In Honkai: Star Rail, the Mysterious Hypogeum is the main event of patch 3.0, during which you will have to solve various puzzles related to the Prophecy Plates, the Golden Scapegoat, the Hand of Zagreus, and the Oronis miracle. By completing these challenges, you will receive valuable rewards, including star jades and mora.
At the end, you will be able to pick up one 4-star character absolutely free. In this guide, we will tell you how to start this event and solve all its mysteries.
How to start the Mysterious Hypogeum event in XSR
The event starts on January 22, 2025 at 07:00 Moscow time and ends on February 23 at 22:59 pm. After it ends, it will be transferred to the “Immortal Memoirs” category, allowing new Pathfinders to read it at any time and receive the standard reward. However, before that, you will need to fulfill a couple of conditions:
- Reach at least Mastery level 36 (or 21 if using the Vision of Completion option).
- Complete the Mastery mission called “O Hero, Accept the Core of Flame” from the “Tales of the Flame-Chasing Heroes” storyline.
After you have dealt with the specified conditions, you should automatically receive the starting mission of the event. If this does not happen, then go to the Travel Journal, find the desired event and click on the “Take Part” button.
Next, you should receive a message from Damionis on your phone. Then move to the Marble Palace anchor in the Eternal Holy City of Ochem and approach your old friend, who will be located a little to the south, or teleport to him right away. Talk to him and agree to help him.

If you manage to solve all the puzzles listed above before February 23, 2025, you can get 800 Star Jades, Echoes of the Past, Self-Modeling Resin, and various leveling materials.
In addition, you will be given a choice of one of the 4-star characters:
- Guinaifen (Non-Existence: Fire)
- Hanya (Harmony: Physical)
- Tingyun (Harmony: Electric)
- Hook (Destruction: Fire)
Tingyun can be an optimal choice, as she is one of the best supports in the game, despite the fact that she is an epic character. This heroine can increase attack power and fill energy. If you already have her and she has all the Constellations open, but you need another good support, then take Hanyu. Those planning to create a team for debuffs should take Guinaifen.
