Lan Yan in Genshin Impact is an epic Anemo Catalyst and a master of rattan weaving. In a team, she can be both a shielder and a secondary, and sometimes even a primary damage dealer. The base parameters of crit chance and crit damage at all levels are 5% and 50% respectively.
Lan Yan's Abilities
When performing a normal attack “Black Pheasant on the Water Surface”, Lan Yan performs up to 4 strikes with Moon Feather Rings, dealing Anemo damage. The charged attack deals increased damage, and the falling attack deals area damage.
Explanation: Not a very useful skill that you will hardly use.
“Fluttering Dance of Swallow Feathers” skill creates a Shield of Fluttering Swallow; the density depends on the heroine's ATK. The shield absorbs Anemo damage with 250% efficiency.
After creating the Shield, the character rushes forward and, upon contact with the target, jumps back into the air. While in the air, you can press a normal attack or an elemental skill; then Lan Yan will release Rings, which after hitting, will spin twice between nearby enemies and deal Anemo damage.
By long pressing the skill, you can aim and choose the direction of the dash.
Explanation: Lan Yan's most important skill. In addition to creating a shield for 12.5 seconds, it allows you to deal good damage with Rings, the multiplier of which will be higher than any of the normal attacks.
This skill makes Lan Yan's gameplay both dynamic and safe. By jumping away from enemies, she is less likely to be hit by a counterattack and can attack from a distance, gaining freedom of movement.
Long press allows you to control the course of the battle and choose your target more accurately.
Elemental Burst “Radiant Moonrise”Summons a flock of Moon Swallows, pulling in enemies and items and dealing Ao damage.
Explanation: The Ultimate consumes 60 energy and creates a useful tie, allowing you to group up smaller enemies. Against bosses or elites, the ability is less effective, but can be used to further inflate elements.
Lan Yan also has several passive talents. The first of them, “Thoughts and intentions like a silky scent” allows you not to scare away butterflies and other animals when approaching them if the girl is in the squad.
The second passive is “Four sealing amulets of divination”. When the elemental skill dash hits the target and interacts with Hydro/Pyro/Cryo/Electro, the heroine's Shield changes the element and begins to absorb it with 250% efficiency.
After the Shield element changes, Lan Yan, releasing Moon Feather Rings, deals an additional 50% damage of the absorbed element.
Explanation: The most important passive. Provides additional protection not only from Anemo damage, but also from the element absorbed by the shield.
The second part of the passive also reveals Lan Yan as a damage dealer. Moon Feather Rings, dealing damage of the absorbed element, give more opportunities to create reactions.
It is worth noting that the additional damage from the Rings is considered E-level damage, so there is no need to invest in developing regular attacks to increase damage.
The third passive, “Evil-Protecting Feather Talisman”, increases E-level damage by 309% and ults by 774% of the heroine's MS.
Explanation: To reveal Lan Yan as a damage dealer, it is worth gaining as much MS as possible. It is good if the supports in the team wear corresponding buffing sets of artifacts or weapons.

How to play as Lan Yan
The girl's gameplay is focused on using her elemental skill, which both gives a shield and deals damage.
In any of the builds (shield or support damage dealer), the rotation will be approximately the same:
- Activate the skills of supports.
- Switch to Lan Yan, use E, apply a shield and absorb elements.
- Attack with normal attacks with additional damage from the absorbed element.
- Activate the ult, pulling mobs.
- Switch to the main DD and attack the enemies gathered in a bunch.
- If the damager's skills allow it, sometimes switch to Lan Yan during his stance, renewing the shield.
Advantages and disadvantages of Lan Yan
Lan Yan is a good support, capable of providing other companions with a shield, buffs and additional damage. Her advantages also include:
- A versatile and versatile character with a wide variety of builds, can be useful in many packs.
- Pulls enemies with her ult, which is especially useful in battles with groups of mobs.
- Easy to assemble: in the classic build, it is enough to focus on high ATK and MS indicators, the other parameters practically do not require attention.
- As an Anemo character, can wear the Emerald Shadow Set, which reduces enemy resistance.
- Makes exploring the world easier thanks to a long press of the elemental skill, allowing you to choose the direction of Lan Yan's dash and easily climb high places or cover long distances.
- Makes hunting for crystal butterflies easier thanks to its passive.
However, there are some downsides:
- Lan Yan's shield is not particularly durable, and it can only be restored if you have a second consta.
- There is a 3.5 second window between the shield duration and the cooldown, during which your characters will be left unprotected. Given the low durability of the shield, it can be destroyed earlier. The problem can only be solved by having C6.
- Depends on constellations. As we mentioned above, some of Lan's problems can only be fixed by knocking out certain consts. Despite the fact that the character is 4-star and can be obtained for free in the event, the path to C6 can take quite a long time and require a lot of luck.
- When building a damage dealer, stat balancing becomes much more difficult: you will have to monitor not only attack and MS, but also crits and energy recovery.
Best Build for Lan Yan
The Master will do well in a hybrid shield/support DD role, where she can both effectively protect the team and deal decent damage. Depending on the needs of the squad, you can focus on elemental mastery if you need damage to Lan Yan herself, or on attack power if the team needs a good shield.
Best Weapon
When choosing the perfect gun for the Master, you should look for a high base attack and passives that strengthen the entire squad.

As for the main stats of artifacts, it is worth taking a watch for ATK% or VE%, a cup for ATK% or Anemo damage and a crown for ATK%. In substats, look for ATK%, MS, crit. damage and crit. chance, energy recovery.
The optimal attribute indicators of the heroine are as follows:
- Attack power: 2000+
- Elemental mastery: 500+
- Energy regen: 120-130% with a second Anemo or a “battery” like Raiden, and if Lan Yan is wearing the Codex of Favonius or Ceremonial Memoirs. Otherwise, aim for 160%.
Crit chance is necessary if you gave Lan Yan the Codex of Favonius. In addition, it is worth collecting crits if your Lan Yan is a driver/main DD. In this case, you can neglect the attack power, which is mainly needed for the shield.
Best Teams for Lan Yan
Lan Yan fits perfectly into reaction packs with constant hero switching and dynamic gameplay. She will suit either damage dealers with a short stance, or those who can switch during the stance so that the girl can refresh the shield at any time. With C2, it is desirable for the damage dealer to actively use normal attacks, restoring the shield's durability.

How to level up Lan Yan
Leveling up skills
To develop Lan Yan's combat skills, you need the following materials:
- Teachings, directions, and philosophies about “Diligence” – can be obtained from the Taishanfu dungeon on Tuesdays, Fridays, and Sundays.
- Springbug Nectars – can be dropped from Springbug, purchased from Paimon's shop, and crafted using alchemy. We have described the habitats and farming routes for these creatures in a separate guide.
- Smoldering Sunflame – drops from the boss Lord of Smoldering Primal Flame. You can also use a Dream Solvent to convert other resources obtained from fighting this boss.
- Crown of Insight – awarded for completing certain events and upgrading such offering systems as the Sacred Sakura, the Tree of Permafrost, the Tree of Dreams, the Lucine Fountain, and Tona's Fire.
As for the priority of upgrading skills, the first thing you should upgrade is the skill on which most of the damage and strength of the heroine's shield depend. Elemental Explosion is also worth developing to increase area damage after tightening. Normal attacksit is not necessary to pump if you are building Lan Yan into a shieldman; can be developed if you collect sap-DD.

Wayouda Turquoise can be obtained by fighting the following bosses: Anemo Hypostasis, Storm Terror, Magu Kenki, Unut Seteha, Algorithm of the Semi-Eternal Observation Operator Matrix, Seki no Kami, Suanni the Hermit, Twilight Papilla.
