwind, you can start controlling it to quickly move around the location or hit enemies with it by pressing the normal attack button – in this case, the drill deals increased Geo damage over an area, which also depends on the character's Defense parameter.

Explanation: For sub-DD, the separate existence of the drill will be a more preferable option. It will deal relatively small Geo damage with an interval of 2 seconds. In one action of E-shka, it will manage to perform 6 attacks. Quite a good addition for any damage dealer.

The control mode allows you to independently choose the attack speed by pressing the normal attack button. The damage in this case will be slightly greater (at level 10 the difference is about 40%) and it will be possible to inflict it faster, but we still do not advise you to use this form in battle, because in this way you will take time away from your main damager.

The main purpose of the movement mode is the movement itself, since with a full Night Spirit scale you will be able to calmly ride the storm for over 20 seconds within Natlan (unfortunately, in the rest of Teyvat you will be able to ride less), easily overcoming ledges and slopes.  

Burst of the elements “Well, that's it!”allows the heroine to attack the ground with a drill, causing huge Geo damage in an area, the size of which depends on the character's Defense, and create a Turbo Drill zone, increasing the Turbo Vortex's attack area and the speed of her movement while riding the device. If there is already a drill on the field when the ult is activated, it will be summoned to Kachina.

Explanation: Deals pretty good damage to nearby enemies (at level 10 the multiplier is 693%) and increases the radius of Turbo Vortex to 5.2 meters (from 4). So we advise you to use the ult every rotation if possible, so you will have to pay special attention to energy recovery.

We also cannot fail to mention the extremely useful passive talents of the Echo Children warrior. The first of them is called “Mountain Echo” and increases the heroine's Geo damage by 20% for 12 seconds when any of the team members activates Night Spirit Flash.

Explanation: Only Natlan characters can trigger Night Spirit Flash when dealing elemental damage, and the more of them there are in the team, the more often it can be activated: from 18 seconds for one Natlan and up to 9 seconds for 3 or 4. So Kachina will definitely receive this bonus at least once per battle.

The second one – Weight of Monolithic Rock – increases the damage from Turbo Vortex by 20% of the heroine's defense. There is no need to explain anything here.

As for the third passive “Gift of the Night Realm: Heart of Unity”, she gains the ability to use Night Spirit Transfer when in areas of Natlan with phlogiston mechanics. When the active character uses sprint, climbs, is in the movement state of certain talents, or is at a certain height in the air, when switching to Kachina, the following effect is activated: the heroine enters the Blessing of the Night Spirit state, enters the field on Turbo Vortex, and gains 30 Night Spirit points. Night Spirit Transmission can be activated by your party once every 10 seconds.

Explanation: In short, this passive makes it easier for Kachina to move around Natlan, allowing her to maintain the effect of the drill longer.

The heroine also has a special innate passive “Favor of the Crystal Flame”, which restores 20 stamina in areas with the appropriate mechanics in Natlan when interacting with certain items. Plus, it shows local curiosities on the minimap.

Kachina Constellations

Unlocking them requires the character's Luck, which is given when dropping duplicates of the hero, which is, of course, random. However, the probability of getting 4-star characters is much higher than legendary ones, so you can easily open at least a couple of constellations. Here is the full list:

1. Shards are also gems – the heroine picks up the nearest elemental shards that appeared during the Crystal reaction when she gets off or sits on the drill. If a team member takes such a shard, the heroine restores 3 units of energy (the bonus works no more than once every 5 seconds).
2. I always take with me… Turbo Whirlwind – when activating the ult, the heroine receives 20 Night Spirit points. If there is no drill on the battlefield, she will immediately summon it and switch to the Night Spirit Blessing mode.
3. Improved Stabilizer – the skill level increases by three. Maximum level: 15th.
4. More Enemies – More Caution – increases the active hero's defense in the turbo drill zone by 8%/12%/16%/20%, if there are 1/2/3/4 or more enemies in it, respectively.
5. My Current Collection – the ult level increases by three. Maximum level: 15th.
6. This time, I win – when replacing or destroying the shield on the active hero, Kachina deals Geo damage in the area in the amount of 200% of her defense. She can perform this attack no more than once every 5 seconds.

The best constellation for Kachina is C2, which can be reached even within one banner action. With its help, you can extend the action of the E-shka (for an additional 2 attacks), performing an elemental explosion each rotation. The rest of the constellations only give small bonuses that are not very important to the heroine.

How to play as Kachina

Kachina's gameplay is incredibly simple, as all you have to do is activate her elemental skill to deal Geo damage and cause Geo reactions, and you can immediately switch to the main damage dealer. You can monitor the duration of Turbo Vortex by a special bar that will appear above the Natlan warrior's health school (see the screenshot below).

It is advisable to use the drill separately, without sitting on it with Kachina. Although the damage in the second case will be slightly greater, you will thereby take time away from the main DD, which will certainly reduce the overall DPS of the squad. In addition, the effect of the artifact “Scroll of the Hero of the Burnt City” will also work from the pocket.

Why did we even mention this set? The thing is, it gives a huge elemental bonus to allies, significantly increasing their damage, and at the moment (patch 5.0) only Kachina can take full advantage of it. Overall, we recommend you take this heroine in your squad just because of this one set of artifacts, turning her into an excellent sub-DD/support.

To activate it, you only need to activate Kachina's E, and then go into the pocket, switching to the main damage dealer of the Hydro, Pyro, Cryo or Anemo element, who should start throwing elemental statuses at enemies to activate the Crystal reaction and receive a damage bonus. At the same time, not only the active hero can receive an increase, but also other sub-DDs, if their own abilities are in effect. As a result, you can, for example, get a 40% bonus to Pyro, Geo and Cryo at once.

If we talk about Kachina's elemental explosion, then if there is a 2nd constellation, it should be used every rotation, and it will begin with the activation of the ult, because Turbo Vortex will immediately appear on the field. This will also allow you to expand the radius of the latter. In general, the optimal rotation for this heroine will look like this:

1. Activate other support and sub-DD's pocket abilities that buff the main damage dealer and allow you to create reactions.
2. Switch to Kachina and immediately use her ult (if you have C2) or just activate her elemental skill.
3. Switch to the main damage dealer and use his elemental attacks to create a Crystal reaction and get the bonus from the artifact set.
4. If you don't have C2, this is the moment to use the ult to deal additional Geo damage and buff your E in the second rotation.

Advantages and disadvantages of Kachina

Using her unique abilities, this heroine can deal damage from the pocket and strengthen allies. Her advantages also include:

• Turbo Vortex can exist separately, even if Kachina is not on the battlefield, allowing you to deal Geo damage and create a Crystal reaction. At the same time, it is enough to simply press one button, which makes her gameplay incredibly easy to master.
• She is an optimal carrier of the “Scroll of the Hero of the Burnt City” set, turning her into an excellent support, capable of significantly increasing the damage inflicted by allies.
• Pairs well with Cryo, Pyro, Electro and Anemo characters that allow you to summon the Crystal.
• She does not require constellations to effectively fulfill her main role.
• Significantly simplifies the exploration of Natlan, allowing you to quickly cover distances and climb cliffs. Facilitates the search for local curiosities, showing their location on the minimap.

However, Kachina cannot be called an ideal character, as she also has certain disadvantages:

• Without using the “Scroll of the Hero of the Burnt City”, she does not grab stars from the sky, becoming an ordinary 4-star character in all respects.
• To realize the full potential of the elemental skill, you need to be on the battlefield and activate the ult.
• The first will lead to time theft from the main DD, and the second will require an increase in energy recovery (in the absence of C1), which can complicate the balancing of stats.
• It does not combine well with Dendro characters, and in mono-Geo packs it will lose out to sub-DDs like Albedo or Tiori.
• The constellations as a whole turned out to be below average. With the exception of C2, there are no truly useful ones among them.
  Outside of Natlan, her usefulness in exploring new locations drops significantly, as she can ride the storm for less than 10 seconds.

When choosing a spear, priority should be given to those that increase defense, energy regeneration, critical hit chance, and critical damage. The table below shows the most interesting options.

Best Artifacts

We recommend taking artifacts that can increase the heroine's energy recovery and/or defense, as well as give buffs to allies. The table below shows the best options.

As for main characteristics of artifacts, then take the hourglass for defense (or energy recovery, if there is an acute shortage), the cup (bowl) – for the Geo damage bonus, and the crown (hat) – for crit. chance/crit. damage in a ratio of 1 to 2. The priority of choosing secondary parameters looks like this: critical damage, crit chance, energy recovery and defense.

If we talk about optimal indicators of the heroine's attributes, then they look like this:

• Defense: 1800 units and above
• Critical Hit Chance: 60% and above is ideal, but 45% will be enough
• Critical Damage: 120% and above is ideal, but 90% will be enough
• Energy Recovery: at least 140%, even if the team includes characters with Favonius and Geo “battery”, and without them – at least 180%

Best Teams for Kachina

If you plan to use Kachina only as a support with the “Scroll of the Hero of the Burnt City”, then in theory she can be used with almost any Cryo, Electro, Pyro or Anemo damage dealers, as she can effectively increase their elemental damage and deal more or less good Geo damage. At the same time, she will be best combined with the main DD from Natlan, as the squad will receive a lot of additional bonuses. For example, for now you can take her with Mualani.

At the same time, you can easily combine Kachina with Geo damage dealers, for example, she will give a considerable boost to Naviya, who is often combined with sub-DD and supports of other elements. You can also try to form an incomplete Geo pack, in which 3 heroes will belong to the Geo element, and the 4th – to another element to cause the Crystal reaction.

There is also the option to build a full mono-Geo pack, but in this case, instead of “Advisor” you should definitely take “Cocoon of Sweet Dreams” or “Golden Troupe” and try to maximize Kachina's personal damage. However, she will still lose to Tiori or Albedo as a sub-DD. The table below shows the optimal squad options.

How to Improve Skills

You will have to search for and collect a variety of materials, namely:

• Teachings, Directions, and Philosophies of Discord – obtained on Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays in the Fiery Ruins dungeon.
• Wooden Watchman's Whistle, Metal Warrior's Whistle, Golden Whistle of the Saurian-Crowned Warrior – drops from Saurian-like warriors of the tribe, can be bought with Star Glitter, or created using Alchemy.
• Fading Candle – drops from the weekly boss Servant.
• Crown of Insight – can be obtained during events, as well as by leveling up the Sacred Sakura, Permafrost Tree, Dream Tree, Lucine Fountain, and Tona's Fire.

If we talk about priority of leveling up talents, then the first thing you should do is increase the heroine's elemental skill, and then take on her elemental explosion. You don't need to level up her regular attacks.
