In Genshin Impact, Obsidian Fragments and Obsidian Rings are special collectibles that come in yellow, green, and azure colors. They can be found in Natlan, and finding and using them can earn valuable rewards, including the achievement “Nighttime Offerings: The Burning Plain I”. In this guide, we will tell you how to get these unique artifacts, and what exactly they are for.
How to Get All Obsidian Fragments in Natlan
Let's note right away that you can find 3 obsidian fragments of each color: green, yellow and azure. At the same time, they fall out of precious and luxurious chests of Natlan, and randomly, so if you're lucky, you can get them very quickly, and if not, you'll have to crawl around the entire Pyro region.
Let's add that we are talking not only about those chests that are located in the open world (often associated with puzzles) and are given out when completing quests, but also about chests given out for completing Spiritual Path Trials.
Where to find yellow obsidian fragments
They are most likely to be found in the Tequemecan Valley area, as they are associated with the Children of Echoes tribe. This area only covers the Tepeacaque Climb and the Sulfur Veins. The map below shows all the treasure chests and luxury chests in the corresponding area, as well as the Spiritual Path challenges.
Below we will show you the places where we managed to get the specified items. It is possible that the probability of dropping them is still higher than in other places. We found the first one in a precious chest on a wooden platform, east of the entrance to the Sulfur Veins.
We managed to find the second one in a precious chest, located in the Sulfur Veins themselves. It will be protected by a group of Saurian-like warriors. Deal with them and open the chest. We found the third one in a luxurious chest on top of a cliff in the same location.
Where to find green obsidian fragments
They have a higher chance of being found in Mount Coatepec and the Basin of Countless Flames, as they are associated with the Kron Scions. This zone includes the Phlogiston Mining Research Facility, Ancestral Temple, Tetikpak Peak, Huitztli Hill, and the Stadium of the Sacred Flame. The map below shows all the Precious and Luxurious Chests in the corresponding area, as well as the Spiritual Path Challenges.
Again, we will show you the places where we managed to find fragments. We found the first one inside a cave, having previously solved the puzzle with three manitou and graffiti. More details about this are here.
We received the second one for completing the Spiritual Path test at Lirio, the location of which is shown in the pictures below.
We found the last one in a precious chest on a stone ledge located near the teleporter in Tetikpak Peak.
Where to Find Azure Obsidian Fragments
They are most likely to be found in the Toyek Streams area, as they are associated with the Folk of the Springs tribe. This area covers the Waters of Ameyalco, the Secret Island of the Fire Thief, and the Folk of the Springs settlement. The map below shows all the treasure chests and luxury chests in the corresponding area, as well as the spiritual path trials.
Again, we will show you the places where we managed to find fragments. We found the first one in a precious chest, which was located on a wooden platform near the cliff. It was guarded by saurian-like warriors.
We found the remaining two in luxurious chests in the Overlands, which you can get to while completing the quest “The Seeker Does Not Find”. The screenshots below show the locations of the corresponding chests.
How to Get and Use Obsidian Rings in Genshin Impact
So, if you found 3 Obsidian Fragmentsa certain color, you can now create the corresponding obsidian ring. To do this, open your inventory, go to the “Jewelry” section and find the corresponding items. Then simply click on the “Alchemy” button to combine the parts and assemble a single key.
With their help, you will be able to open special barriers that lead to the tribes' hiding places. In each settlement, you can find such a place. Below we will show their location.
The Secret Place of the Folk of the Springs
Teleport to the waypoint near the village, and then run south to the wooden building ahead. After passing the trees and finding yourself on the beach, turn the camera to the left and you will find an entrance to a cave here, closed by a white barrier.
Interact with the shield and give the Ring with Azure Obsidian. Inside the cave you will find parts of two sets of artifacts: «Obsidian Tome»and “Scroll of the Hero of the Burnt City”, and of 5-star rarity. In the center, you can find the Consecrated Elixir.
Secret Place of the Descendants of Kron
Move to the teleport near the settlement of the said tribe, then turn around and start going down the wooden platforms to the southwest. At the same time, look down and to the left until you see a crevice in which another barrier is visible.
Interact with the shield and give the Ring with Green Obsidian. Inside the cave, you will find parts of two sets of artifacts: “Obsidian Tome” and “Scroll of the Hero of the Burnt City”, both of 5-star rarity. In the center, you can find the Consecrated Elixir.
The Secret Place of the Children of Echo
Move to the teleport near the settlement of the specified tribe, then turn around and start going down the slope to the south. At the same time, look down and to the right until you see a crevice in which another barrier is visible.
Interact with the shield and give the Yellow Obsidian Ring. Inside the cave, you will find parts of two artifact sets: “Obsidian Tome” and “Scroll of the Hero of the Burnt City”, both of 5-star rarity. In the center, you can find the Blessed Elixir.
