Lost Children of the Forest in Genshin Impact is a Natlan quest, the first in the “Between Promise and Oblivion” chain. During it, travelers will get acquainted with the unique gameplay mechanics of the Pyro region and acquire a new companion for future travels.

How to start the quest “Lost Children of the Forest”
To start the quest, you need to reach adventure rank 28 and head to Natlan. To do this, you can use the teleportation point, which will be automatically available after the release of the Pyro region.
Once you're in the right location, head down the road to the three glowing pillars ahead.
Paimon will notice the pillars and suggest you come closer to investigate them. Once you get close to them, you will be automatically teleported to a mysterious place that is not displayed on the map.
Walkthrough of the quest “Lost Children of the Forest”
In the new location, Paimon will inform you that he sees rift hounds ahead. It turns out that they are fighting a Tepetlisaur, the Geo Dragon of Natlan. Get closer and join the battle, helping the dragon defeat several waves of rift hounds.
Talk to the Tepetlisaur
After the battle, it turns out that the zavrian has weakened significantly and has a request for the traveler – to free the little dragon. Using the “T” key, you can merge with the Geo dragon and control its movements.
Save the Baby Geo Zavrian
While in the body of an adult Saurian, approach the rocks and strike the rocks. To do this, it is enough to use the analogue of a normal attack. After the rocks are destroyed, a cutscene will begin, where the freed cub falls to the ground.
After this, Paimon will notice that the Saurian will hurt its tail when falling, and will offer to tie it with a scarf. During the further dialogue, he and the traveler will come to the conclusion that the Saurian cub is an orphan. The companions will decide to take the baby with them and give it a new name.
Choose a Name for the Baby Geo Saurian
You can choose the name yourself. It is worth familiarizing yourself with the requirements for the name: it should not violate the rules of the user agreement. The length of the name is also limited: 7 letters on the Russian layout and 14 in English. If you want to give the zavrian a long name, you can replace some Russian letters with similar English ones.
Also keep in mind that not every name is available for use. For example, the game does not allow the use of names of the harbingers of fatui, some archons and insults, as well as names written with spaces. If you try to name a dragon after a playable character, the game will warn you that using such a name may cause confusion, but will allow you to confirm the chosen name.
Follow a new companion
After confirming the name, travelers will decide to leave the mysterious place. The baby saurian will show the way, and you will only have to follow it. Once you find yourself at the light pillars, click the exit button.
After returning to the usual location, the light pillars will disappear, and Paimon will offer to go to the Sacred Flame Stadium to learn more about your new companion.
As a reward for completing the quest, you will receive 20 Primogems, Adventure EXP, Mora, and a “Confirmed Naming Convention”, with which you can change the name of the dragon.
How to Change the Name of the Hatchling Geo
You can change the name of the hatchling once. To do this, open the Jewelry section in your inventory and select “Confirmed Naming Convention”. When you use it, a window will pop up where you can choose a new name for the dragon.
