During your visit to the Lakeview Hotel in Silent Hill 2 Remake, you will find a locked suitcase in room 205, which you will need to determine a special code to open. This can be done after collecting items such as a bolt cutter, a red light bulb, a can opener, and a can of paint. In this guide, we will tell you how to get these things and get the password you need.
How to open the suitcase in the Lakeview Hotel in Silent Hill 2
The corresponding case is in room 205, which can only be accessed after solving the puzzle with the bookshelf in the reading room. Doing so will open a secret passage. Enter it, then turn right into the room with the bed, and on the mattress you will find a suitcase.
There are three photographs lying around next to it: two on the bed and one on the dresser, next to the black telephone. They indicate the places you need to visit to determine the correct password for the suitcase. However, doing this is not at all necessary – if you already know the code, you can simply enter it into the suitcase. So if you don't want to bother looking for the above items, just scroll down this page, where all the necessary combinations for different difficulty levels are indicated.
Note: However, you will still have to do some of these actions to progress through the story.
Where to find bolt cutters
The first thing you need to do is get to the 3rd floor of the hotel. To do this, go back to the lobby on the 2nd level through the wardrobe, then go out onto the balcony and go to the first aid room to the west. Exit it and use the stairs leading up. The entire route is shown on the map below.
When you go up upstairs, go to the conference room located in the northwest corner of the location, through the half-open double doors. Then go to the fireplace and tear off the paper from it to get Key to room 107.
Now go to the utility room, which is located southeast of the conference room and find the Bolt Cutter on the shelf there – take it.
Where to find a can opener
Next, return to the 2nd floor via any of the stairs and enter room 217. Go out onto the balcony and turn the camera down a little to find a red book lying on a cracked window. You will need to shoot this window so that the book falls down.
Go down to the very 1st level along the main stairs and go to the Lake Shore restaurant, where you have already been before. Here on the box you will find a red book, which fell down after shooting at the glass. Inside it you will find a Can Opener.
Where to find light bulb
Next, go outside from the main exit, run forward a little and turn right to the iron gate. Interact with it and use the bolt cutters to cut the chains. Run forward along the path and click on the fountain statue to take the Light Bulb from it.
Where to find the key to the fireplace in the hotel
Then go to apartment 107, opening the door with the key found earlier. Once inside, go through the open doors to find yourself in a secret part of the hotel garden.
Turn right, then left and run forward. Then turn left and go to the gazebo ahead, going around the pond and dealing with a couple of monsters along the way. Inside the gazebo, on a yellow basket, you will find the Fireplace Key.
Where to find a can of paint
Next, go up to the 3rd floor again, go to the conference room and open the fireplace with the key you found earlier. Inside you will find a figurine of Cinderella(needed for the music box puzzle), which will trigger a boss fight. Once you've dealt with him, push the cabinet to the right out of the area that opens up, break the wall, and go through the hole into room 317.
Go to the balcony and go to the apartment number 318. Here, on the table next to the sofa, you will find a Can of Paint. Take it and add it to your inventory. You will have all the things you need to complete the suitcase puzzle.
How to get the red light bulb
Go to inventory, select the paint can and click the “Combine” button, and then add a can opener to the second slot to open the jar. Now select it again, and insert a light bulb into the second cell to get a red lamp.
How to determine the code for a suitcase using a dressing table
Now return to room 205, where the suitcase is, and interact with the dressing table (table with a mirror) to screw the red bulb into it. As a result, you will find an inscription on the mirror, which is the password for the suitcase. This code depends on the difficulty level you have chosen:
- Low: DARK WISH
- Standard: DEED DONE
- High: LOVE LUST
Then click on the suitcase and enter one of the above inscriptions. After opening the case, you will find in it the Key to the service elevator, which opens the elevator located on the 2nd floor of the hotel in the western part of the location.
