The Riddle of the Sky and Sea in Genshin Impact is the third mission of the quest chain “Journey to the Mysterious Island”, which is part of the Chronicles of the Metzli Tribe, “Where the Springs Return”. How to Start
The quest should appear in your journal immediately after completing the previous mission, “Koholasaur Encounter.” If it doesn't, try logging out and logging back in 20-30 minutes later.
Go to the location that Mualani discovered through her analysis
Head southeast from the Archon Statue in the waters of Ameyalco. Viramdra will suggest that the stone platform where you find yourself can contain Dragon Spirit Doors, or Phlogiston Nodes – ancient devices that will help you find the mysterious island.
Activate the First Phlogiston Node
Go to the island south of your location. If you have opened a teleport there in advance, you can immediately move to it.
You can also possess the Koholasaurus Soul Beacon to reach the island faster.
Climb to the top of the hill. You will find the first node, but it is too high.
Break the mountain of rocks next to the stone pillar.
Activate the blue mechanism by attacking it.
Follow the path that opens and touch the node at the top.
Activate the Second Phlogiston Node
From the first node, fly southwest. Defeat a couple of Hilichurls and touch the second node.
Complete the Trial of the Spiritual Path
After gaining control of Mualani, use her Elemental Skill.
Move along the spiritual paths, jumping over obstacles. When the path ends, use the jump and turn right to move to the next path.
When a new path appears, jump to the left.
Use the Phlogiston Node to change routes
As the Traveler, go up to the next Phlogiston Node and touch it.
The path you will find yourself on is a closed circle, so at the right moment, jump to the path on the left.
After passing several obstacles, turn left again.
Use the Phlogiston Node Again to Change Routes
Touch the third node as the Traveler.
Once you find yourself on the new path, jump to the right road as quickly as possible. Overcome a couple more obstacles and reach the end.
Explore the Whirlpool with Mualani
Spiritual paths and map clues will indicate that you can reach the mysterious island by entering a huge whirlpool. Viramdra will decide that this is dangerous – to prove otherwise, head to the northern edge of the island.
While you are discussing the dangers, Viramdra will decide to test his own theory, and the water will carry it away.
Save Viramdra
You have to swim to the scientist in one and a half minutes. Activate Mualani's E-Shka and follow the phlogiston seeds, jumping over obstacles and avoiding whirlpools.
There will be blue circles in front of some obstacles – stand on them to jump higher and collect seeds.
Help Mualani set up camp
Once Viramdra is saved, the whirlpools will disappear. Your guide will suggest setting up camp and resting. Approach Mualani and the scientists and set up a tent.
Have a get-together by the fire and talk about the purpose of your journey. This will complete the quest.
