During the Battle of Weisshaupt in Dragon Age: The Veilguard, you will have another choice, leading to one or another outcome of events. In a conversation with the First Guardian, you will have to decide on the following: knock him out or try to reason with him.
What choice to make regarding the First Guardian, and what consequences each of them will lead to, we will tell you in our guide.
Hit the First Guardian or reason with him
You will have access to this choice during the main quest “Siege Weisshaupt”. Once you reach the detachment of Grey Wardens, you will have a conversation with their leader, who is going to send everyone to certain death.
Knock Out the First Guardian
To strike the First Guardian and take full command, choose the “Talk is useless”” option. After that, Rook will knock out the guard and give his own order. At this point, you will gain a sworn enemy in the person of the First Guardian.
In this case, you will receive full approval from all your companions, except Bellara and Emmrika.
At the end of the quest“The Siege of Weisshaupt”,the First Guardian will appear before the final battle and will fall at the hands of Ghilan'nain.
During Davrin's quest “Forgotten and Corrupted”, the First Guardian will appear in the likeness of the corrupted Weisshaupt. After talking to the maddened former Guardian, Davrin will kill him.
Bring the First Guardian to Reason
To peacefully end the dialogue with the Guardian, use the option“Let's reason sensibly”. After a short conversation, you will find an unexpected ally in him.
This time, you will only receive high approval from Bellara, Emmrik and Harding, while others will condemn your choice.
The First Guardian will also suffer from Ghilan'nain and will later appear on Davrin's quest, but he will no longer be insane. Also, thanks to the fact that you brought him to his senses in Weisshaupt, he will share with you important information for completing the quest. But, unfortunately, even in this option there will be no way to save him.
Any of the proposed choices will not affect main ending of the game. However, the best choice is to knock out the Guardian, as you will receive approval from five of your allies. However, when romancing Bellara or Emmrik, you will have to reason with the Guardian to get full approval from these characters.
