In the final chapter of Dragon Age: The Veilguard, when completing the quest «The Last Gambit», you will be forced to independently draw up a plan for the battle with Elgar'nan. The outcome of the entire game will depend on the effectiveness of your choices.
We will tell you how to choose the right allies in our guide.
All choices before the final battle in Dragon Age The Veilguard
After defeating Ghilan'nain, the heroes will gather at the table to develop a strategy for the upcoming battle. To defeat the last elven god Elgar'nan, you need to get into the city, find Solas and capture the lyrium dagger.
At the beginning of the quest “The Last Gambit”, you will have to choose which companion will go on a particular mission. Before each choice, you will be given a hint about which skills of your companions are best suited for the task. You should also pay attention to the power of the factions associated with the quests, as well as whether your characters have become Veilguard Legends or not.
Helping the Veil Walkers
The first choice you'll have to make is who to send to help the Veil Striders destroy the Venatori crystals and free the entrance to the city. The Striders will need companions who are well versed in magical enchantments or able to protect others in combat.
The best options would be Emmrik or Harding(if she survived the previous mission).
To increase your chances of winning, it is advisable for your chosen companion to be a Veilguard Legend. A high approval level of the Veil Walkers (at least 3 stars) also increases your chance of success.
Assistance to the Antivan Ravens and Lords of Fortune
Antivan Ravens and Lords of Fortune will fight the Venatori battlemage. In order to also free the entrance to the city, these factions will need a companion who has experience fighting mages or someone who can attack from behind.
Lucanis is perfect for this quest. However, if you want him to remain on Rook's team during the final mission, you can also chooseTaash.
To successfully complete this quest, you must have a high approval level with the Lords of Fortune and the Antivan Ravens. Also, the chosen hero must be a Veilguard Legend. Otherwise, the risk of a bad outcome will increase.
If you completed the Nev Gallus quest chain and defeated the Venatori leader Eliya, according to the quest “The Case of the Returned Cultist”, then you will have to fight a regular battlemage Venatori.
Helping the Grey Wardens and Sorrow's Watch
To help the Grey Wardens and Sorrowwatch in the fight against the Juggernaut, you need to choose the strongest ally, with experience fighting large enemies or creatures.
For this mission, Davrin is a great choice. However, if Davrin is no longer in your party, Emmrik might be a good alternative if you chose Harding as your first choice.
As with the other choices, to increase the chance of a successful outcome of the battle, you should send a character who has become a Veilguard Legend. At the same time, the power of the Warden and Watch factions should also be high.
The Juggernaut may differ depending on whether you have completed Emmrik's quest chain. If you managed to defeat the necromancer Hezenkoss in the House of the Dead quest, then instead of her huge bone golem, you will have to fight a different one.
Choose Less Preferred Companions
The companions you choose to send to help the various factions will not directly participate in the final battle with you.
Keep in mind that only unused characters will remain in your party. Try to send companions with a lower level or those you do not want to take with you.
