In God of War Ragnarok, the Path of Destruction is a request during which you have to find, lure and defeat Slaghorn, for killing which they give two teeth and one dragon claw. In this guide, we'll show you how to start this side quest, as well as find and defeat the lizard's lair.
Way of Destruction request
How to start the quest
< p>First of all, go through the story mission called “Beasts of Prophecy”. When you visit Vanaheim again, you will be given a side quest “The Smell of Survival”, which will lead you to a new area – the Crater. Then move to its northwestern part and interact with the Sky Altar to change day to night.
Now move to the south of the Plains to find a passage to the Jungle, as shown in the two screenshots below. Head to the southwestern part of the location until you reach the dam, where you will receive the “Return of the River” request. Pass it so that water returns to the river.
After that, return to the Heavenly Altar and go to the day again, and then go to the area where two ogres are throwing stones, and deal with them. We talked in detail about how to get to them in the guide for the “Path of the Dead” quest.
During daylight, you can cross from this area to the other side by using the capture point near the tangled roots. The approximate location of the transition is shown in the screenshots below.
After crossing to the opposite bank, go along the main path, jump over the abyss, turn left, climb the ledge, turn left again and jump through the hole again, and then study the huge footprint on the ground and go right through the narrow passage. After that, the mission you need immediately starts.
Follow the trail
It's easy here – turn left and take a few steps forward until you see large round hole. You will just have to jump into this hole.
How to lure out the lizard
When you fall into the pit, turn around and throw your ax at the spinning wooden slab (in its white part), which acts as a handle for opening the cage. Then lower the camera down a bit and freeze the glowing gear so that the grate doesn't go down again. In the same room, by the way, you can find the legendary chest.
Run to the iron gate near the chest and open it. Go outside and attack the two gulons, but don't kill them. Enter back into the room and lure the monsters to the area. Then jump off it and return your ax to close the cage.
Next, interact with the chain in order to raise the gulons (often one monster is enough) up to the dragon's lair. Thus, you can lure him out of hiding. Turn around and go outside. Turn left immediately and climb up two ledges to return to the shore.
From there, run left to the woven roots and jump down. Walk past the purple flower to the chain ahead and climb up. Next, go along the already familiar path to return to the location with a hole in the center. The boss will be waiting for you there.
How to kill Shlakoroga
This enemy is similar to other Dreks, but has much more health and can deal a lot of damage with his normal and charged attacks. This boss will do fast swings, unblockable bites, and tail slams (break block) that are very easy to dodge due to the long prepare animation (although you can make a mistake and dodge too early, thereby getting hit).
< p>
Slaghorn will sometimes launch a rock with its tail at Kratos – it can be parried, dealing significant damage to the enemy. The boss's most dangerous attack is a stomp on the ground, creating an unblockable shockwave. If you see her, then immediately jump to the side.
If you stand far from the dragon, then he can make a dash in your direction – parry this attack to knock the enemy down and make him helpless for 5-10 seconds. At long range, it also occasionally fires an unblockable volley with rocks.
When the enemy has less than half of his life bar, he will begin to carry out many of his attacks twice or even three times in a row. Since most of his punches hit in a straight line, we advise you to stand on the side of the monster and hit his legs. You will also be able to dodge bites and rocks more easily.
After defeating the dragon, you will complete the request. As a reward, you will receive 4500 experience points for Kratos, 1125 experience points for Atreus, Healing Essence (amulet enchantment), 1 dragon claw and 2 teeth.
