«Opus Magnum» in Kingdom Come Deliverance 2— a task that completes the quest chain of the miller Kreisel. Now you have to find a book for the miller in Trosky Castle, and before that, attend a wedding in Semin.
How to get to the wedding with the help of the miller, find the necessary book and get an alternative ending to the task, you can find out from our guide.
Walkthrough of the side quest Opus Magnum
Quest «Opus Magnum»will appear in your journal after you find the saltpeter pit as part of the Forbidden Fruit quest. Talk to Kreisel in the Mill location in Nizhny Semin and accept his offer to help you get to the wedding. Along with this, the miller will give you the task of finding an alchemical book from Trosky Castle. To get to the master's quarters, you will have to find a companion for the chamberlain.
Find a Companion in the Jelly Baths
First of all, visit the Jelly Baths and find a suitable companion for your plan.
Use fast travel and talk to Dorota, the bathhouse mistress. During the day, you can find her sitting on a bench at the entrance to the bathhouse. Tell her about the miller's offer. It doesn't matter which answers you choose – the outcome of the dialogue will be the same.
All the girls will be horrified by the offer to “accompany” the chamberlain and will flatly refuse to go to the wedding with you. Dorota will advise you to look into the gypsy camp, located northwest of Semin and find Anneline, who previously asked to work in the baths.
Find Anneline in the camp
Once you reach the camp, look for Anneline, a girl with blond hair in a yellow dress. If your search takes a long time, ask the locals about where she might be at the moment.
To get additional reputation, choose the following answers: “Your fame runs before you” > “Enough for two cows” > “You will be fed well” > “You can look at the horses there” > “Mr. Bergov will be there” > “You need to… meet him” > “Sorry” > “About the book in Troska” > “I asked about the chamberlain in the bathhouse” > “So we have an agreement?” > “I will get you some wine”.
Get perfume for your companion “Minta”
The next item on the list of preparations will be finding perfume for Anneline. You can get Minta perfume in Troskovitz in several ways.
Buy perfume from Beta the Innkeeper
Upon arrival in the city, talk to the owner of the tavern, who has only two last bottles left. Not wanting to part with the perfume so easily, Beta will offer you to buy the bottle for 499 groschen. This will be the easiest way to buy “Minta”, if you have that kind of money.
Steal Perfume from Innkeeper Beta
If you don't have that kind of money, you can try to steal perfume from Beta by sneaking into the tavern on the second floor at night. Don't forget to save your game before you try to steal a bottle of “Mint”.
This method will only work if you didn't start a conversation with Beta about spirits. Otherwise, after discovering the loss, the innkeeper will report you to the guards.
Brew it yourself
The third method will cost less than buying perfume. Run to Apothecary Emmerich, whose house is located in the western part of the town, and buy from him the recipe for the perfume “Minta”. The price will vary depending on Indro's reputation. We bought this recipe for 214 groschen.
You won't have to buy ingredients for “Mint”, as everything you need to make the perfume can be found in the garden in the yard of the apothecary.
In total, you need to collect 2 parts dandelion, 1 part calendula and 1 part mint.
There, opposite the drugstore, you will also find alchemy table. Open the bag, learn the recipe and use the alchemy supplies.
It doesn't matter what quality the finished perfume is – in any case, they will be suitable for completing the quest.
Find a Dress for a Companion
Kreisel advised finding a red brocade dress, which can be found at Bartoshek the Tailor in Troskovitz. Tyrolean Brocade Cotardie will be lying on the counter right behind the merchant.
You can also get the desired item in several ways.
Steal the dress
Make sure your clothes allow you to sneak behind the counter. The best option would be the same thief's clothes of the miller from the previous quest.
Distract the merchant by throwing a stone (key G) in stealth mode and steal the dress unnoticed. Before doing this, we recommend that you save the game.
You can also break into the shop at night, but the disadvantage of this method is that the shop door will be locked with a very complex lock. This method will fail if Henry has a low skill in picking locks.
Buy a dress
You can buy clothes for your companion for about 292 groschen. The price will also depend on the reputation you have acquired earlier. Open the trade menu and select Tyrolean Brocade Cotardie.
Get Wine for Anneline
Before returning with everything you need to Anneline, you will have to complete her additional task. You can buy wine here, in Troskovitz, from the German merchant or from Beta in the tavern.
Absolutely any wine will do for you
, even the cheapest one.Now that you have everything you need to get to the wedding, use fast travel and return to the gypsy camp.
Annelina will advise Henry to take care of the clothes he will wear to the wedding. How to choose the right clothes, as well as complete the main quest “Uninvited guests at the wedding”, we told you in a separate guide.
Now, to continue the quest “Opus Magnum”, you will have to celebrate the wedding and complete the next main quest “For Whom the Bell Tolls”. Only after completing it will you gain access to almost all the necessary locations of Troska Castle.
Get hints about the book from the scribe
To get the necessary book, find the scribe Erazim and ask him about it. His location also varies depending on the time of day. Most often, Erazim can be found in the western wing of the castle in his office or in the eastern part of the fortress.
If you try to talk to him about the book before completing the story quest, he will tell you that he will talk to you only after the execution of Mr. Ptachek.
Erazim will tell you that this book was taken by Mr. Nikvard Libak. Find out from him about those who could have seen the master for the last time, otherwise the markers on the map will not be displayed. Now you have to question three people in search of clues: the cook Perkhta, the maid Regina and the farmhand Gersh.
Ask the cook what she knows about Nikvard
Perchta can usually be found in the kitchen in the western part of the castle. To get any information from her, you can either bribe the cook (200 groschen), or pass a charm test.
Before you start talking to Perchta, put on the clothes you wore at the wedding to raise Henry's charm to the maximum. You can take all your things from the chest by following the chamberlain after saving Ptachek.
Choose the following dialogue options: “Listen to me carefully” > “I myself am the master's confidant”. If you successfully pass the charm check, Perchta will tell you how she helped Nikvard survive the accident in the outhouse. However, this information will not be enough to find out where Nikvard is now with the desired book.
Find out what the maid knows about Sir Nikvard
The maid Regina can be found in the eastern part of the castle, in the chambers of Mr. Bergov. Inspect each room in the Maiden Tower until you find the maid in yellow clothes. To get Regina to share information about the missing lord, read her a love letterfrom Nicvard. However, the letter will not shed light on the whereabouts of Mr. Libak, but you will learn why he needed the alchemical book.
Find out what the stable boy knows about Nikvard
Another person who has had dealings with Nikvard recently is the farmhand Gersh. You can find him outside the castle walls, next to a large paddock. You can recognize the groom by his white clothes and white hat. He will ask you to bring him a sword in exchange for information.
You don't have to give Gersh a real weapon, and he'll be happy even with a wooden training sword. You can find it in the western part of Trosky Castle, on a weapons rack.
In turn, Gersh will tell you that in the last conversation, Mr. Nikvard gave him the task of finding something important outside the castle.
Return to the scribe
Talk to the scribe Erazim and tell him everything you have learned. The correct answer will be“The book fell into the outhouse.”.
Sir Nikvard took the book with him to the latrine and accidentally dropped it down. Now the supposed location of Sir Libak and the book will be marked on the map behind the western wall of the castle.
Exit the fortress through the main entrance and go around it along the wall in the direction of the quest marker. There you will find Nikvard's corpse.
Turn the corner from the poor guy's body and pick up the book I was looking for“The Secret of Dennitsa”.
Take the book to the miller
Travel to the mill in Lower Semin and give the alchemical book to Kreisel. Now the miller will be ready to let you in on his mysterious affairs, meeting with his accomplices in the Lair.
Return to the place where you first met Bonka, to the southeast of the mill, where everyone else will already be waiting for you. There you can find out why you actually completed all of Kreisel's tasks.
To get some reputation, choose the following dialogues: “You will give me a new assignment” >“Keep silent” > “Weapon”> “You had a good mother” > “Are you out?” > “Alchemy?” > “Have you become a miller?” > “Let's get to work.”
After a short cutscene, the quest will be considered completed.
Alternative ending to the Opus Magnum quest
There is also an alternative way to complete this quest. You can go against Kreisel and his accomplices if you tell about himbailiff Drozd, who can be spoken to in the town hall in Troskovitsa, next to the local Scribe.
To hand over the miller, choose the following dialogue option: “I wish to report what the miller Kreisel has done”. In any case, Drozd will ask you to follow him and complete the task to the end. Find the book and give it to the miller.
However, now, before visiting the Lair, move again to Troskovitsa and tell the bailiff everything. After the cutscene, you will automatically reach the Lair along with the representatives of the law and after the charges are brought, the gallows will await Kreisel and his friends.
