In Honkai: Star RailMemory Shards are a limited currency that can only be obtained by exploring Amphoreus. With it, you can purchase items in a special store and find out the location of the Nymphs of Creation from the Seamstresses. To get these strange crystals, you need to talk to certain characters, solve puzzles, and perform many other activities. We will tell you about all this in this article.
Where to find all the memory shards in XSR
Memory Shards are special crystals that contain various memories, so they can only be obtained by performing certain actions and only on the territory of Amphoreus. At the same time, there are both one-time and multiple-use methods for obtaining these items. Below we will list them all.
Interact with the strange crystal
The strange crystal is located in the chambers of the Nameless, in the southeastern corner of the 1st tier of the Marble Palace, in the holy city of Ochem. Access to this room appears during the mission “O guest from afar, hear the prayers of this world”, but you will see the crystal later, so for now it is better to complete the main plot of the planet and unlock the Path of Memory for the main character.
For the first viewing of the recording on the crystal, you will receive an achievement, as well as 10 Memory Shards. It is important to note that the memories recorded by the crystal are updated at the beginning of each week, and with them the rewards. That is, returning to the mechanism every 7 days, you will again receive 10 shards.
This is an ideal option for those who do not have time to thoroughly explore the planet of eternity, but at the same time they also want to buy things with them. We talked about this in more detail in a separate guide.
Restore the Spark of Georios
All the Georios Lights that are in the game at the time of version 3.0 are in Ochem, and there are 8 of them. Some need help to recover with the help of the Oronis prayer (i.e. the skill that rewinds time by the “space”) and absolutely all of them will require a unique gift from you. In a separate guide, we told you how to find the lights and what you need to give to each of them. Note that you will receive a memory shard as soon as you restore at least one light.
Interact with the Holy Flame
Holy Flame Fountains can only be found in Ochem, and there are 8 of them in total. You will have to both turn the devices on and off, and then observe the consequences of your decisions. Note that you can visit all the braziers in the order that is convenient for you. We have shown their locations in a separate guide. You will be given a Memory Shard the first time you interact with any of the braziers.
Destroy the Round Ornament in the Eternal Holy City of Ohema
There are 4 stone circular ornaments to be found in the specified location. Restore and destroy any of them to get 1 memory shard. If you find and destroy all the statues, you will unlock the “Destruction of Statue Rights” trophy.

Answer the riddle of the Lion of Truth
These statues can only be found in Ohema at the time of version 3.0. They look like grinning lion faces. Conversations with them will become available after completing the story quest “Oh silver chariot, rush to the dark lands.” There are 8 lions of truth in total – we have shown their locations in a separate guide. Solve the riddle of any of them for the first time, and you will receive 1 memory shard.
Listen to the melody of the water lyre
Travel to the Recreation Hall spatial anchor in Ohema City, then head southwest to a pool and a small performance area. You'll find a girl playing the organ here. Stand in front of her and select the “Listen to the Water Lyre” option, after which you'll immediately be given 1 Memory Shard.
Perform a ritual on the altar of fate
There are 4 Altars of Fate in Ochem where you need to install specific divine symbols. Once you select the correct rune on any of these bowls, you will immediately be given 1 Memory Shard. If you activate all the altars, you will unlock the achievement “Buzzing Secrets: Golden Adventure”.
Ride a Geozaur
These are the big purple dinosaurs that roam the Ohema area. You can call the Geosaurus by ringing the bell at a bus stop (the screenshots below show the location of one of these places), and then climb on top of the animal. On your first try, you'll be rewarded with 1 Memory Shard.

Drink the ambrosia
Travel to the Three Seasons Court anchor in Ochem, then head east a bit to find Bacchus here. Talk to him and choose the phrase “Let's get the party started!”, then the answer “I'll take a sip…” or “Bottoms up!” to trigger a special intoxicating event and receive 1 Memory Shard.
Complete Side Missions
There are many side quests you can complete in Amphoraeus, each of which will allow you to get 2 or even 5 Memory Crystals. The list below shows all such quests (as of patch 3.0):

Other missions, such as “Buzzing Secrets” and “Finding Yourself,” do not give any Memory Shards, but they do reward Star Jades, so we recommend that you do not skip them.
Talk to Certain Characters
Talking to some characters in Ochem and buying certain items from them can give you extra memory shards. First, go to the Marble Fair, then go a little west and talk to Demetria, the owner of the fruit stand. Then say that you want to try the fruits and choose any of them, spending a few credits. After that, you will be given 1 crystal.
At the same Marble Fair, find Kiros, the owner of the restaurant located opposite Demetria, and chat with him. Then ask about the local delicacy and pay 1000 credits for it. As a reward, you will receive 1 memory shard.
Next, move to the “Bowl of Abundance” anchor, turn around, go through the waterfall and go to the bathhouse administrator Ksenia– Enter into a dialogue with her. Then say that you want to buy something and take the Light Calendar membership by paying 10,000 credits. You will receive 1 memory shard as a reward.
Stop the Geosaurus with the Rhapsodist
Interrupt the Rhapsodist Lipsos, who is riding the Geosaurus. You can find Lips near the Marble Palace anchor. You will need to talk to him while he is riding the Geosaurus. Interrupt him to unlock the “Poetry on Horseback” achievement and receive a memory shard.

Talk to the Zlatius
We will add that in Ochem you can find the Zlatius you crossed paths with as part of the story quest chain. For talking to them, you will also receive 1 memory shard. For example, Midey is located on the roof of a building located at the Marble Fair. The exact location is shown in the pictures below.
Now move to the “Rest Hall” anchor, and then go southwest to the stone gazebo. Here you will find Kastoria – chat with her for a bit, asking a few questions. After the conversation is over, you will immediately receive the crystal.
Next, teleport to the “Heroes' Bowl” anchor and go a little to the right, climbing the stairs to the upper platform. Here you will find Aglaya. Chat with her on various topics to get a shard.
At the end, move to the Garden of Life anchor and go even further north. Near the table you will notice Tribby – talk to her, asking various questions to get a shard.
Repair a broken object
To the north of Damionis, in the reading room you can find a broken reading lamp, which you can repair with the Oronis prayer (hold the “Space” key). Once you do this, you will be given 1 memory shard. It is possible that the crystal is given for the first repair of any object in Ochem.
How to Use Memory Shards in Honkai: Star Rail
You can view the current number of Memory Shards you have in your inventory in the “Missions” section. You can spend them in two ways: with the Seamstresses and the special Janus Horse. Let's look at both options below.
Buying Information from the Seamstress
In different locations of Amphoreus, you can find nymphs of creation, which look like beetles or butterflies. They are not marked on the map in any way, which makes them difficult to find. However, you can always ask the Seamstress for help – this is Aglaya's mannequin, marked on the level with a butterfly icon.
Talk to the Seamstress and select the phrase “Where are the other nymphs?”, then hand over 1 shard to see on the map the location of 1 beetle or butterfly you haven't found – the nymph will be marked with a question mark. However, this is not the most efficient way to spend memory crystals, because in our separate guide we showed the location of all the Nymphs of Creation.
Buying Items from a Janus Horse
In Ochem, you can find a special Janus Horse, which is located in the Marble Palace in Ochem, northwest of the “Court of the Three Seasons”. This horse will be marked on your map with a shop icon, because after meeting the merchant hiding inside, you can spend Memory Shards here.
The Janus Horse in Ochem has two notable interactions:
- (Get Memory Shards) – this is a tab with goods, among which there are recipes, music records and “mysterious gifts”;
- “Are there other goods?” – this is a quest line, after which you must give 10 shards. There are no consequences for the choice yet, and the merchant will simply ask you to wait;
By purchasing “mysterious gifts” from the horse, you will receive:
- A large mysterious gift (for 15 shards) – a personal small chimera that will live in the Nameless room in the Marble Palace;
- A small mysterious gift (for 5 shards) – inflatable golden seals to decorate the bathhouse, also in the Nameless chambers. You need to open the chest next to the pool.
At the moment, these are all the memory shards that you can get in HSR, and all the ways to use them.
