In Zenless Zone Zero, the Arpeggio Secret is the main event of patch 1.3. In it, you will explore the mysterious Arpeggio Georift and find out the truth about the events that took place in it.
In this guide, we will tell you all the details about the event, give tips on passing the observation levels and tell you how to get all the rewards, including the Knight, polychromes and other resources.
How to start the “Arpeggio Mystery” event in Zenless Zone Zero
The event began on November 6, along with the release of version 1.3, and will end on December 17 at 03:59 server time. After that, it will be transferred to “Reed's Chronicles”.
To gain access to the event, you must fulfill certain conditions:
- Reach Internot level 34;
- Complete the “Proficiency Test: Periphery” in the Zero Cave — the very first test in this mode.
After that, the “Arpeggio's Secret: Special Investigation” quest should appear in your journal. If this does not happen, try logging out and logging back in after 20-30 minutes.
Special Investigation
Ask Roland What Happened
Go to Scott Post and talk to Roland. He will tell you that the Armed Forces have once again begun investigating the Arpeggio Geofracture and they need your help.
Talk to the Investigation Leader
Exit the building – you will find Soldier 11 and her Banbu squad nearby. The girl will say that your first target will be the employees at the surface of the geo-rift – you need to deliver supplies to them.
Enter the Arpeggio Geo-rift and explore it
Use the computer at Scott's Post to open the Arpeggio's Secret menu.
How to Complete the Secret of Arpeggio
You will have to explore the Arpeggio geofracture, moving to its very bottom. There are 5 observation levels in total, with several tiers in each.
You will find yourself on a field with monitors. Your avatar will show your HP and attack power. You will be able to see the same indicators on your enemies.
Battles
Battles are automatic: you deal a blow corresponding to your attack power. If the enemy remains alive, he attacks back.
In addition to regular enemies and bosses with increased HP and attack power, you can encounter enemies with bombs – after defeating them, a bomb remains that explodes after a few turns.
You can fight without spending your HP and the health of your allies. Bombs can be a useful aid in battles – plant them near the enemy and move away for a few turns so that the bomb explodes and deals damage. This can be especially useful when you have low HP and you risk dying from an enemy attack.
Experience
Defeating an enemy brings you experience.
After accumulating 100 experience points, you open up new strategies for gathering a squad. They increase your stats and give various buffs.
Experience points can be accumulated, and simply by finding them in the cavern – they are marked with yellow plugins.
Resonators and Amplifications
By opening supply boxes, finding secret passages, destroying Ethereal Crystals, and defeating enemies, you can find Resonators – they come in B, A, or S ranks and provide various buffs or help in exploring an area.
Red plugins provide a bonus to attack power.
As in the regular Zero Cave, you can find cells with HP replenishment, which will increase your health level, and sherlings.
Walls, Doors, and Obstacles
When exploring the gap, you may come across impassable obstacles. The most accessible way to destroy them is to plant a bomb nearby. You can also destroy walls by obtaining the appropriate resonator or the Foreman.
Locked doors can be opened with keys – they are given for defeating certain enemies, and can also be found during exploration of the area.
We recommend exploring all available cells, even empty ones – there is a high probability that you will find a secret passage with additional rewards behind the wall.
Scarlet Crystal Threads and the Tech Tree
As you explore, you will also find Scarlet Crystal Threads – a special matter used to develop the Tech Tree.
In the tech tree menu, you can purchase various buffs (nodes) for each level. After spending the scarlet crystal threads, you can reset the selected node and select a new one.
Companions and Clearing Points
For each enemy you defeat, you receive 1 Clearing Point. They do not reset and are saved between runs.
On certain tiers, you can spend Clearing Points and select agents to explore together. Each of them has unique HP and attack power, as well as special properties in battles.
Initially, you can only take one ally with you, however, after gaining 50 points cleanup, you can use a special device and increase the agent limit to 2.
If an agent walks in front of you, they will attack enemies they encounter. Use this when you are low on HP and are at risk of losing. When an ally's HP drops to zero, they will stop fighting but will continue to follow you. By replenishing your HP, you will also increase your companion's HP.
In addition to agents, you can choose Banba as a companion in random events. Not all of them can fight, but they can provide unique abilities and buffs.
Banbu Merchants
Sometimes you will encounter Banbu Merchants. They have a certain set of goods – to buy you just need to touch the desired item.
With enough attack power, you can try to rob a merchant and get all the goods for free.
Automatic robots
Sometimes you can encounter or create an automatic robot with a plugin. After receiving sherlings, HP or keys from you, the robot will have a certain probability of creating something new: plugins, HP cells or other events.
Password in the Secret of Arpeggio
On some tiers, you can find entries with letters. Put them together to form a single word, and you will get the password CHESSBOARD.
This password can be used at tier 99, level 4.
You will find yourself on a field with a huge number of boxes. Open some of them so that the remaining boxes form the desired word, as in the screenshots below. After that, you will see a small Easter egg with gratitude from the developers.
Awards
For fully exploring the first level, you will receive a Knight. Completing each subsequent level will bring you one Knight Core.
For exploring and fulfilling certain conditions at each stage, you will also receive additional rewards in the form of Polychromes, Chips, Expert Journals, and Denny.
