Traveler (Pyro) in Genshin Impact: A Guide to the Best Builds

In Genshin Impact, Traveler (Pyro) is a free 5-star character who is a master of one-handed sword. In a party, he is capable of playing the role of a primary or secondary damage dealer with a focus on support. In this guide, you will learn how to change the element of the main character to Pyro, as well as about his best builds, weapons, artifacts and commands.

Main features of the Traveler (Pyro)

How to get the Traveler (Pyro)

If you want to take the Pyro element for the main character, it will not be enough to just go to Natlan and interact with the statue of the seven Archons there. You will have to completely complete the storyline of the Pyro Kingdom, since you will be able to unlock the corresponding element only after completing the fifth chapter of the fifth volume, called “Burning Ode of Resurrection”.

Traveler (Pyro) in Genshin Impact: a guide to the best builds

Note that after completing the quest, you will most likely be able to use any Pyro Archon statue to change the hero's element to fire. By the way, the interactive map of Natlan shows the coordinates of other similar objects. Let's add that if you want to return the Hydro, Dendro, Geo, Electro, Anemo elements, then you only need to return to Fontaine, Sumeru, Liyue, Inazuma or Mondstadt respectively, and then resonate with the statues of the seven Archons there. By the way, we've covered their best builds in a separate guide.

Traveler (Pyro) Stat Progression

The table below shows how a character's basic stats change as they level up.

< /table>

The default critical damage and critical hit chance are 50% and 5% respectively.

Traveler's Abilities (Pyro)

When performing a normal attack “Foreign Flame”, the hero performs up to 5 simple strikes with the blade, and when charged, he makes two quick swings with the sword, spending stamina. In the case of an air attack, he lands on the ground, hitting all enemies in his path and causing damage in the area.

Explanation: Everything is pretty standard here. For a sub-DD/support they will be practically useless, but the main-DD will use them quite often. All thanks to C6, which gives Pyro infusion to basic attacks and increases their critical damage.

After using the elemental skill “Blade of Flowing Flame”, the Traveler takes control of the raging flame. Depending on the way you press it, the effect will change.

When quickly pressed, the hero gains 42 Night Spirit points, enters the Night Spirit Blessing state, and summons a Blazing Threshold that follows the active character. When approaching enemies, it begins to periodically deal fire damage to them with the Night Spirit property, proportional to the Traveler's attack power.

When pressed for a long time, the hero deals Pyro damage in an area to nearby enemies, and also gains 42 Night Spirit points, enters the state of Blessing of the Night Spirit, and summons the Incinerating Threshold, following the active character. When the active character, who is in the Incinerating Threshold, deals damage to enemies, the Incinerating Threshold performs a joint attack that deals Pyro damage with the Night Spirit characteristic, proportional to the Traveler's attack power. This effect can occur once every 3 seconds.

The Night Spirit Blessing state constantly consumes Night Spirit points and can last up to 12 seconds. When the ND points are depleted or the skill is reactivated, the state ends and the Blazing or Incinerating Threshold disappears. There can only be one Blazing or Incinerating Threshold on the field at a time.

Explanation: Will appear a little later.

Using the elemental explosion “Plainsburner”allows you to deal area damage to enemies in front of Pyro with the Night Spirit property. For the next 4 seconds, the Traveler restores 7 points of Night Spirit every second.

Explanation: Deals relatively good fire damage to enemies (at level 10 the multiplier is 769%), so it is highly desirable for them to close the reaction, and it is best if it turns out to be Steam or Melt.

However, the main purpose of the ult is to get an additional 28 points of Night Spirit, which will allow you to extend the action of the E-shka, and, consequently, its Blazing or Incinerating threshold. For this reason, you should activate the explosion of the elements immediately after using the skill. This may be difficult to do due to the not very cheap ultimate (70 units), so we advise you to pay more attention to the energy recovery characteristic.

It is also impossible not to mention the extremely useful passive talents of the GG (Pyro). The first of them is called “True Flame of Burning” and increases the radius of damage of the Blazing and Incinerating Threshold after hitting an enemy, when the Traveler has over 20 points of Night Spirit.

Explanation: Makes Pyro application much easier, since you won't have to get too close to enemies. If you use only E, the duration of this passive will be about 4 seconds, and with the activation of the ult – 10 seconds. This is another reason to definitely include Elemental Burst in your rotation.

Second – Unburned Embers– Restores 5 energy to the hero when the active character, who is in the Blazing or Incinerating Threshold, triggers the Burn, Steam, Melt, Bloom, Overload, Crystal or Disperse reactions on the enemy. This effect occurs once every 12 seconds. If team members activate the Night Spirit's Flash, the Traveler will restore another 4 energy.

Explanation: This passive simplifies the energy gain for using the Elemental Burst on CD. Even if there is only one Traveler in the squad, you will be able to restore 9 energy per rotation. If there are 3 or more Natlanians in the team, you will be able to receive 13 energy, since the flash cooldown will be 9 seconds instead of 18.

Traveler's Constellations (Pyro)

Unlike other heroes, the Traveler's (Pyro) constellations are not unlocked by the character's luck, but by using the Memory of Eternal Flame. It is not yet known exactly how they are obtained, but most likely you will receive them at the end of the story quest.

The table below provides a list of all the constellations with their descriptions and benefits for the character.

LevelBase HPBase AttackBase DefenseAttack Bonus
191218570%
20234246147  0%
404529 88284    6%

80963818860518%
901087521268324%
NameDescriptionBenefit
Sparkling Fire of the StarsWhen the Blazing or Incinerating Threshold is active, the active hero's damage increases by 6%. If the character is in the Blessing of the Night Spirit state, his damage increases by another 9%.The 6% increase is practically nothing, but 15% is more or less significant, but to get it, the damager must be from Natlan. Note that Pyro GG will receive the full bonus under the influence of E-shka.
Everlasting CandleFor 12 seconds after using E, after a team member causes a Steam, Burn, Overload, Melt, Bloom, Crystal, or Disperse reaction on an enemy, the Traveler gains 14 Night Spirit. Each time an elemental skill is activated in this way, up to 28 Night Spirit can be restored. This constellation essentially eliminates the need to use the ult every rotation when there is a lack of energy, providing the GG with the necessary amount of ND points. However, we still advise you to try to use the Elemental Burst on CD, as it can deal good damage and provide other bonuses.
Spread Signal FireThe skill level increases by three. Maximum level: 15.Brings average benefit.
Raging ConflagrationAfter using the ult, gives a 20% bonus to Pyro damage to the Traveler for 9 seconds.Another reason to add the Elemental Burst to your rotation. This constellation will increase the hero's damage both as a sub-DD and as a main-DD.
Immortal FireUltimate level increases by three. Maximum level: 15.Brings average benefit.
Eternal Sacred FlameNormal, charged, and falling attacks of the hero while in Night Spirit Blessing mode begin to deal Pyro damage with the Night Spirit property, which cannot be canceled by other infusions. In addition, critical damage of such attacks increases by 40%.It is thanks to this constellation that Pyro GG can be turned into the main damage dealer.

How to play as the Traveler (Pyro)

Information will appear later…

Advantages and disadvantages of the Traveler (Pyro)

Using his unique abilities, the main character can provide significant support to his allies and at the same time cause considerable damage. His advantages also include:

  • A versatile character that can be assembled as both a primary and secondary damage dealer with an emphasis on support.
  • Great for dealing Pyro damage and off-field applications with his elemental skill.
  • Can be used in almost any squad aimed at creating Pyro reactions, as a sub-DD.
  • High-level constellations increase the effectiveness of the Traveler as a primary damage dealer. At the same time, any player can open them completely free of charge.
  • With his skills and attacks, he can almost constantly apply the Pyro status (C6), making it easier to create reactions.
  • He can deal considerable damage with his elemental explosion, especially if he closes the Steam or Melt reaction with it.
  • An easy-to-control and level character that is great for beginners.

Traveler (Pyro) in Genshin Impact: a guide to the best builds

However, it is not without its drawbacks, some of which follow directly from its advantages:

  • Relatively low base attack power, which makes it difficult to use as a full-fledged damage dealer.
  • Elemental Explosion is relatively expensive (70 units), which is why you will need to pay special attention to energy recovery, since it is advisable to use the ult on CD.
  • Best paired with Natlan characters, as the Traveler can give them an additional damage bonus (C1) and gain more energy from them (second passive). This somewhat reduces the possibilities for choosing an optimal team.
  • Elemental skill has a relatively small range even with the passive working, which can make it difficult to deal Pyro damage and pocket applications.

Best Builds for Traveler (Pyro)

Primary Damage Dealer

Best Weapon

When choosing one-handed swords, you should prioritize those that can increase critical damage, critical hit chance, attack power, and/or elemental damage. The table below shows the most interesting options.

Name and rarityStats (level 1-90)Passive ability

Traveler (Pyro) in Genshin Impact: a guide to the best builds

Mist Cutter (5 stars)

Critical Damage: 9.6~44.1%

Base Attack: 48~674

Grants a bonus to elemental damage of 12~24 percent. When dealing elemental damage with normal attacks or elemental bursts, special seals are granted that provide up to an additional 56 percent bonus to elemental damage.

An excellent option for main DD, which gives him the critical damage he needs (you will get the critical chance in artifacts), and also increases elemental damage. You will definitely not have problems with activating the passive, since your basic attacks will deal Pyro damage (C6).

Traveler (Pyro) in Genshin Impact: a guide to the best builds

Haran Geppaku Futsu (5 stars)

Critical Hit Rate: 7.2~33.1%

Base Attack: 46~608

Increases damage bonus to all elements by 12~24 percent. When other team members activate elemental skills, the sword wielder gains 1st level of Spike Wave. The maximum number of levels that can be gained is 2. The effect occurs once every 0.3 seconds. If the hero uses his elemental ability, all Spike Waves are spent, and each level increases damage from normal attacks by 20~40 percent for 8 seconds.

A good alternative, with which you can significantly enhance the normal attacks of Pyro GG. Balancing crits will be much easier.

Traveler (Pyro) in Genshin Impact: a guide to the best builds

Light of Leaf Slash (5 stars)

Critical damage: 19.2~88.2%

Basic Attack: 44~542

Increases the chance of dealing critical damage by 4%. Normal attacks that deal elemental damage increase the damage of normal attacks and elemental skills by 120% of MS. After 28 activations of the effect or after 12 seconds, it will disappear. The bonus occurs once every 12 seconds.

It makes balancing crits much easier, as it increases both parameters and strengthens normal attacks and E-shka, which will be useful for both main DD and sub-DD. However, the multipliers will depend on the mastery of the element, so you will have to pay more attention to this parameter in the secondary stats.

Traveler (Pyro) in Genshin Impact: a guide to the best builds

Precious Pool (5 stars)

Critical Hit Chance: 9.6%~44.1%

Base Attack: 44-542

Increases the hero's health by 20%~40% and gives an attack bonus of 1.2%~2.4% of the hero's maximum health.

The Traveler's health buff is not very useful, but he will find the crits and attack power bonus useful. Overall, this sword will significantly increase the GG's personal damage.

Traveler (Pyro) in Genshin Impact: A Guide to the Best Builds

Black Sword (4 Stars)

Critical Hit Rate: 6~27.6%

Base Attack: 42~510

Increases damage from normal and charged attacks by 20%. When critically hitting with these attacks, health is restored equal to 60% of the attack rating. The effect occurs once every 5 seconds.

Increases crits and strengthens basic attacks, which will always be a joy for main DD, and the vampirism effect will allow you to depend less on shielders or healers and feel better in teams on Bloom.

Traveler (Pyro) in Genshin Impact: a guide to the best builds

Grand Finale of the Depths (4 stars)

Attack Power: 6~27.6%

Base Attack: 44~565

When using an elemental skill, ATK increases by 12~24% for 15 seconds. Plus, a Life Oath equal to 25% of the wearer's max HP is applied (can occur once every 10 seconds). After this mark is removed, the attack power increases by another 2.4~4.8% of the HP given (max 150~300 units) for 15 seconds. The Oath takes away the healing received by the hero.

A good free option for Pyro GG, which at the 5th Awakening significantly increases the attack power, and therefore the overall damage of the Traveler.

Traveler (Pyro) in Genshin Impact: a guide to the best builds

Calamity Eshu (4 stars)

Base attack: 44-565

Attack power: 6-27.6%

Increases damage from normal and charged attacks by 20-40%, and their critical hit chance by 8-16% if the character is protected by a shield.

A great free option that could be obtained during the main event of patch 5.2. With it, you can significantly increase the damage from your normal and charged attacks, but for this to happen, the team must have a shielder or Geo character.

Traveler (Pyro) in Genshin Impact: a guide to the best builds

Dragon Roar (4 stars)

Attack Power: 9%~41.3%

Base Attack: 42~510

Increases damage by 20-36% when fighting enemies affected by Electro or Pyro elements.

Another good blade that increases Pyro GG's overall damage by significantly increasing his attack power. The passive will be triggered regularly, since the hero has Pyro Infusion.

Traveler (Pyro) in Genshin Impact: a guide to the best builds

Amenoma Kageuchi (4 stars)

Attack Power: 12~55.1%

Base Attack: 41~454

After using an elemental skill, grants 1 Heritage Seed. The effect can occur once every 5 seconds. The seed lasts for half a minute. Up to three seeds can exist at a time. After using the ult, all seeds disappear, and after two seconds, the character restores 6 units of energy for each seed.

This free weapon can be obtained for completing the quest “Farmer's Treasure”. Significantly increases ATK, which positively affects damage from abilities. To get the required amount of energy, you need to use an elemental skill, and then immediately use the ult.

Traveler (Pyro) in Genshin Impact: a guide to the best builds

Dawnbringer (3 stars)

Critical Damage: 10.2%~46.9%

Base Attack: 39-401

Increases the chance of critical damage by 14%~28% when health is above 90%.

If you can maintain Pyro GG with maximum health and do not take characters that reduce the HP of allies (for example, Furina) into the team, then this sword with the 5th awakening can be a good option for the hero.

Best artifacts

We recommend choosing sets that can increase Pyro GG's attack power, critical damage, and critical hit chance, as well as enhance his normal and charged attacks. The table below shows the best options.

ArtifactsBonusesAdvantages

Traveler (Pyro) in Genshin Impact: a guide to the best builds

Obsidian Tome

2 pieces: Increases damage by 15% for the owner on the field, in the state of Night Spirit Blessing.

4 pieces: Increases the chance of dealing a critical hit by 40% for 6 seconds after the owner spends 1 point of Night Spirit. The effect can occur once per second.

The perfect kit for any Natlan damage dealer. Although the Traveler is not one, he can also enter the Night Spirit Blessing state and spend Night Spirit points, so all passives on him will work without problems. With it, you can easily balance your crits.

Traveler (Pyro) in Genshin Impact: a guide to the best builds

Twilight Court Hunter

2 parts: increases damage from normal and charged attacks by 15%.

4 pieces:  increases critical hit chance by 12% for five seconds when increasing or decreasing the character's current health. The bonus stacks up to three times.

On a team playing through Steam and including Furina, it will lag behind the previous set by about 5-6%. Otherwise, always take only the “Tome”.

Traveler (Pyro) in Genshin Impact: a guide to the best builds

Burning Scarlet Witch

2 pieces: increase Pyro damage by 15%.

4 pieces: increase damage from reactions Steam and Melt by 15%, and from Burning and Overload – by 40%. If an elemental skill is used, the effects of 2 pieces of the set increase by 50% for 10 seconds. The effect can be stacked up to three times.

If for some reason you don't have the opportunity to farm the “Tome” right now, but you have this set with good stats, you can take it as a temporary option.

As for the main characteristics of artifacts, take the hourglass for attack power, the cup (bowl) – for the Pyro damage bonus, and the crown (hat) – for crit. chance/crit. damage in a ratio of 1 to 2. The priority of choosing secondary parameters is as follows: crits, attack, energy recovery and elemental mastery.

If we talk about optimal hero attribute valuesthey look like this:

  • Attack Power: 2500+
  • Critical Hit Chance: 60%+
  • Critical Damage: 120%+

Secondary Damage Dealer/Support

Best Weapon

When choosing one-handed swords, you should prioritize those that can increase energy regeneration (for activating the ultimate on CD) or elemental mastery (for Overload, Burn, or Bloom commands), as well as provide useful passive bonuses to allies. The table below lists similar weapons.

Name and rarityStats (level 1-90)Passive ability

Traveler (Pyro) in Genshin Impact: a guide to the best builds

Oath of Freedom (5 stars)

Elemental Mastery: 43~198

Base Attack: 46-608

Increases damage dealt by 10 percent and accumulates Talismans of Inspiration even when the character is not on the battlefield. After collecting two Talismans, they disappear, increasing allies' normal and charged attack damage by 16 percent and attack power by 20 percent.

A great option for a support, allowing you to provide significant buffs to allies. At the same time, it can also increase the personal damage of the Pyro GG due to the increase in elemental mastery, so it is a good choice for reaction teams as well.

Traveler (Pyro) in Genshin Impact: a guide to the best builds

Ceremonial Sword (4 stars)

Energy recovery: 13.3%~61.3%

Base attack: 41-454

With a 40% chance, instantly restores the cooldown of an elemental skill when it deals damage. The effect occurs once every half a minute.

Gives the energy that the hero needs so much. In addition, it allows you to use the elemental skill more often, which again gives additional energy particles and Night Spirit points.

Pyro in Genshin Impact: Best Build Guide

Favonius Sword (4 Stars)

Energy Recovery: 13.3%~61.3%

Base Attack: 41-454

When dealing critical hits, there is a 60% chance to restore 6 units of energy. The effect occurs once every 12 seconds.

Provides even more energy than the previous weapon, and it will be enough even for the Traveler's allies, so they will also be able to use their elemental bursts without problems. So this is a good option for teams that lack energy.

Traveler (Pyro) in Genshin Impact: a guide to the best builds

Xiphos's Moonlight (4 stars)

Elemental Mastery: 36~165

Base Attack: 42-510

Every 10 seconds, increases the character's energy recovery by 0.035% for each point of their Elemental Mastery. The effect lasts for 12 seconds. Nearby allies receive 30% of this bonus. The buff stacks if other party members wield this weapon.

A great choice for reaction teams, as Pyro GG will be able to deal more damage and will have an easier time using his ult on cooldown due to the VE speedup. Plus, the sword will give bonuses to all allies.

Traveler (Pyro) in Genshin Impact: Guide to the Best Builds

Heavenly Sword (5 stars)

Energy recovery: 12%~55.1%

Base attack: 46~608

Increases critical hit chance by 4%~8%. The ult awakens the power of heaven, increasing movement and attack speed by 10%, and normal and charged attacks deal additional damage equal to 20%~40% of attack power when hitting. The duration of the buffs is 12 seconds.

Can give energy and increase crits, which will be useful for sub-DD, since he will be able to accurately use the ult on CD and deal increased damage with it. However, the second part of the passive will be useless.

Traveler (Pyro) in Genshin Impact: A Guide to the Best Builds

Corrupted Desire (4 Stars)

Energy Recovery: 10%~45.9%

Base Attack: 42-510

Increases elemental skill damage by 16%~32% and its critical strike chance by 6%~12%.

Provides energy and enhances the Traveler's elemental skill. Not a bad option for a support/sub-DD in the absence of other alternatives.

Traveler (Pyro) in Genshin Impact: a guide to the best builds

Steel Sting (4 stars)

Elemental Mastery: 36~165

Base Attack: 42-510

When dealing elemental damage, all damage is increased by 6 percent for 6 seconds. The effect occurs no more than once per second and stacks up to two times.

Another good option for reaction teams, increasing their damage.

Traveler (Pyro) in Genshin Impact: a guide to the best builds

Tokabo Shigure (4 stars)

Elemental Mastery: 36~165

Base Attack: 42~510

If you successfully hit mobs, one of them will get the “Cursed Umbrella” status for 10 seconds. It only appears once every 15 seconds. If the enemy affected by this effect dies, its cooldown is instantly refreshed. The character using this sword deals 16%~32% more damage to cursed enemies.

You can also give it to Traveler if he is used in a reaction team, as he will be able to deal more damage from them.

Traveler (Pyro) in Genshin Impact: a guide to the best builds

Flash in the Dark (4 stars)

Elemental Mastery: 12~55

Base Attack: 45~620

Increases the wearer's damage by 12-24%. After receiving damage, the effect disappears for 5 seconds.

It fills less MS than the previous option, but increases the overall damage. Overall, a good option for reaction teams.

Best Artifacts

We recommend choosing sets that can increase elemental mastery (for Overload, Burning, and Bloom squads) and energy recovery, as well as provide additional buffs for the team. The table below shows the best options.

ArtifactsBonusesAdvantages

Traveler (Pyro) in Genshin Impact: a guide to the best builds

Scroll of the Hero of the Burnt City

2 parts: When a team member uses Night Spirit's Flash, the bearer restores 6 units of energy.

4 pieces: After the wearer activates a reaction related to their element, all team members gain a 12% bonus to damage of the corresponding element related to reactions for 15 seconds. If the owner of the set, when activating the specified buff, is in the Blessing of the Night Spirit state, then all party members additionally gain a 28% bonus to elemental damage related to reactions for 20 seconds. This effect can occur even if the hero is not on the battlefield. Bonuses of the same-name artifact sets do not stack.

Obtained in the dungeon “Sanctuary of Myriad Spirits”. An ideal set for a support, which allows more frequent use of the ult and provides a huge bonus to damage to his allies. However, do not forget to close the reaction with the Traveler to activate the second part of the passive, that is, before using his E-ka and ult, it is desirable that the enemies already have an elemental status.

Traveler (Pyro) in Genshin Impact: a guide to the best builds

Ancient Nobility Ceremony

2 pieces: increases damage from elemental explosion by 20%.

4 pieces: when using the “ultimate”, the attack power of all team members increases by 20% for 12 seconds. The effect does not stack.

It is noticeably inferior to the previous version, but can be used as a temporary set, increasing the damage from the ult and giving an additional buff to allies.

Traveler (Pyro) in Genshin Impact: a guide to the best builds

Gilded Dreams

2 parts: increases elemental mastery by 80 units.

4 pieces: Increases attack power by 14% for each unit in the squad with the same eye of the god and elemental mastery by 50 points for each unit with a different element. The effect occurs once every 8 seconds and occurs even if the wearer of the set is not on the battlefield.

A good set if you use Pyro GG in a team with Overload, Burn or Bloom and you need to maximize his MS to increase reaction.

Traveler (Pyro) in Genshin Impact: a guide to the best builds

Flower of Lost Paradise

2 parts: increases elemental mastery by 80 units.

4 parts: damage from reactions such as Bloom, Vegetation and Budding increases by 40%. Plus, if these reactions are activated by the hero who wears this set, the effect will increase by 25%. The bonus can be stacked up to four times and manifest once per second, and each stack lasts ten seconds. The effect can occur even if the fighter wearing the set is not on the battlefield.

An alternative to the previous option, if you are gathering a squad specifically for Bloom.

As for the main characteristics of artifacts, then take the hourglass for energy recovery (or attack power, if there is already excess VE), the cup (bowl) – for the Pyro damage bonus, and the crown (hat) – for crit. chance/crit. damage in a ratio of 1 to 2. The priority of choosing secondary parameters is as follows: crits, elemental mastery, energy recovery and attack power%.

Note: For commands for Overload, Burning and Bloom, it is recommended to collect all artifacts in elemental mastery to increase damage from reactions.

If we talk about optimal hero attribute indicators, they look like this:

  • Attack power: 2500+
  • Energy Recovery: 140-200% (the final value depends on the presence of other Pyro characters in the party and their use of Favonius weapons).
  • Elemental Mastery: 600+ (for Overload, Burn or Bloom commands)
  • Critical Hit Chance/Crit Damage: 50%+/100%+

Best Commands for Traveler (Pyro)

As we noted above, Pyro GG is capable of playing the role of both the main and secondary damage dealer, and combines well with many characters, since he can deal Pyro damage with normal attacks and apply Pyro status from the pocket with the help of E-shka, and also hit hard with his ult.

With him, you can assemble a lot of teams that play from a variety of reactions: Melt, Steam, Burn, Bloom and Overload. At the same time, he will combine best with characters from Natlan, since he can give them an additional buff and get additional energy thanks to them. In the table below, we have shown the optimal squads.
