Completing the quest “Lessons of the Witches: An Unexpected Assignment” (Alan Smithee, author Fischl)
To start this quest and open Fischl's new talent pack, you need to get the Little Witch's Dictionary – a tool given for completing the mission “An Unexpected Assignment” (we talked about it in the general guide to Lessons and Gifts of Witches).
After receiving the book, open it through the Inventory and select Fischl from the portraits, and then click “Accept quest” – this will appear in the quest log.
Go to the Adventurers' Guild
The quest starts near Katerina's booth in Mondstadt. Approaching and talking to the secretary about a new assignment, the heroes will meet Fischl and Oz – they, having heard about the author of their favorite novel, ask to be partners.
Meet the editor in “The Good Hunter”
Climb a little higher, to Sarah's street eatery, and talk to Onodera, an employee of the Yae Publishing House. He will report that he has received an alarming letter from Mr. Ninth, the famous author of “Flowers for Princess Fischl” and “The Legend of the Broken Halberd.” Judging by the message, the writer is now in Nod's Land and needs help. However, there is no reliable information about its location, which makes it unclear where to start the search. This is precisely the Guild’s request – to help find the injured writer. Luckily, Traveler and Paimon already have ideas about his real identity.
Ask Chan Ninth in Qingze Village
We move to the Bishui Valley, which is in the north of Li Yue, and go up to the quest marker near the writer’s house – he lives on a hill in the eastern half of the Qingze village.
Not finding Mr. Chan in the courtyard, the heroes decide to look nearby for clues (inspect the front door and the low table to the left of the building's facade). Then Fischl's premonition points to a suspicious stump near the table – upon examining it, the company will find a bag of mora and a bank check. The owner of the house comes running in response to the noise, but we don’t get any significant information from him – only the fact that the creators use the same paper. This is enough for Oz to track down the author who is in trouble.
Defeat the monsters and follow the fairy
Mr. Nine's tracks lead the rescue team to Lempo Island in Nod's Land. Seeing a couple of Wild Hunt monsters in front of them, holding an anemo fairy, the heroes enter into battle (Fischl will be the 5th party member), and then follow the flying creature (run straight and left).
The fairy turns out to be a longtime companion of the witch Nicole, who comes into contact with us and reveals the truth about the author of “Flowers for Princess Fischl” – after an unexpected meeting, the mistress of Oza will receive her strengthening, and the main part of the quest will come to an end.
Talk to Chan the Ninth
Finally, we will be taken to the house of Chan Ninth, to whom we should give the due reward, receiving 50 thousand mora in return.
Buff “Witch's Eve Ritual: Nocturne of Illusions”
Fischl's new passive only works in a Sabbat squad, with an active resonance of the Secret Rite (i.e. with at least two faction heroes in the same group).
