Weapons in The Forge (Forging): recipes for the best katana and sword

In The Forge (Forging)Weapons are an important part of the gameplay, since not only the combat effectiveness of your character depends on them, but also the opportunity to earn money, because manufactured equipment can always be sold. In this guide, we will list all the existing weapons in the game, indicate their basic characteristics, tell you how to forge them, and tell you about the best recipes for swords and katanas.

List of all weapons in The Forge

In total, there are 23 types of weapons in the game, which can be divided into seven main classes, which have their own advantages and disadvantages, namely:

  • Daggers – have low damage and damage radius, but have the highest attack speed.
  • Straight swords – have a slightly larger radius and damage than daggers, but are about one and a half times slower than them.
  • Katanas are a kind of golden mean, since these blades have approximately the same damage and attack speed as straight swords, but can boast a larger radius.
  • Large swords – deal increased damage, but at a rather low speed (almost half that of katanas).
  • Great Axes – deal more damage than previous weapons and are slightly faster. They have the same attack radius.
  • Colossal Swords – do the most damage in the game and have a significant blast radius, but are the slowest weapons.
  • Gloves – they have the same blast radius as daggers, but they do almost as much damage as straight swords and attack noticeably faster.

All types of weapons can be found in the table below. We've listed their base stats, drop chance, and selling price when using standard materials.

Let us add once again that the table shows exactly the basic parameters of the weapon, which can noticeably change for the better when using high-quality materials and ideally completing mini-games during forging. Plus, your race should be taken into account. For example, daggers are best for a goblin, and large or colossal swords are best for a Golem.

How to forge weapons in The Forge

Let us immediately note that we talked in detail about forging in a separate guide, where we looked at all the mini-games, the effect of ore on the result and increasing the chances of obtaining high-quality equipment. Here we will touch upon the creation of weapons. First of all, get the ore you need, and then go to any forge (the one located in the first world will do) and interact with the crucible to open the forging menu.

Then select the “Weapons” section and place three or four types of different ores you have in your inventory into the empty slots at the bottom. Note that the more different materials you add, the higher the likelihood of obtaining a weapon of a heavier class. The rarity of the ore used will affect the quality of the forged weapons.

To complete the forging process, you will need to complete three mini-games: blowing bellows to smelt ore, pouring liquid metal into a mold and giving it the desired shape with a hammer blow. Again, we covered all of these tests in detail in our forging guide, so we encourage you to check it out.

After completing all mini-games, you will see the characteristics of the forged weapon, which will then be added to your inventory. Next, you have to decide whether to sell it for money or improve it with runes and essences for personal use.

General tips for forging high-quality weapons

At first glance, it may seem that there is nothing complicated in making weapons, but in reality, the quality of the final equipment is influenced by a considerable number of factors. Therefore, we decided to list a few tips and tricks that will allow you to craft more powerful weapons in the game without wasting time trying again:

  • Try to use ore of a high rarity level, at least epic and legendary, – this will significantly increase your chances of getting weapons with increased parameters.
  • Do not combine ore of low and high rarity (for example, common and legendary), as the probability of getting a good copy will immediately decrease sharply.
  • Try to put as much ore as possible if you want to get heavier weapons, such as large swords and axes, as well as colossal swords.
  • Try not to overdo the amount of ore if you want to increase your chances of getting light and medium weapons with a high attack speed, such as daggers, straight swords, gloves and katanas.

How to create the best weapons

Choosing the best weapons is not as clear-cut as it might seem at first glance. Yes, in terms of pure damage, Colossal Swords have no competitors, since when using the rarest ore from the Forgotten Kingdom, you can easily reach 200+ units of base damage.

Weapons in The Forge (Forging): recipes for the best katana and sword

However, high base damage is not all that needs to be taken into account when selecting weapons. Attack speed and additional properties are also important. Plus, it is important to look at ore consumption. Yes, you can spend, for example, 30-50 pieces of Darkryte and Demonite to craft some Dragon Slayer, but instead you can take 6 units of ore and just make it into Chaos (straight sword), the total DPS (damage per second) of which will be even greater than that of a colossal sword.

However, do not forget that getting the desired weapon in the game is not guaranteed. That is, when using 6 specified ores, your chance of making a straight sword will be 86%, but with a 14% chance you may get a regular dagger instead. Plus, Chaos itself has a 1 in 64 chance of dropping, making it the rarest sword in the game.

What Ore Should You Use

Crafting the best weapons, as you might expect, depends on the ore you use. This is because rarer materials have a higher multiplier, which affects the damage of crafted weapons. For example, Darkwright has a multiplier of 6.3x, but the chance of its drop is 1 in 6655. So we advise you to drink luck potions, use the “Miner’s Shard” rune, open the “Loyal Player” skill and use certain pickaxes when mining this ore.

It should also be remembered that some ores have certain properties. For example, to give a weapon explosive damage you will need Magmaite, and to increase the overall damage you can use Eye Ore. The latter is noticeably easier to find, but it imposes a very unpleasant debuff that reduces the character's maximum health. You can find all the effects in our separate guide.

Recipes for the best weapons in The Forge

Of course, you can only get the most powerful weapons in the endgame, when you have access to the rarest materials, but we understand that you want to get high-quality weapons as early as possible, so we also showed several recipes for the first half of the game.

The best weapons in the midgame

If you have already managed to get to the Forgotten Realm, then you will have the opportunity to make several good weapon options. Their recipes are presented in the table below.

  • 2x Rivalite
  • 1x Eye Ore

Best endgame weapon

As we noted above, in terms of DPS one of the best weapons is Chaos (straight sword), so we recommend that you use a recipe using mythic ore. If you get the divine ore (Galaxite), which drops with a chance of 1 in 1,000,000, you can create the most powerful great or colossal sword. The table below shows the corresponding recipes.

Weapon typeCrafting recipeApproximate parameters
Straight swords
  • 4x Darkwright
  • 2x Magmite
  • Base damage: 114.4 units
  • Deals 50% burst damage to an area with a 35% chance
Great swords
  • 10x Galaxite
  • 5x Magmite
  • 5x Fireright
  • 5x Darkright
  • Base damage: 244.4 units
  • Deals 27.5% burst damage in an area with 19.25% chance
  • Deals 11% burning damage with a 16.5% chance
Colossal Swords
  • 10x Galaxite
  • 10x Magmite
  • 10x Fireright
  • 10x Darkright
  • Base damage: 327.6 units
  • Deals 38.75% burst damage to an area with a 27% chance
  • Deals 15.5% burning damage with a 23.3% chance

Best katanas

When considering weapon classes, we have already noted that katanas are a kind of golden mean – they deal more damage than daggers, gloves and most straight swords, but at the same time they have almost the same attack speed, and their damage radius is even higher.

As a result, a katana can be an ideal blank for creating better weapons when using rare ore. For example, you can aim for burst damage by spending more Magmaite, or increase your overall damage by taking more Mythic materials. The table below shows the corresponding recipes.

Weapon typeCrafting recipeApproximate parameters
Katana
  • 5x Magmaite
  • 3x Eye Ore
  • 3x Firewright
  • 2x Darkwright
  • Base damage: 86.6 units
  • Deals 50% burst damage in an area with a 35% chance
  • Deals 13.7% burning damage with a 20.6% chance
  • Deals 10.33% more damage but reduces maximum HP by -6.88%
Katana
  • 2x Eye Ore
  • 2x Daemonite
  • 7x Darkwright
  • Base damage: 102.5 units
  • Deals 7.02% more damage, but reduces maximum HP by -4.68%

This is all the useful information about weapons in The Forge. We hope that it will help you learn about what types of weapons exist in the game, and how you can create the best swords and katanas.
