In Genshin Impact, the Shimmer Mushroom is a local curiosity of Natlan that is required to Ascend some heroes. You will need quite a few of these items, so in this guide we decided to show you where you can find and buy them.
Note: The exact locations of the materials on the map will be revealed after the release of update 5.2. For now, you can read about what they are needed for and how to prepare for their collection.
What is the Shimmering Mushroom in Genshin Impact
Currently, it is required to level up only one playable character, Ororon, but this will likely change in the future, as HoYoverse plans to add many heroes from the Pyro Kingdom. It should be remembered that to level up even one character, you will need to collect 168 of these materials, so we advise you to farm them in advance.
Preparing to collect Shimmering Mushrooms
Recommended characters
You can collect these mushrooms with any heroes, but if you plan to seriously farm them (that is, not make a 5-minute sortie, but arrange a real 30-40 minute hike), then we advise you to take several characters into the squad, which will allow you to significantly reduce the time it takes to collect this curiosity. All of them are listed in the table below, hidden behind the spoiler.
Characters | Features |
---|---|
Nahida | Her elemental skill will allow you to quickly collect curiosities from afar. This will save you from having to climb trees, ledges, and other hard-to-reach places. |
Mualani Kachina Kinich Shilonen Ororon Chaska | The first three characters show all the nearby local curiosities of Natlan on the minimap. At the same time, they all have unique mechanics for moving around the Pyro Kingdom, which makes it much easier to explore. |
Ye Lan | Can very quickly cover both long and short distances in the absence of obstacles with the help of his elemental skill. |

Sayu | If you hold down the heroine's elemental skill for a long time, she will turn into a wind wheel, which will significantly increase her movement speed. Often, it turns out to be even faster to move than sprint. |
Rosaria | The movement speed of team members increases by 10% in the dark (from 18:00 to 06:00) thanks to the heroine's passive skill “Path in the Night”. |
Dehya | The movement speed of team members increases by 10% during daylight hours (from 06:00 to 18:00) thanks to the heroine's passive skill “Solar Path”. |
2x Anemo character | Anemo resonance “Nimble Wind” occurs, which reduces stamina costs by 15% and increases movement speed by 10 percent. |
Don't forget to also bring a large number of endurance dishes with you and add them to your dry rations so that you can use them instantly if needed.
How long does it take for Shimmering Mushrooms to respawn
As with other types of local oddities, these mushrooms respawn exactly after 48 real-time hours. So after visiting the best farming spots, just wait a couple of days and then go through the routes below again or ask to go to your friends' worlds.
Where to find Glimmering Mushrooms in Genshin Impact
The official description says that these are mushrooms that emit a faint light in the dark and are shaped like an ictomysaurus horn. They are used to extract fluorescein, which is then mixed with paint. This composition is used to create Night Spirit graffiti. These mushrooms grow on Tezcatepenco Ridge and near the settlement of the Lords of the Night Wind.
All farming spots will be shown after the release of patch 5.2. We also recommend that you keep an interactive map of Natlan in front of you to better navigate the area.
Where to buy Shimmering Mushrooms
Unfortunately, at the moment, you can't buy this local curiosity from anyone. However, you can get some during test runs and hero birthdays. Plus, several Shimmering Mushrooms are given out for some tasks in the world of Natlan. Of course, these methods are not comparable in efficiency with farming, so there is no escape from it.
