In Genshin ImpactThe Ravenous Yumkasaurus Mountain King is a powerful Saurian and elite boss added to the game with the release of Update 5.0. Kongamato drops Overripe Flame Grenade, which is required to Ascend certain characters. This guide will tell you where to find this enemy, what team to prepare to fight him, the fastest ways to defeat him, and what achievements you can unlock.
Where to Find the Ravenous Yumkasaurus Mountain King
There are no additional requirements to unlock this boss, so you can essentially get to him right after completing the Archon quest “Song of Dragon Freedom”. However, we still recommend that you take on the Natlan quest chain first.
So, first of all, get to Natlan by teleporting to the opened teleport west of the Hadramawet Desert. Then get to or teleport to the waypoint near the river, shown on the map above. You will see a crevice ahead – glide into it. After descending to the bottom of the gorge, continue moving west, jumping off the waterfall.
You will find yourself in a spacious cave. Continue flying in the western direction, reaching the teleport. Ahead and below you will see an arena where a giant Jumkazavr will be peacefully sleeping.
Respawn of the Gluttonous Mountain King Jumkazavr
After you defeat this boss, it will respawn almost instantly – you will need to teleport to another area or re-enter the game for the huge Saurian to respawn. Also remember that you will have to spend 40 units of Primordial Resin to collect rewards from it.
Gluttonous Mountain King Jumkazavr Stats
Even in its normal state, this enemy has 70% resistance to Dendro elements, but its resistance to other types of damage (including physical) is only 10%. This imposes certain restrictions on the selection of characters to fight this enemy.
If we talk about the combat parameters of this special Yumkasaurus, it has impressive health indicators, but at the same time its attack power is comparable to similar values of the Monstrous Baptist or Unut Setekh. For example, at level 90, its base HP is 1 million units (the worm has 519 thousand), and ATK is 15.9 thousand units (the Baptist has 15.2 thousand). Tips for Choosing Heroes
Given the boss's large health bar and average attack power, we recommend that you focus on the offensive capabilities of your squad, meaning don't take more than one shield/healer or try to do without such characters altogether.
Primary damage dealers can be of any element except Dendro. However, we recommend that you definitely take at least one Pyro character who can quickly deal fire damage if needed to set fire to the flame grenades (more on that below).
As for secondary damage dealers and supports, they can be of any element, since the former's job is to create the necessary reactions, and the latter's job is to increase the damage dealers' elemental damage. Therefore, you can easily take, for example, Bai Zhu, Emilia or Nahida to your squad. The list of all suitable heroes is shown in the picture below.
Optimal Teams
In the table below, we have shown the optimal teams with Pyro damage dealers, but the presence of fire characters is not at all necessary, so you can take a team from any of your other pumped-up characters (the main thing is that the main DD does not belong to the Dendro element).

Gluttonous Mountain King Jumkazavr Attacks and Movement
Spit
The boss spits out a single poison projectile at the hero, dealing damage to Dendro in a small area.
Stomp
The boss raises one of its legs high and then stomps it, dealing damage to Dendro in a small area. Sometimes it will be followed immediately by a tail slam.
Tail slam
The boss turns its back to the player, then rolls and slams its tail into the ground, dealing area-of-effect damage to Dendro.
Jump Strike
The boss uses its tongue to jump up, hover above the player, and then fall on them, dealing area-of-effect damage to Dendro.
Swing and Fall
The boss uses its tongue to swing and fall on the player from a great height, causing two expanding shockwaves at once, dealing significant damage to Dendro.
Stomach Spin
The boss begins to spin on its stomach, moving towards the player and repeatedly dealing Dendro damage on impact. Subsequent hits deal less damage than previous hits.
Spitting Flame Grenades
The boss can summon 1 or 3 flame grenades that will fall in front of him. If he swallows them, he will launch a single fireball at the player in the first case, and in the second case, he will release 2 fireballs and then shoot a powerful fire beam. All of these attacks deal Pyro damage.
While the flame grenades are on the ground, you can try to set them on fire with Pyro attacks. If Kongamato swallows 1-2 ignited fruits, he will take significant damage, and if you manage to force him to eat all 3 fruits, he will also be paralyzed for a while, allowing you to hit him without hindrance.
How to defeat the Voracious Mountain King Yumkasaurus
Preparing for battle
Before the battle, you can eat dishes that increase attack power, critical damage, and critical hit chance. It would be a good idea to drink potions that increase certain elemental damage to strengthen your damage dealers. In this case, the following will be useful:
- Whirlpool Oil – increases Hydro damage by 25% for 5 minutes.
- Blaze Oil – increases Pyro damage by 25% for 5 minutes.
- Frost Oil – Increases Cryo damage by 25% for 5 minutes.
- Thunder Oil – Increases Electro damage by 25% for 5 minutes.
- Essence of Stillness – Increases Geo damage by 25% for 5 minutes.
The boss also mainly deals Dendro and Pyro damage, so we recommend you take the Heat Shield Potion and Anti-Dendro Potion, which increase resistance to Pyro and Dendro damage respectively by 25% for 300 seconds.
Battle Strategy
In fact, everything is quite simple here – at the beginning of the fight, you need to start attacking the boss, trying not to get caught in his attacks. We advise you to stay close to him so that he does not use spitting and jumping attacks. Stomp, tail attack and spin are quite easy to dodge, especially if you stay behind the enemy.
If you have a Pyro character in your party, try to always keep his skills ready. The thing is, at a certain point, the Mountain King will shake out 1 or 3 flame grenades (blue fruits). At this point, switch to the Pyro hero and use his fire attacks on the fruits.
Each ignited fruit will cause significant damage to the enemy, and if he swallows all 3, he will be stunned for a while, so you can attack him with impunity. If he manages to eat regular fruits, he will then be able to launch fireballs and a laser beam at you, causing huge Pyro damage.
Achievements for the Gluttonous Mountain King Jumkazavr

To open this achievement, you just need to follow the strategy described above, that is, wait for the moment when the boss shakes out the flame grenades on the ground, and then light at least one of them, and watch as Kongamato swallows it. For unlocking the achievement, they give 5 Primogems.
