In Genshin Impact, “Today is Fishing Day!” is a hidden world quest in Natlan, part of the “In the Footsteps of the Dragon's Chosen” quest chain. On the coast south of Tetikpak Peak, there is a lovely pier that is perfect for fishing, which is what Paimon suggests. In this walkthrough, we will tell you how to treat your Saurian companion with fresh fish, clean the waters, catch the escaped catch and get the achievement “…And thanks for the fish!”.
All missions from the “In the Footsteps of the Dragon's Chosen” chain will not be available if you do not complete the quest “Lost Children of the Forest”. But they are not connected with other assignments (or even with each other).
How to start and complete the quest “Today is Fish Day!”
Go to the pier on the south side of Mount Coatepec (the exact location is indicated in the first screenshot above): when approaching the area, our Saurian companion will appear, staring at something in the water.
The shallow beach turns out to be a wonderful place for fishing, so the group decides to go fishing and treat the dragon with a fresh catch.
Cleanse the nearby waters
Before you start fishing, you need to clean the beach of trash and unnecessary items: all wooden boxes are easily destroyed remotely (with a regular bow shot), and you will have to swim to the lifebuoy to disassemble it. A cryo slime will appear under one of the boxes – get rid of it as well.

Paimon makes several attempts to catch something, but the first successful catch turns out to be a note in a bottle. The glass contains several sheets of paper with correspondence between two friends, which probably lasted for more than one year. The heroes decide to throw it back into the water.
Catch the fish that swam away
After waiting a little longer, Paimon finally manages to catch the fish, but it gets off the hook at the last moment. After regaining control of the character, take on the form of an aquatic Saurian (there will be a transformation symbol on the right side of the pier) and dive into the water. If you have Mualani, you can use her Night Spirit elemental skill to catch her. Swim up to the fugitive, then quickly press “Gotcha!“.
After a short dialogue in which the company celebrates a successful catch, the mission will come to an end. In addition to the reward of 20 Primogems, 150 Adventure XP and 25 thousand Mora, we will be given a guaranteed achievement “…And thanks for the fish!” (+5 Primogems).
