Miyabi in ZZZ: Guide to the Best Build

In Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ), Hoshimi Miyabi is a 5-star character belonging to the Abnormal type and using the Frost attribute. In a team, she can play the role of the main damage dealer, dealing gigantic frost damage. In this guide, you will learn about her best build, amplifiers and drive disks, as well as recommended squads with her and Banbu.

Miyabi's Main Features

How to Get Miyabi

In the first phase of version 1.4, the Section 6 commander appeared in the banner, which increased the chance of her dropping. In the future, the swordswoman will only be obtainable via Signal Search. Unfortunately, HoYoverse only held one event in which the reward was a 5-star fighter (Harumasa), so you definitely won’t be able to get the fox for free.

Miyabi's abilities and their leveling priority

You can read about the heroine's abilities in the game itself, so we decided to add it under the spoiler so as not to increase the size of the article. We also recommend that you study our guide to the combat system to better understand it.

Basic attacks

Kazahana

To launch, press the basic attack button (LMB). Miyabi performs up to 5 chopping blows. The first 2 blows deal physical damage, the last 3 – frost. During the 5th blow of the basic attack, you can block enemy blows.

Shimotsuki

To launch, hold down the basic attack button (LMB) when Miyabi has at least 2 charges of Frost. Miyabi sheathes her blade, enters the Shimotsuki stance, and begins charging the attack. For each charge level, she uses 2 Frost points. The maximum charge level is 3. When Miyabi uses up all her Frost, or when you release the attack button, she draws her sword and powerfully slashes at enemies in front of her, dealing massive frost damage based on the number of charges. She then exits the Shimotsuki stance. While in the Shimotsuki stance, the character is invulnerable. Hoshimi Miyabi can have up to 6 Frost charges. When Hoshimi Miyabi enters battle, she gains 3 points of Frost.

Evasions

Evasion: Mizutori

Press the dodge button (RMB or L Shift) to quickly dodge while dashing. Press or hold repeatedly while dodging to dodge a long distance while dashing. The heroine is invulnerable while using the skill.

Enhanced Special Attack: Hisetsu

To activate, hold down the special attack button (E) when Miyabi has enough energy. Miyabi charges forward, powerfully slashing enemies in her path and dealing massive frost damage. When activating this skill, Miyabi gains 2 points of Frost. After using this skill, press again if Miyabi has enough energy. Miyabi will spend additional energy and perform a powerful additional attack on enemies in an area in front of her, dealing massive frost damage. When activating this skill, Miyabi gains 2 points of Frost. The heroine is invulnerable while using both skills.

Attack Chains

Attack Chain: Call of Spring

Tap this agent while an attack chain is active to activate. Miyabi powerfully slashes enemies in a large area in front of her, dealing massive frost damage. She is invulnerable while using the skill.

Super Ability: Last Snow

To activate, press the Ultimate (Q) button at maximum decibel level. Miyabi powerfully slashes enemies in a large area in front of her, and then after a short pause, performs a finishing blow and deals massive frost damage. When using the skill, 3 points of Frost are given, and for 12 seconds, Miyabi deals 30% more ice damage. The heroine is invulnerable while using the skill.

Inclinations

Main Passive Skill: Searing Cold

When Hoshimi Miyabi deals Frost damage to an enemy, she places Frozen Flame on the target for 30 seconds. When an enemy with Frozen Flame accumulates Frost Anomaly, the Frost Anomaly accumulation efficiency is increased by 100% of Hoshimi Miyabi's Critical Hit Chance (maximum increase is 80%). When Hoshimi Miyabi accumulates Frost Anomaly on an enemy, a separate attribute anomaly scale is used and effects such as Freeze, Shatter, and Frostbite can be applied. These effects cause Chaos when combined with other attribute anomaly effects (including Ice).

Additionally, when Hoshimi Miyabi casts Frostbite on enemies with the Frost Flame effect, she consumes the Frost Flame to cast Frost Burn – Breakthrough, dealing Frost Damage equal to 750-1500% of Miyabi's AD. The target enters the Frost Burn state. The target in the Frost Burn state accumulates Attribute Anomaly from all party members' attacks 14-20% faster, but Hoshimi Miyabi cannot cast Frost Flame on them again. The Frost Burn state lasts until the current Frostbite effect ends. If the enemy in this state is re-cast with an Attribute Anomaly effect, Frostbite will reset and Frost Burn will dissipate. When casting Frost Burn – Breakthrough, Hoshimi Miyabi gains 1 point of Frost. Cannot be triggered more than once every 10 seconds.

Additional Ability: Frost and Blizzard

Activated if the party has a character of the Support specialty or from the same faction. Basic attack “Shimotsuki” deals 60% more damage. When any party member causes Chaos to an enemy, Hoshimi Miyabi gains 2 points of Frost, and her next basic attack “Shimotsuki” from the “Shimotsuki” stance ignores 30% of the target's ice damage resistance.

As for leveling up the heroine's talents, then the priority should be the inclinations and basic attacks, as they allow you to increase the damage from “Ice Burn” and “Shimotsuki”, which are the main source of Miyabi's damage. Next in importance are the chains of attacks, as the fox's super ability can cause tons of damage. In parallel with them, you should pump up special attacks, which also cause a lot of damage and give points of Frost.

Miyabi in ZZZ: A Guide to the Best Build

Once you've maxed out those abilities, you can move on to pumping up assists and evasions, which aren't very important in her rotation, but can still boost her overall damage a bit.

Miyabi's Mental Picture

To open it, you need to accumulate Agent Profiles, which are given out when duplicates of the heroine fall out, which, of course, is random. Considering the small chance of getting 5-star characters, you will need to spend a lot of time and money to unlock all the mental ones. However, even without them, Miyabi can easily perform the function of the main damage dealer.

Miyabi in ZZZ: guide to the best build

The table below lists all the mental abilities, their descriptions and benefits for the heroine.

NameBonusUsefulness
Ice Rage While Hoshimi Miyabi is in Shimotsuki stance, for every 1 point of Rime spent, her basic attack Shimotsuki ignores 6% of the target's defense. Stacks up to 6 levels. The effect lasts until exiting Shimotsuki stance. When a slash from a basic attack Shimotsuki with 3 levels of charge hits an enemy in the Frost Burn state, the target's Frost Burn is dispelled, and the entire squad's anomaly accumulation efficiency is increased by 20% for 10 seconds.Further enhances “Shimotsuki”, which is one of the heroine's main sources of damage, and allows allies to cast anomaly attribute on enemies faster, which speeds up the summoning of Chaos. Brings high benefits.
Breathing TechniqueKazahan's basic attack and counterattack after dodging deal 30% more damage. When the last 5th hit of Kazahan's basic attack hits an enemy, Hoshimi Miyabi gains 1 point of Frost. At the start of the battle, Hoshimi Miyabi immediately gains 6 points of Frost, and her critical hit chance increases by 15%.The heroine can use Shimotsuki at the start of the battle and accumulate Frost charges even with her basic attacks, which greatly simplifies her rotation. This mental skill brings very high benefit.
Combat TrainingBasic Attack, Evasion, Assist, Special Attack, Chain Attack +2.Has average benefit.
Cold BreakFrostburn – Breakthrough deals 30% more damage. When triggering Frostburn – Breakthrough, Hoshimi Miyabi gains an additional 250 decibels.Enhances Frostburn and allows you to use your Ultimate more often. Provides medium-high utility.
AnniversaryBase Attack, Evasion, Assist, Special Attack, Chain Attack Rating +2.Provides medium utility.
Exceptional TalentWhile in Shimotsuki Stance, Hoshimi Miyabi gains Polar Power, increasing the damage of her basic Shimotsuki attack by 30%. After gaining Polar Power, when Hoshimi Miyabi's Frost Points are consumed, she will automatically draw her blade from its sheath and perform a powerful slash based on the charge level. Until all Frost Points are consumed, a draw attack will not interrupt the charging process of Shimotsuki Stance. A maximum of 3 draw attacks can be performed during one Shimotsuki Stance.Significantly enhances “Shimotsuki”, giving the heroine a new type of blows that deal gigantic damage to enemies. This mentality brings very high benefits, but you will have to spend a lot of resources and time to open it.

If you still decide to try your luck, you can stop at M1 and M2, thanks to which you can significantly strengthen the “Shimotsuki”, increase the damage from basic attacks and simplify the accumulation of Frost points. If you have a choice between a starting mental weapon and a signature weapon, then we advise you to take the second option, since there are simply no good alternatives to the signature now.

How to play as Miyabi

First, we should tell you what the Frost attribute is. In many ways, it is similar to Ice, as all relevant buffs also apply to it, including bonuses from drive disks and allies. In addition, her teammates also consider her an ice character, which is why she can activate the corresponding additional abilities of her teammates. In addition, ice vulnerability in enemies automatically means that they are weak to frost damage as well.

Miyabi in ZZZ: guide to the best build

However, there are also striking differences. For example, when attacking enemies, it is the frost attribute anomaly that accumulates, although its effects are the same as those of the ice attribute (Frostbite, Cleaving, and Freezing), meaning that you can easily cause Chaos by first applying a frost anomaly, and then an ice anomaly (or any other). Thus, you can collect a mono-ice pack and still trigger Chaos.

Let's add that the effects of the frost anomaly have a couple of features:

  • Frost Frostbite, which increases critical damage by 10%, lasts 20 seconds instead of 10 seconds for the ice one.
  • Frost Chaos is calculated using a different formula. We will not give it here, but we will only note that it deals much more damage than Ice, which is currently considered one of the weakest in the game.

Now we can move directly to the heroine's abilities. First of all, let's look at her “Ice Flame”, around which our future rotation will be built. You will impose this effect (looks like a blue flame) on enemies when you deal frost damage to them. It will remain on them for 30 seconds, and when it is present, the efficiency of the accumulation of frost anomaly will be increased by 100% of Miyabi's critical hit chance.

Miyabi in ZZZ: a guide to the best build

This status is automatically removed when Frostbite is called, that is, a frost anomaly is imposed, and deals damage in the amount of 750-1500% of the attack power (it can also crit). The enemy is then subjected to the “Ice Burn” debuff., increasing the accumulation of anomaly from allies by 10-20%. At the same time, while the burn is active, you will not be able to apply flame to the enemy again. The effect of the burn is equal to the duration of Frostbite and ends with it.

Given this information, you can already make a preliminary rotation for Miyabi: you summon a frost anomaly with her to cast “Ice Burn”, and then switch to another character and cast another anomaly to summon Chaos (the faster you do this, the more damage you will deal). In this context, it makes no sense to stay on Miyabi, since she will not be able to cast “Ice Flame” again and deal additional damage.

Note: Let us remind you that the “burn” also wears off on its own without the Chaos trigger, but in this case you will have to wait 20 seconds.

However, this does not mean that Miyabi is useless without her team – she can deal significant damage alone thanks to her special “Shimotsuki” move. So, you probably noticed the blue lights under the heroine's portrait – these are “Rimo” points. You can get them as follows:

  • 1 charge is given for calling “Ice Burn” (given no more than once every 10 seconds).
  • 2 charges are given for calling Chaos thanks to the additional ability.
  • 2 charges are given for an enhanced special attack.
  • 3 charges for using the super ability.
  • 3 charges upon entering combat.

Miyabi in ZZZ: guide to the best build

You can accumulate a maximum of 6 points of “Rim”. With at least 2 points, you can use “Shimotsuki” by holding down the basic attack button (LMB) and performing a powerful sword strike that hits the area and deals about 3900% damage at level 10 and with 6 charges. At the same time, do not forget about crits, the bonus from the additional ability (+60% to damage) and the reduction in resistance to ice damage due to Chaos. In general, with one such attack you can easily wipe out all the ordinary mobs in the area (even with 2 or 4 points).

Given this information, you can build an optimal rotation for Miyabi, which will allow you to inflict gigantic damage to enemies at once. It looks like this:

  1. Switch to Miyabi and start attacking the enemy with special and basic attacks to apply “Ice Flame” and speed up the accumulation of Frost Anomaly. By calling it, you will deal additional damage and cast “Ice Burn” on the enemy, receiving 1 charge of “Rim”.
  2. Switch to any other character (preferably also “Anomaly”, but “Intimidation” will do) to accumulate anomaly of another attribute (remember that it will accumulate faster) and call Chaos (+2 more charges).
  3. If this is your first rotation, you should already have 6 charges, so you can use Shimotsuki right away. Otherwise, we recommend using the enhanced special attack twice to get 4 more charges first.
  4. With 4-6 Rime, hold the basic attack button and perform Shimotsuki to deal massive damage to all nearby enemies. Then just repeat the process.

You can also highlight a special mini-rotation that is built around Miyabi's superpower. Let's remember that it gives 3 charges of Frost at once, and also quickly accumulates anomaly and gives a 30% bonus to ice damage. Therefore, if you have an ult ready, then act as follows:

  1. Call an anomaly on the enemy with another character.
  2. Switch to Miyabi and immediately perform an ult (+3 charges), causing Chaos (+2 charges) and applying Frost Burn (+1 charge).
  3. With a full Rime gauge, immediately cast Smiotsuki, dealing massive damage to the enemy.

This information will be enough for you to inflict gigantic damage on enemies with Miyabi. There are a few more small nuances, such as the fact that quick help, counterattack after dodging, enhanced special attack, ult and “Shimotsuki” allow you to immediately move on to the 3rd or 4th basic attack, but you can not bother about this, since the heroine's normal attacks are already very fast.

Advantages and disadvantages of Miyabi

With the help of her unique abilities, the Section 6 operative can inflict significant frost damage, both to single targets and large clusters of enemies. Her advantages should also include:

  • Has incredibly huge damage multipliers, instantly making her one of the strongest damage dealers in the game. She basically sets a new bar for how strong a main DD can be in the game.
  • Having huge AoE (area of effect) damage on many of her attacks, allowing her to quickly deal with large groups of enemies.
  • A decent amount of team options, both budget and paid, making it easy to customize squads.
  • Has a relatively easy-to-learn gameplay that requires learning a small number of attack combinations, so it is suitable for beginners.
  • Can perform a unique dash when double-clicking the dodge button, which increases her mobility.

Miyabi in ZZZ: guide to the best build

However, it is still impossible to call Miyabi an ideal character, since she also has her drawbacks:

  • She is one of the first Anomaly characters that relies on crits, so the set of amplifiers that suit her is extremely limited. She will need the signature “Blizzard Temple” in any case.
  • She relies heavily on the accumulation of Frost Anomaly in her combo, and if she cannot apply Frostbite, her entire damage output may drop significantly.
  • It is highly advisable to increase her critical hit chance to 80% to increase the efficiency of anomaly accumulation, which can be quite difficult. You will have to spend a lot of resources to knock out optimal drive disks.
  • Rotations and playstyle can vary greatly depending on the team composition you choose, requiring a lot of experience in controlling different characters.

Best Build for Miyabi

Best Amplifiers

We recommend choosing weapons that can increase the heroine's critical hit chance, critical damage, attack power, penetration chance, and/or ice damage. The table below presents the most interesting options.

NameStatsAbility and Utility

Miyabi in ZZZ: Guide to the Best Build

Blizzard Temple

Base Attack: 50-743

Critical Hit Rate: 9.6-24%

Increases critical damage by 50-80%. When the owner performs an enhanced special attack or when any team member casts an attribute anomaly on the enemy, the wearer deals 20-32% more ice damage. The effect stacks up to 2 levels and lasts for 15 seconds. The duration of each level is calculated separately.

Miyabi's signature move, which makes it much easier to reach 80% crit chance and makes it easier to balance crits overall. Plus, it allows you to deal more damage with all attacks. If you have to choose between a signature weapon and the M1, then definitely take the first option, since at the time of patch 1.4 this amplifier simply has no alternatives.

Miyabi in ZZZ: a guide to the best build

Built-in compiler

Base attack: 46-684

Penetration chance: 9.6-24%

Attack power increases by 12-24%. When launching a special attack or enhanced special attack, the agent's anomaly knowledge with this item increases by 25-50 units. The effect stacks up to 3 times, lasts 8 sec. The duration of each level is calculated separately.

Miyabi's chance to penetrate is not as important as crits, but it will still be useful, as well as increasing attack power. Otherwise, the benefits of this amplifier will be noticeably lower than the signature one, so it will be inferior to it by about 22-23%.

Miyabi in ZZZ: Guide to the Best Build

Electric Lip Gloss

Base Attack: 40-594

Anomaly Knowledge: 30-75

If there are enemies with an attribute anomaly on the battlefield, the attack power of the agent with this item increases by 10-16%, and the target's agent damage increases by 15-25%.

Even at rank 5 of the upgrade and with all the bonuses in effect, it lags behind the signature by about 24-25%. In addition, you can only get it from a paid BP, so it is better to spend extra funds on knocking out the Temple of the Blizzard.

Miyabi in ZZZ: a guide to the best build

Roaring Car

Base attack: 40-594

Attack power: 10-25%

When an enhanced special attack hits an enemy, one random effect out of three is triggered for 5 sec. Triggers once every 0.3 sec., identical effects do not stack, repeated triggers reset the duration. Different effects can exist simultaneously. Possible effects: – the attack power of the agent with this item increases by 8-12.8%; – the knowledge of the anomaly of the agent with this item increases by 40-64 units; – the efficiency of accumulation of the attribute anomaly increases by 25-40%.

Miyabi should regularly use her enhanced special attacks, as they provide Rime charges, so she won't have any problems activating the passive. However, out of all three effects, the only one she will need is the attack power increase. At rank 5 of the upgrade, it lags behind the signature by 28-29%.

Miyabi in ZZZ: a guide to the best build

Tropical Gourmet

Base attack: 40-594

Anomaly Knowledge: 30-75

For every 10 energy spent, an agent with this item gains an attack boost of 2.5-4% for 10 seconds. The effect stacks up to 10 times, the duration of each level is calculated separately.

Miyabi's anomaly knowledge is of little use, and she does not spend much energy, but the attack power boost is still useful. At rank 5 of the upgrade, it lags behind the signature by 29-30%.

Miyabi in ZZZ: Guide to the Best Build

Crying Twins

Base Attack: 40-594

Attack Power: 10-25%

When a squad member casts an attribute anomaly on an enemy, the agent with this item gains 1 additional level of the effect, which increases their anomaly knowledge by 30-48 points. This effect can be stacked up to 4 times and disappears if the target comes out of the stun state or is destroyed. The duration of each effect is calculated separately.

Can be purchased from the toy store, which makes it easy to get. Its only advantage is a good increase in attack power. Again, Miyabi's anomaly knowledge is not very necessary, so the passive will be almost useless to her. At the 5th rank of improvement, it lags behind the signature by 31-32%.

Best Drive Discs

The table below shows the best artifact options for this heroine.

NameBonusesAdvantages

Miyabi in ZZZ: a guide to the best build

Song of the Branch and the Blade

2 parts: Increases critical damage by 16%.

4 parts: Increases the owner's critical damage by another 30% if their anomaly control is at least 115 units. When any team member casts Freeze or Cleave on an enemy, the owner's critical hit chance increases by 12% for 15 seconds.

The best option for Miyabi, which significantly increases her critical damage, allowing her to fully focus on the critical chance. By the way, the bonus to the latter will last almost most of the time. We advise you to combine it with Polar Heavy Metal(2 parts; priority) or Dyatlokor-Electro (2 parts; if you can't reach 80% crit chance).

Miyabi in ZZZ: guide to the best build

Dyatlokor-Electro

2 parts: Increases critical hit chance by 8%.

4 parts: Each time a basic attack, counterattack after an evasion, or an enhanced special attack deals critical damage, the wearer gains 1 level of the buff. For each stack, the wearer's attack power is increased by 9% for 6 seconds. The duration of the buff varies for different skills.

A good universal alternative to the previous option due to the increased critical chance and attack power. However, you are unlikely to be able to constantly maintain several levels of the buff on the heroine. We recommend combining it with Polar Heavy Metal (2 parts; priority) or Song of the Branch and the Blade (2 parts).

Miyabi in ZZZ: guide to the best build

Polar Heavy Metal

2 parts: Increases ice damage by 10%.

4 pieces: Basic and dash attacks deal 20% more damage. When any team member casts Freeze or Shatter on an enemy, the effect is increased by 20% for 12 seconds.

A bit inferior to the previous option, but still a good set that increases ice damage and basic attacks, including Shimotsuki. However, it does not increase crits in any way, which can make it difficult to balance them. We recommend combining it with Electro Woodpecker (2 pieces).

As for the main characteristics of drive discs, your choice should look like this:

  • IV sector: critical hit chance.
  • V sector: ice damage bonus (priority) or attack power%.
  • VI sector: attack power%.
  • Substats: critical chance (until you get 80%) > critical damage > attack power% > penetration chance.

If we talk about recommended values of Miyabi's parameters, they should look something like this:

  • Attack: 2500-3600+ units.
  • Health: 10000+.
  • Defense: 800+.
  • Anomaly Knowledge: 240+ units
  • Anomaly Control: 116+ units
  • Critical Hit Chance: 75-95%
  • Critical Damage: 150-190%

As for support characters, Miyabi will find many heroes useful: Sokaku (to increase ice damage), Rina (to increase the chance of penetration), Caesar (to increase attack power and issue a shield), Seth (to increase knowledge of the anomaly) and Nicole (to cut defense).
