In Zenless Zone Zero (ZZZ) Fortune's Smile is the story of Agent Bernice, during which you will have to help the members of the Sons of Calidon win the lottery and spend the denny they receive. To do this, you will need to complete several combat orders, fighting various opponents. In this guide you will learn how to start and complete this quest chain.
How to Start the Fortune's Smile Agent Story in ZZZ
Before you can begin this quest line, you'll need to meet a couple of requirements, namely:
- Reach at least level 34 in Internot.
- Complete the story quest called “Light Interlude – Unexpected Guest.”
Once you've met these requirements, head to your Sixth Street video rental store, enter the office, and interact with the Video Archive. Then scroll to the right until you find Agent Bernice's story. Click on it, select the first chapter, and click “Forward.”

Battle order “Good News”
Immediately after the start of the mission, you will find yourself on the Bypass and enter into a dialogue with Bernice and Piper. Agree to help them complete the order. Then you will return to your video rental store. Chat with your sister/brother to receive a new order. Next, interact with the HDD system and select the appropriate mission.
The game will recommend taking fire characters, as all enemies will be vulnerable to the corresponding element, but you can add any pumped up heroes (except Electro). However, we just used the trial Bernice and Piper.
After the test starts, run forward and you will immediately encounter Charged Thanatos. Follow this enemy and start a battle with a group of enemies, including a mini-boss. We recommend that you read our guide on using Bernice to know how to play her.
In short, you first need to apply the Scorch mark to enemies (the easiest way to do this is to hold down your basic attack to immediately gain some energy), then switch to the damage dealer (in this case, Piper) and start attacking enemies with the mark to apply Char and deal additional damage to them. If you're lucky, they will also be applied Burn.
When Thanatos reaches about 75% health, he will disappear. Finish off the regular mobs and start climbing up the road, breaking the boxes along the way. Be careful, as some of the boxes hide explosive spiders.
Then get on the lift and fight new enemies, including a mini-boss. Now you have to kill him to the end. After dealing with them, go to the warehouse and destroy the last group of Ethereals. They shouldn't cause you any problems.
Next, watch the epic video with Bernice and talk to Grandma Sue. She will give the girl-lighter a lottery ticket. This will complete the task.
Find Bernice and Piper on Sixth Street
After talking to your sister/brother, leave the video store and head towards the supermarket. There you will find the blondes you need – chat with them, and then return to your store and watch the lottery. In the end, it turns out that the ticket is a winner. Bernice received a jackpot of 3 million denny, which she will decide to split between the proxy and Piper. This concludes the first part of the story.
Fortune's Smile II
Battle Order “Luck for Three”
Select the second part of the chain and click the “Forward” button, then immediately talk to Bernice. You will learn that Piper has disappeared somewhere. Talk to your sister/brother to receive a new order. Then interact with the HDD system and select the appropriate mission.
The game will recommend taking fire and/or physical characters, since all enemies will be vulnerable to the corresponding elements, but you can add any pumped up heroes (except Ice). However, we just used trial Bernice and Piper.
After the start of the trial, run forward and deal with the first group of bandits, playing only as Bernice. After finishing them, go to Piper, who will be standing behind the laser grid, and interact with the lever hidden behind the boxes on the left. After freeing your friend, talk to her.
Now run up the path and fight the next batch of bandits. Next, climb even higher and deal with the elite enemy Wanted Thug. Note that this enemy constantly attacks and is extremely mobile, so try to dodge more often. First, put Burn with Bernice, and then hit him with Piper.
After destroying all the enemies, talk to the bandits. This will complete the order. Then you will return to Sixth Street and receive a prize from the lottery. However, due to taxes, you will only be given 300,000 denni instead of a million. However, this is also a very significant amount, which will be extremely useful to you in the future. Now just chat with your sister/brother to complete the second part of Bernice's story.

Battle order “Deja Vu”
Select the third part of the chain and click the “Forward” button, then immediately talk to Bernice and Piper. You will learn that money did not bring happiness to either the proxy or Piper. The girl-lighter will offer to complete a small order to unwind. Then interact with the HDD system in the van and select the appropriate mission.

Once you start the challenge, run forward and engage in combat with the rank-and-file Ethereals. Once you've dealt with them, go upstairs and fight the Charged Thanatos. Get his health bar down to 70-75% and he'll disappear again. Once you've dealt with the rank-and-file opponents, press the lever, then go through the room with the boxes and stand on the lift.
Now you will need to finish off the mini-boss. After getting up, go to the old man, who will also give you a lottery ticket as a reward. This will complete the order.
Talk to Bernice and Piper again, then read the newspaper on the table. You can choose any answers, as they do not affect anything. The lottery ticket will be expired anyway. Tell the girls the good news and the bad news.
At the end, return to the video store and chat with your sister/brother. You will also meet Nicole, who will return your money. It was she who you previously borrowed your prize from.
