How to open safes in Dying Light: The Beast
Most safes in the game are small metal boxes that usually stand on shelves indoors and are opened using combinations ofthree numbers. You can find out the required numbers using hints, which are often located next to the case.
As a rule, the necessary combinations are written down on pieces of paper, wall boards, posters, photographs, walls or documents – just scan the space and study all the research points (magnifying glass icon). Often the numbers are written in special ink, so they can only be seen if you shine an ultraviolet light on them, so do not forget to use your flashlight.
To discover some combinations, it may not be enough just to find the corresponding numbers – you will also need to solve a small mathematical problem or solve a simple riddle. In this case, you will have to act quickly, because there may always be enemies nearby.
Hacking safes without codes
Note that if you do not want to use ready-made codes, but are too lazy to look for clues, then you can try on the role of a real burglar and try to determine the correct combination by sounds. The fact is that when you pass the correct number, you should hear a characteristic click (more dull than usual).
Add that if you play on a gamepad with good vibration motors, then when you turn the knob you can feel an almost imperceptible vibrationwhen hitting the desired number. You just need to stop at these points, and sooner or later you will find the right password. However, we immediately note that vibration will always be felt at the number “50”, so if you feel two vibrations within one cycle, then choose a number other than “50”.
What to do if there is no safe or the code does not match
If you come to a place where there should be a metal box, but it is nowhere to be found, then most likely this safe is connected to a certain plot or side quest. So first take on the quest, and only then come to the marked point.
We would like to add that the developers also regularly update the game, changing the location of objects or coming up with new combinations for castles. We will try to indicate current combinations, but if they still do not work, then you will have to use the methods we indicated above.

Safe at the train station
- Location: Old Town
Travel to the waypoint located southwest of the train station, and then climb onto the roof of the cafe with the Hipocrates sign, go forward a little, and on the right you will find a board blocking the entrance to the building. After moving the obstacle away, pick the very easy lock on the door and go inside. Take a few steps and you will see a safe on the shelf on the right side.
The required combination is written on a piece of paper “Clear Time”, which lies in the TV cabinet. The correct code is: 12-25-25 or 12-25-55. Inside you will find an army first aid kit and a regeneration accelerator.
Safe in Emil Brik Elementary School
- Location: Villas
Treasure Map D1 can lead you to this safe. Standing north of the school, go through the half-open iron gate and enter the building through the window on the left side. Once inside, start moving to the right, crawling through the small holes. You will end up in the toilet.
Exit the toilet and immediately turn left. In this small room you will see a board with a binary code, which is the correct combination for the safe on the shelf to the left – you just need to convert it to decimal. If you are too lazy to do this, then here is the correct password: 5-50-90 or 5-40-90. Inside you will find jewelry and a smartphone.
Safe near the toiletry store
- Location: Villas
Climb over the fence near the dark area, and then go around the wooden house on the right side and go inside the building using the open window. Next, find the corpse in the bathroom and take the fuse from his hand. Return outside and open the hatch leading to the basement.
After going down, insert the fuse into the panel in front, and then open the iron door on the right. There will be a clue on the rabbit poster hanging on the wall to the right. Then go a little more to the right and in the niche below you will find a safe. Enter the code into it: 2-2-19to open it. It contains revolver cartridges and the legendary Sunray revolver.
Victory safe
- Location: Old Town
Get to the City Hall building and go into the alley on the right side. Run forward, and then climb onto the roof on the right and enter the house through the open door. Run through it and climb out the window on the opposite side. Turn the camera to the right and you will see a balcony that you need to jump onto.
Then turn right and enter the building. In this room you will find a safe, and the clue to it lies below – this is a note. To find the right combination you just need to connect the cabinet plates. If you don't want to bother with this, then enter the code: 11-51-16. Inside you will find jewelry and bullets for a revolver.
Love letter
- Location: Old Town
From the City Hall building, move east and find an abandoned building here. Go inside and go through it to the opposite side. Climb out of the open window in the bedroom and turn right. Start walking forward along the porch, and then jump over to the house on the left.
From this ledge you will need to jump into the open window on the second floor of the opposite house. You will find yourself in the kitchen, where you need to hit the picture with a dog hanging on the wall on the right – it will fall and you will find the correct combination.
Now go deeper into the apartment and enter the bedroom, where to the left of the bed you will find a safe – enter the code 14-11-20 to open it. Inside you will find various valuables and a leather robber mask.
Safe in the Orange Hotel
- Location: Old Town
Go to the north of the indicated area and find the building marked on the map with letters “H” – we are talking about the Orange Hotel. Then climb onto the roof of the hotel and go inside through the open window. Turn right and jump down the hole. Enter the room on the left to find a note with the first clue. The second clue is located near the store aisle in the dark area.
In the same room in the corner you can find a safe, to open which you need to enter the code: 7-6-1. Inside you will find an army first aid kit and various jewelry.
Experimental chamber for the infected
- Location: Old Town
Get to the location shown on the map below, and then go to the second floor of the yellow house by going up the ledge and going through the open door. Go to the opposite side of the apartment. In the living room you will find a safe on the table, and next to it there will be a note with a hint. You also need to solve the equation on the board by shining ultraviolet light on it.
If you are too lazy to solve mathematical problems, then just use the code 15-22-40 to open the vault and pick up the modification drawing from it.
The main safe engineer
- Task: “Hydro-puzzle”
It can only be discovered by completing the specified mission. Head to the repair facility and enter through the broken window. Go to the top floor, take the corridor on the left, and then go through the first door on the right. Here you will find a note with a hint for the combination – it lies on the table next to the monitor.
Exit the room and now go through the second passage on the right, and you will find a safe here, to open which you need to enter the password: 27-1-15 or 27-1-6. Inside you will find a valuable item and the chief engineer's key.
Safe with payment of debt
- Task: “Hydro puzzle”
Continuing through the said mission, enter the small building and go down to the lower level, following the yellow pipes. Take the passage on the right, duck down and enter the small tunnel, turning left. When you can stand up again, turn the camera to the right and you will see wooden boxes – break them to reveal the entrance to the ventilation system.
Crawl forward through the ventilation and you will find yourself in a closed room where the safe is located. The clue with the combination is hidden in a note lying in an open cabinet. Enter the password 21-69-35 and take two bottles of whiskey from the cache.
Safe in Nate's Market
- Location: Farms
Go to the dark area “Nate's Market” and on its northern border find a green vending machine with code panel – enter the combination 8-74-27 into it to pick up an ultraviolet tube and an army first aid kit.
Note that the note with the required password lies inside the house located east of the vending machine. Again, it is not necessary to find it if you already know the necessary code.
The first safe in the task “The Last Wish”
- Location: Farms
The corresponding side quest is given by Amelia, whose location is shown in the screenshots below. Next, simply follow the quest marker until you find yourself inside the desired building. Here you will find two safes – you need the one on the left. The correct code from it looks like this: 20-7-6. Inside you will find Iris's music box.
The second and third safes in the mission “The Last Wish”
- Location: Farms
Continue to complete the indicated mission, and you will soon find yourself in a non-residential building east of the school. You will need to enter the garage next to the road – to do this, go around it on the right side, climb onto the boxes and climb into the open window. Inside you will find two safes with a note containing a hint for the combinations.
To open the safe located to the right of the first one, you need to enter the password 11-17-8. Inside it you will find jewelry. To unlock the safe on the workbench, you must use the code 71-61-45. It will also contain decorations.
Gummi Bears safe
- Location: Industrial zone
Go to the point shown on the map below. Here you will find a pit with a sewer passage – jump down and start swimming through the tunnel to get into the building. Get out of the water and go up. Once indoors, move forward to enter another room. Here you will see a safe on the right, and a note with a hint on the left.
Open the safe using the code 18-20-66, and take from it morphine and a S-OM pistol of common rarity.
Safe in the industrial park
- Location: Industrial zone
Treasure map C1 can lead you to this safe, but you can find it without it. Go to the point shown in the screenshots below, and then climb to the fourth floor of the brick building located north of the railway. Enter it by destroying the wooden barricade on the window.
Once inside, you will immediately see a white board on which the code is partially written. Then turn right and you will see a safe. Enter the password 85-20-48 into it to open and pick up ammunition for the SMG and an army first aid kit.
Safe in Fischerholm
- Location: Fun Island
Head to the dark area “Taurus Warehouse” and then go a little southeast and you will see a small one-story building here with a broken window. Go inside and immediately turn right to see a safe. Enter the code 22-44-66 to open it and pick up an army first aid kit and antibiotics from it.
Note that if you want to find the combination yourself, then turn left and break the box standing on the table. Below the box there will be a hint for calculating the password.
Safe at Pembroke Farm
- Location: Farms
Go to the location shown in the screenshots below. Here you will find an old house, which you can enter through a broken window (you need to break the barricade). Once inside, go to the bathroom and climb through the hole in the wall to enter a closed room. Deal with the zombies and take the key from the table.
Exit this room and turn right twice, then go forward to the closed door and use the key you found earlier to unlock the door and enter the room. Find the note with the Fibonacci number on the cabinet, which is a hint. Then open the safe inserted into the wall by entering the combination 34-55-89. Inside you will find jewelry and a phone.
Safe in the New Grain Trailer
- Location: Farms
Head to the point shown in the pictures below, then go north and climb over the fence. On the right you will see an old shack, on the side of which you can break open the grate and enter the building. Once inside, turn left and you will see a safe sitting on a table. Open it by entering the code 11-20-30. It will contain an ultraviolet tube.
Delivery locker
- Location: Train station
Get to the indicated place and walk forward through the train, then turn right and move along the platform. Take the second passage on the left and immediately enter the corridor on the right, continuing forward. Go outside through the metal door, then turn left and go to the green delivery lockers near the wall.
Interact with the code panel and enter the password 65-83-35. Inside you will find an army first aid kit and morphine.
Safe in the Golden Pine Motel
- Location: Villas
Get to the Golden Pine Motel, which consists of several cottage houses. Enter the house shown in the pictures below and go to the dining room (the farthest room – you just need to run forward). Then turn right and you will see a safe in the closet. The code for it is hidden on a piece of paper with a recipe, which lies in the closet on the opposite side.
So, interact with the cache, enter the combination 86-15-10 and take from it revolver ammunition and an epic rarity K13 army pistol.
Don’t forget the locker code
- Location: Fun Island
Go to the river bank, located south of the dark “Hardware Store” area. Here, find a car with an open trunk – study the piece of paper in it to find out the combination to the closed locker.
Now turn around and run to the yellow building ahead. Go around the store on the right side, running through the parking lot, and you will find green lockers next to the wall. Go to the code panel and enter the password: 62-25-33 to pick up the army first aid kit, UV tube, morphine and book.
Safe in the apartment on Gallery Square
- Location: Old Town
Go to the southern part of the location and approach the house from the south side, and then start climbing onto it and enter it through the open window on the second floor. Once inside, go to the room on the opposite side and find a note with a hint (here you need to solve the equation).
Next, return to the previous room again and find the safe in the closet. If you are too lazy to solve a math problem, then just enter the code: 12-18-22, and then take the jewelry and phone from the cache.
Farewell letter
- Location: Old Town
Go to the southeastern part of the indicated area, where there is a high stone tower, and climb onto the roof of the house standing directly opposite it. Enter the building by going through the broken window, and then read the note next to the corpse, which contains a clue to the correct combination.
Then turn right and go down through the hole to the bottom floor. Walk down the hallway, turn right and enter the living room, then immediately turn around and you will see a safe next to the radio. Enter the code 11-24-32 into it and take the expensive perfume from the cache.
