In Genshin Impact“Rocks, Coconuts, Saurian Traders” is a short world quest from the Pyro region and part of the “In the Footsteps of the Dragon's Chosen” quest chain, which can be started on the coast southeast of the foggy island. Having met a worried Kax and his injured Tepetlisaur friend on the beach, the heroes decide to help the traveling merchant with setting up a camp, and later – with poachers.
In this guide, we will analyze the entire process of completing the “Rocks, Coconuts, Saurian Traders” quest, in particular, finding materials for the camp and reconnaissance at the bandit base. For the mission, in addition to 30 Primogems and useful resources, players will be able to unlock the secret achievement “Cat Food for Shrimp” and a new decorative item “The Kid is a Great Hero!“.
Walkthrough of the quest “Rocks, Coconuts, Saurian Merchants”
Let's start the quest by meeting the NPC examining the lying Tepetlisaur on the shore southeast of the foggy island – approach the quest marker and find out what happened.
We meet the merchant Kax, who briefly left his tepetlisaur named Big Coconut, and upon returning found him injured. The man needs to go get help, and while he is gone, someone needs to look after the injured saurian. The heroes decide to help, first of all, they take on the arrangement of a resting place for themselves and the injured saurian.
Collect wood
To craft a shelter for the Big Coconut, inspect several places on the beach (first screenshot above) and collect 5 copies of Blast Flame Wood or Ash Aratiku. If you have these consumables, you can skip the beach.
Go to Kax's equipment (place near the cart) and place the obtained materials in it. Select any suitable resource in your inventory, the amount of which is at least five.
Think about how to talk to Big Coconut and the cornsaurus
Having arranged a canopy and a bed for Big Coconut, the team falls asleep, and after waking up, a wounded cornsaurus appears in the camp. Since there are already two victims, the heroes need to talk to them personally. Coholosaurus are swimming in the water near the shore – possess a large specimen and return to the canopy to question the saurians.
It turns out that the poachers are to blame for the injuries of the saurians, and they clearly need to be taught a lesson. To prevent them from running away when they sense something is wrong, it is important to counterattack unexpectedly, having first scouted out the situation in the enemy camp on the mountain nearby.
Go on reconnaissance to the poachers' camp
Move towards the camp on the mountain southeast of the beach. As they get closer, the heroes will overhear the poachers' conversations and decide that the best tactic before attacking is to create a commotion. And it's best to leave this job to our little Saurian companion.
Wait until the Saurian companion wreaks havoc in the camp
After discussing the plan, go to the golden mark and “Start stealth movement“. After that, a small test of infiltrating the camp and finding out the situation will begin.
For everything to go smoothly, you need to select actions for the saurian in this order:
- Iron cage;
- Powder kegs;
- Cart with a saurian.
The camp will panic, and the baby Saurian will return to us – in such a situation it will be possible to teach a lesson to illegal traders.
Defeat the poacher boss
Head to the base and defeat the evil profiteer who once sold his Saurian companion. You can skip the small bandits and aim only at the warrior with the cryo gun (she is Oeno of the Golden Claw).
Return to the camp on the beach
Finally, return to the Big Coconut and report what happened to its owner. The team will tell you about poachers and special cartridges, which most likely affected the saurian Kax. Despite the fact that the leader managed to escape from the base we destroyed, now all the patrols in the area will know about the bandits. Kax decides to leave the camp for other travelers and makes a sign nearby, on which he depicts his benefactors – at the end of this dialogue, the task will come to an end.

For fully completing the quest “Rocks, Coconuts, Saurian Traders”, the player is entitled to the following amount of rewards:
- 30 Primogems;
- several purple experience books;
- secret achievement “Cat Food for Shrimp” (+5 Primogems);
- decor “The kid is a great hero!”;
- 250 experience points;
- from 20 thousand Mora and some power-up ore.
