After arriving on planet Amphoraeus in Honkai: Star Rail, the Pathfinder, a free 5-star character, meets a cute new companion named Memo. After this fateful acquaintance, the protagonist opens access to the abilities of the Path of Memory and the ice element. In this guide, we will consider the best builds and gameplay features of the next variation of the protagonist of this fascinating story.
Main features of the Pathfinder (Memory)
How to get the Pathfinder (Memory)
The Pathfinder will gain access to the Path of Memory during the story quest “O Curtain of the Night, Hide the Silent Past”. After that, you can switch to the desired variation of the main character at any time in the character menu.
Pioneer (Memory) stat progression
As the hero levels up, his base stats will change.
Level | Attack Power | Defense | HP | Speed |
---|---|---|---|---|
1 | 74 | 86 | 143 | 103 |
20 | 144 | 167 | 278 | 103 |
40 | 277 | 322 | 535 | 103 |
60 | 410 | 476 | 791 | 103 |
80 | 543 | 631 | 1048 | 103 |
Also at all levels, the Pathfinder has standard values of critical hit chance and critical damage of 5% and 50%. The taunt and ultimate cost are 100 and 160 units, respectively.
Pathfinder Abilities (Memory)
Basic Strike “I can do that!”deals ice damage to one enemy equal to 50-130% of its attack power. Reduces enemy durability by 30 and restores 20 energy.
Explanation: the most basic attacks that will only be used to generate skill points.
Skill “It Will Be You!”Summons the spirit of memory Memo. If the pink companion is already on the field, reusing the skill will restore 30-75% of her health and 10% of her charge. Restores 30 units of Pathfinder energy.
Explanation: The skill will always be used at the beginning of the battle or after Memo disappears to summon her to the field, as well as in emergency situations to restore her health. But, although this skill replenishes the energy of the spirit and the hero himself, you should still not use it every turn, giving preference to the basic attack, so as not to waste valuable skill points.
The super ability “Together, Memo!” gives the spirit 40% charge, deals 120-300% ice damage to all enemies and reduces their stamina bar by 60 units.
Explanation: Although the ultimate has a good multiplier overall, the Pathfinder is mostly going to be a support, so the main functions of this skill will be restoring Memo's energy and breaking through enemy vulnerabilities.
Within the Almighty Companion talent, Memo's base speed is listed as 130 units and its ability to gain 1% charge for every 10 energy restored by allies. By upgrading this skill, you can also increase the companion's health from 50% of the Pathfinder's HP plus 400 units to 95% plus 760.
Explanation: Allies' energy recovery will help them build up Memo charge for their special ability faster. Heroes such as Hoho, Resurrection, and Tingyun can speed up this process. However, Acheron and Feixiao will not be able to activate this talent, as their ultimates do not have energy.
It is also worth noting that the Memo stats not listed in this talent are the same as the Pathfinder's.
Pathfinder's Technique “Echo of Memories”for 10 seconds, creates a special space in which all enemies immediately freeze. After the battle begins, they will receive 100% of the hero's attack power as ice damage, and their action will be delayed by 50%.
It is worth remembering that there can only be one special space created by heroes.
Memory Spirit Abilities
As part of the “Villains! Trouble!”” skillMemo deals four icy strikes to random targets for 18-50.4% damage, followed by a massive attack on all enemies on the field, dealing 45-126% damage.
Explanation: Memo will use this skill automatically when it's her turn if she hasn't reached 100% charge. Thanks to the Trailblazer's passive (A4), this attack will also restore 5% of the charge.
When the charge reaches 100%, Memo will immediately take a turn, during which she can only use another variation of the skill called “I! Will Help!”. The spirit selects one ally, advances their action by 100%, and gives Memo Support for three turns. The hero with this status deals additional true damage equal to 18-36% of the original damage. If the companion uses this skill on themselves, the action advance effect will not work.
Explanation: to use this skill, you need to collect the charge that was mentioned in the previous skills of the Pathfinder. In some ways, this process resembles the accumulation of energy for the use of superpowers by ordinary characters, but it is still worth noting that its speed is not affected by the energy recovery stat.
True damage is an additional instance of damage that is not affected by any buffs or debuffs, and it does not have an elemental coloring. Its size will depend on the final damage dealt to the enemy by the character.
To make it clearer, let's give an example. An ally with the Memo Support status hits an enemy for 100,000 damage. This number already takes into account all the stats of the character himself, as well as the enemy's resistance. At level six of the talent, he will deal an additional 28% of damage from this indicator to the monster. Thus, the final damage value will be as follows: 100,000 * 1.28 = 128,000.
This damage increase can be applied to all types of attacks: normal elemental hits of any skills, both critical and non-critical, penetration and super penetration, periodic damage, which makes the Pathfinder and Memo a fairly universal ally.
When Memo is present on the field, thanks to the talent “Friends! Together!”Crit. damage of all her allies is increased by 6-16.8% of the spirit's own stat plus 12-33.6%. Recall that the companion's own critical damage is equal to the Pathfinder's critical damage.
There are also two passive abilities associated with this skill:
- Forward, Memo! – when the spirit first appears on the field, it immediately has 50% charge.
- Without… Regrets – when Memo disappears (her HP drops to 0), the Pathfinder's next action is advanced by 25%.
Traces of the Pathfinder (Memory)
The image below shows additional traces of the Pathfinder. They are mainly aimed at increasing critical damage, attack power and HP.
It is worth telling a little more about some of the traces.
- Thanks to A2, the Pathfinder will be able to go first in the squad, and Memo will appear on the field with 90% charge immediately.
- To get the maximum true damage bonus from A6, the cost of the ally's ultimate with Memo Support must reach 200 units of energy. This is not a mandatory condition, but heroes with energy requirements of 200 and higher (for example, Great Herta or Aglaya) will feel this buff more strongly and increase their final damage by more than 1.5 times.
Pathfinder's Eidolons (Memory)
Pathfinder of Memory Eidolons can be obtained absolutely free of charge for completing the following activities:
- Completing quests from the quest chain “Tales of the Flame-Chasing Heroes”;
- Offering Celestial Ambrosia to the Tide Bowl;
- Filling in the pages of the book “Thus Written by Me”.
Next, we will consider the effect of each eidolon.
Name | Description | Benefits |
---|---|---|
Storyteller of the Present | The chance of a critical hit of an ally with Memo Support increases by 10%. This status also begins to spread to the spirit/master of the skill target. | One of the best buffs for potential allies who, like the main character, play with their companions. Gives an additional pleasant bonus to crit. chance. The effect of the eidolon will be especially noticeable on representatives of the Path of Memory, since you won’t have to choose who to buff, the owner or the spirit, since both will receive an equivalent buff. |
Collector of the Forgotten | When the spirit of an ally’s memory, except for Memo herself, makes a move, the Pathfinder restores 8 units of energy. The effect is triggered once per hero’s turn. | Will allow the Pathfinder to gain ultimate faster, thereby accelerating the charging of Memo’s special skill. But it can only be used in a squad with other representatives of the Path of Memory. |
Singer of the Future | Increases skill and talent level by 2 and. Their maximum level is 15. Also increases the level of Memo talent by 1. Maximum level is 10. | Has not the strongest, but still quite a pleasant effect, increasing the critical damage of an ally with Memo Support even more. |
Muse Dancer | When an ally with 0 Max Energy uses their skills, Memo will restore 3% of their charge, and the True Damage Multiplier of the Supported target will be increased by 6%. | First of all, it is worth noting that only skills that are manually activated by pressing the corresponding keys are considered skill usage. Self-triggered bonus attacks do not trigger this effect. Eidolon's benefit is directly affected by the presence of characters with ultimates that do not depend on energy, such as Acheron and Feixiao, on the account. Thanks to this bonus, they will also be able to receive the buff from Pathfinder and charge Memo as if their ultimate had a cost of 130 units. |
Weaver of Musical Odes | Increases the level of the ultimate by 2 and the basic attack by 2. Maximum level: 15 and 10 respectively. Also increases the level of the Memo skill by 1. Maximum level: 10. | Another not the strongest, but a nice buff that increases the true damage of the target with Memo Support. |
Heir of Revelation | Pathfinder's Ultimate gets a fixed crit chance of 100%. | Considering that Pathfinder doesn't focus on his damage, he will gain a high crit damage value. With this eidolon, every hit of the Ultimate will be able to crit, which, although not essential, will increase the overall DPS of the squad. |
How to play Pathfinder (Memory)
Overall, the gameplay of the Ice Pathfinder is pretty simple. It revolves around building up charges to activate Memo Support. The rotation would look something like this:
- Use the Pathfinder technique if other allies don't have a higher priority space-creating ability.
- After the first summon in battle, Memo will have 90% charge immediately, meaning the spirit will be able to fill the gauge without additional use of the Pathfinder skill.
- When the charge is ready, cast Memo Support on the main damage dealer. This will advance its action and increase the damage.
- An ally with Support will be able to perform an action immediately, and this status will remain with him for two more turns. You can understand whether the support time has expired by the blue heart under the hero's avatar.
- During the battle, keep an eye on Memo's HP and restore it if necessary using the Pathfinder or Healer skill. If anything, the health bar is to the left of the spirit avatar, and the charge bar is to the right.
Also an unusual fact, but Memo Support can be applied to several heroes at once. This will only make sense if at least one of them moves quite rarely and does not use up the buff too quickly. For example, this could be Zaryanka. If you use the skill on her first, then in the concert state she will deal even more damage. And while she is performing her song, if you choose the team appropriately, you will be able to strengthen the main damage dealer.
Advantages and disadvantages of the Pioneer (Memory)
The following positive aspects can be highlighted in the gameplay of the Pathfinder on the Path of Memory:
- Available, but at the same time very strong support.
- A universal ally that can be placed in any squad.
- Provides forward movement of the selected ally, without consuming skill points.
- Has a wide selection of planar decorations suitable for various squads and game situations.
- Eidolons can be obtained simply for completing the game content.
- Passively increases one of the most important damage stats for allies – critical damage.
- Gives an extremely high multiplier, which increases the final damage by approximately 1.5 times.
- The technique slows down enemies, thanks to which the squad will have a chance to surrender their initial abilities before the enemies begin to attack.
- Can become one of the best budget supports for future heroes of the Path of Memory.
But as always, you can also encounter several unpleasant moments:
- It is necessary to monitor the health of the additional team member – Memo, so that she does not disappear from the field at the most inopportune moment.
- Reduced base health compared to other legendary heroes can make it difficult for the spirit of memory to survive.
- Memo's charge can fill at the wrong moment, when the hero's advancement is not only not required, but can also disrupt the entire rotation, and it is quite difficult to control this process.
- The Pathfinder's offensive abilities do not make a noticeable contribution to the squad's DPS.
- Using the Pathfinder of Memory closes the possibility of using the main hero of the Path of Harmony in the second team, who is still an excellent ally for penetration squads.
- Against the background of their own powerful buffering abilities, the eidolons do not make a noticeable boost to the basic skills of the Pathfinder of Memory.
- Inability to combine the technique with other similar skills of allies that create space around enemies.
- If you use a skill that affects a limited number of squad members, then Memo can take one of the charges for himself. For example, the Hoho skill will heal not three allies, but only two and the spirit standing between the heroes.
Best build for Pathfinder (Memory)
Best light cones
The Pathfinder (Ice) will benefit from the Path of Memory cones aimed at buffing the allies of the cone bearer. It will also be good if the weapon can give the main character additional critical damage. At the time of version 3.0, there are not many such options in the game. Below we will consider them all.
Name | Characteristics | Ability |
---|---|---|
Quick Victory (4 stars) | HP: 38–846 Attack Power: 22–476 Defense: 18–396 | Increases the wearer's critical damage by 12-24%. When the Spirit of Memory uses a skill on an ally, all allies' damage is increased by 8-16% for 3 turns. Will give the hero the stats he needs and will pleasantly buff the entire squad when Memo applies his Support status. A free weapon, the awakening of which can be purchased in the Passage of Light Cones, and one copy is generally given out for the same mission as the Pathfinder of Memory. |
Scorched Shadows (3 stars) | HP: 38–846 Attack Power: 14–317 Defense: 12–264 | When the bearer first summons the spirit of memory, it restores 1 skill point and 12-20 units of energy. A budget option that is well suited for squads with a high consumption of action points. It will also help to quickly collect energy for the ultimate, which will restore the charge of Memo. |
The best relics
Among the cave relics, those sets that increase the speed or critical damage of their bearer are suitable for the main character.
Name | Bonuses | Advantages |
---|---|---|
Hero sung by the epic | 2 parts: increase attack power by 12%. 4 pieces: While the wearer's Memory Spirit is on the battlefield, its speed is increased by 6%. When the wearer's Memory Spirit attacks, its critical damage is increased by 30% for two turns. | While the two pieces of the set do not offer any useful stats for the Pathfinder, the full set will provide a fairly noticeable increase in critical damage, as well as increase the wearer's speed. It will be especially effective if you want the hero to deal his own damage. |
The thorny path of the priest The Messenger wandering in the hacker's space | 2 parts: increase speed by 6%. 2 parts: increases movement speed by 6%. | This combination will be the best for a fully supportive build, as it will allow the Pathfinder to walk more often, generate more skill points and gain energy faster for the ultimate, which will replenish the charge of Memo. |
Glacial Forest Hunter | 2 parts: increases ice damage by 10%. 4 parts: super ability increases the wearer's critical damage by 25% for 2 turns. | Only suitable for the Pathfinder as a sub-DD, and also if you already have a set with suitable stats. Will increase both the wearer's own damage and the critical damage of an ally with Memo Support. |
Among the planar decorations farmed in the Virtual Universe, you can choose the following sets.
Name | Bonuses | Advantages |
---|---|---|
Broken Keel | 2 pieces: Increases the wearer's effect resistance by 10%. If the wearer's effect resistance is greater than or equal to 30%, all allies' critical damage is increased by 10%. | Any of these sets can be a good option for a Pathfinder support. The choice of a specific one will depend on the needs of the team and the sets installed on other allies. |
Fleet of the Ageless | 2 parts: maximum health increases by 12%. If the wearer's speed is more than 120, then the attack power of the entire team increases by 8%. | |
Dreamland Penakonia | 2 parts: Increases energy regeneration speed by 5%. Increases damage dealt by allies of the same type as the owner by 10%. | |
Mermaid, Flooded Shores | 2 parts: increase energy regeneration speed by 5%. If the wearer is not in 1st place on the team, the attack power of the hero who is on it increases by 12%. | |
Wonderful Banana Paradise | 2 parts: increase the wearer's critical damage by 16%. If there are creatures summoned by the owner on the battlefield, then critical damage additionally increases by 32%. | Gives a noticeable increase to critical damage by 48%. A suitable option to buff allies more strongly if you can't get this indicator from sub-stats. |
Living Vonvak | 2 parts: the wearer's energy recovery stat is increased by 5%. If the owner's speed is greater than or equal to 120 units, then at the beginning of the battle, his action is advanced by 40%. | With this set and his A2 trace, the Pathfinder will definitely go first, which will allow you to summon Memo as early as possible to start accumulating a charge from the first moves of other allies. |
In individual items, you should look for the following stats:
- Body: critical damage.
- Legs: speed.
- Planar Sphere: Bonus Ice Damage/HP/Defense (the first one is for increasing damage, the next two are for increasing spirit survivability and comfort).
- Connecting Rope: Energy recovery.
- Additional stats: Speed (can be raised up to 160) → Critical Damage (not less than 180%, and preferably more than 200%) → HP/Defense/Effect Resistance.
Best Teams for Pathfinder (Memory)
The Ice Elemental Pathfinder is a fairly versatile ally, with skills that focus on increasing any type of damage. Because of this, he can fit into any team as a buffer, but his abilities will be at their best in squads with a damage dealer who has an expensive ult or is following the Path of Memory. Below are some examples of suitable squads.
Main DD | Sub DD | Sub DD/Support | Support |
---|---|---|---|
Great Hertha | Jasper (Hertha, Serval) | Pioneer (Ice) | Linsha (Gallagher) |

Leveling up the Pathfinder (Memory)
How to increase abilities (what to level up first)
The amount of materials needed to fully level up a basic attack/spirit skill/spirit talent and a skill/ultimate/talent is listed below.
- Seed of Thought, Sprout of Awareness, and Bud of Consciousness can be obtained by completing the Sepal of Memory.
- Thief's Instinct, Twisted Ambition, and Conqueror's Will drop from the Antimatter Legion in the Open World and the Virtual Universe.
- Soul Feathers can be obtained from Echoes of War: Battlefield of the Inner Beast.
- Fate Imprints are obtained by completing quests in temporary events, the Virtual Universe, and Honor of the Nameless.
To obtain missing items, you can use the Synthesis Machine or purchase them from the Pom-Pom Shop with Everlasting Ash.
First of all, it is worth pumping the Memo skill “Villains! Problems!”, since the amount of true damage depends on it. Then pay attention to the spirit talent “Friends! Together!”. Immediately after it, you can increase the level of the talent of the Pathfinder itself. After that, it is worth improving the ultimate and skill. Basic attacks, in general, can be left without pumping.
How to elevate a character
Unlike skills, the level of the Pathfinder can be pumped only once. It will not reset when switching between Paths. To do this, you will need the following resources:
- Ascension (level 30): credits x3200 and Thief's Instinct x4;
- Ascension (level 40): credits x6400 and Thief's Instinct x8;
- Ascension (level 50): credits x12800, Warped Ambition x5 and Bottomless Ectoplasm x4;
- Ascension (level 60): credits x32000, Warped Ambition x8 and Bottomless Ectoplasm x6;
- Ascension (level 70): credits x64000, Will of the Conqueror x5 and Bottomless Ectoplasm x8;
- Ascension (level 80): credits x128000, Will of the Conqueror x7 and Bottomless Ectoplasm x10.
Bottomless Ectoplasm is a special item for Pathfinder Ascension. It can be obtained by completing certain missions and increasing the Exploration level.
