In Baldur's Gate 3 there are quite a few secret rooms and passages that open only after solving puzzles. One of these is located in the Inquisitor's Chambers, a difficult-to-reach area to the north of the Illek manger. Here you may come across a room with two rotating Lathander Monuments, the correct placement of which can bring you closer to obtaining the Blood of Lathander legendary weapon.
From our article you will learn how to find and solve the puzzle in the inquisitor's chambers. We'll tell you how to unfold two Lathander monuments and what to do with a stuck statue.
How to get to the Inquisitor's Chambers in Baldur's Gate 3
The first thing you need to do is get to Rosimorn's Abode. This complex of ruins can be found behind the mountain pass, and is associated with Laesel's personal quest. Having a Githyanki in your party can make your journey a little easier, but it is not required.
Find the path to the monastery basement
The path to the Geet manger lies through the basement of the monastery. This passage is located behind the statue of Lathander, which stands in the northern half of the ruined temple. Since the building was heavily damaged by destruction, you will have to climb a little and jump over rubble and cliffs more than once.
First floor
So, not far from the rune circle “Rosimorn's Abode” there is a main entrance, but it closed. On the left you can see a broken stained glass window, through which you can climb into the hall with tipsy kobolds. Make your way through the room to a hole in the wall, from which you need to climb to the second floor of the building.
If you don’t want to fight with short creatures, turn on stealth for your squad and carefully crawl under the wooden scaffolding to the far side of the room. It is best to move not a group, but each hero separately – this way you are less likely to create unnecessary noise and aggro creatures.
Second Floor
From the room with the kobolds, climb up the rocks and jump onto the terrace with an artificial overgrown pool. From there, go through the boarded-up passage, which can be found with a successful Perception check (but it's already visible).
After breaking the boards, turn immediately left and move straight, jumping over the crack on the floor with the sun sign. There will be a corridor ahead with two doors, we need the far one. From it you can get to a dilapidated flight of stairs – here we go back down to the first floor.
The path to the basement of the monastery
After going down, go forward and turn left. The heroes will run into another boarded-up passage, having broken through it, you need to turn into the door on the right – it leads to the hall with the statue of Lathander (X: 73 Y: 67).
It remains to go down to the door located behind the monument. Interacting with her will transport your group straight to the Illek nursery.
Go to the captain's office
Before moving to the guard posts, decide on the composition of your squad:
- Having taken Laezel, you will pass by Gish Faraag without any problems: select the option “Let Laezel answer” in the dialogue, and she will provide you with a safe path through the manger;
- Without the githyanki's help, your only option is through Intimidation or Persuasion tests. Even if you don't pass the first time, you can use a re-roll. However, if you fail all attempts, the gith will become hostile.
If you don’t want to deal with a group of aggressive warriors, at least take Laezel with you for a while. Movement in this part of the nursery is free, so you can always leave it in the camp.
From the main entrance, move straight and then right to the place with the rune circle. At the end of the corridor with the teleporter there is a passage to the office of the githyanki commander, Kitrak Terrezin, through which we can get to the inquisitor's chambers.
Steal the key to the githyanki barrier
After the cutscene (if you are entering for the first time), select the most agile character and go around the Gith captain from behind. Crouch and click on Kitrak Terrezin to steal. In her luggage will be the only item we need – a githyanki shard.
You don’t even have to talk to the warrior, but after the theft, be prepared that the woman will git will quickly detect the loss. In this case, you can:
- No checks: Give 723 gold/attack (but it’s better not to);
- Try to negotiate by choosing answers with Intimidation, Persuasion or Deception (DC 15).
If there is a Shadowheart in the party, keep her away from the Kithrak wolves – the partner, upon seeing them, immediately gets frightened by 2 progress.
Remains insert the jewel into the barrier-breaking mechanism, and the gith themselves will express a desire to talk with unexpected guests.
Enter the inquisitor's chambers
In the area behind the barrier, a red zone begins, in which you will not be able to freely moveto the nearest movement points. Move along the central bridge to the large wooden door and go straight into the hall. The puzzle room is located to the left of Chirai Vvargaz, a loyal follower of Vlaakith.
How to unfold the statues in the Inquisitor's Chambers in Baldur's Gate 3
In the room at coordinates X: 1330 Y: 661 you will find two monuments to Lathander, at the foot of which there is a sign with the following text:
- Northern: “…the rising sun, the source of all blessings”;
- Southern: “…says goodbye to the setting sun.”
From the instructions it follows: one of monuments should be turned to the east (sunrise), and the other – to the west (sunset).
Northern statue
Monuments should rotate when you right-click on them, this is how it works from the north: click on it 3 times so that your face is looking towards the main hall – this is exactly the east direction.
Southern Statue
With the southern statue, not everything is so simple: if your character's Athletics bonus is quite high (+8/+10), then when interacting with the monument, you are more likely to pass the ability check and can easily turn the monument (you can try with all characters).
But if your characters fail the test, it will be discovered that the statue is stuck. Then you need to hit with a fairly heavy weapon, which will cause at least 10 units of damage to hit the monument. One hit is enough – the statue has only 30 HP and can collapse if you do not calculate your strength.
The southern monument of Lathander must be turned to the west, that is, with your back to the passage into the room (also 3 times).
If done correctly, a passage will open in the eastern half of the room to a secret staircase, from where you can get to a secret section. After following the revealed path, we get the opportunity to pick up the legendary mace “Blood of Lathander”.
