How to Get Tsukishiro Yanagi

In the first phase of version 1.3, the Section 6 Deputy Commander appeared in the banner, which increased her drop rate. In the future, this character will only be obtainable via Signal Search. Unfortunately, HoYoverse has never held an event that would reward a 5-star fighter, so you definitely won’t be able to get the pink-haired beauty for free.

Tsukishiro Yanagi's abilities and their priority pumping

You can read about the heroine's abilities in the game itself, so we decided to add it under the spoiler so as not to increase the size of the article. We also recommend that you study our combat system guide to better understand it.

Basic attacks

Tsukuyomi Kagura

Yanagi has two combat stances: waxing and waning moon. To launch, press the basic attack button (LMB). Yanagi performs up to 5 strikes in front of herself, inflicting physical or electrical damage depending on the active stance.

In battle, Yanagi receives a bonus from the corresponding stance:

  • Waxing Moon – Yanagi deals 10% more Electricity damage and gains increased Interruption Defense during Basic Attacks;
  • Waning Moon – Yanagi's Penetration % is increased by 10% and her Interruption Defense during Basic Attacks is increased.

After switching between stances, Yanagi retains the bonus of the previous stance for 8 seconds.

Evasion

Evasion: Wandering Breeze

Press the dodge button (RMB or L Shift) to quickly dodge while dashing. The heroine is invulnerable while using the skill.

Dash Attack: Flickering Shadow

To activate, press the basic attack button (LMB) while dodging. Jane slashes at enemies in front of her, dealing physical damage.

Counterattack after dodging: Instant Retaliation

To activate, press the Basic Attack button (LMB) after launching a Perfect Dodge. Yanagi slashes enemies in front of her, dealing electric damage. While using the skill, the heroine is invulnerable. After launching the technique, Yanagi can immediately go to the 3rd hit of the Basic Attack in the current stance.

Help

Quick Help: Graceful Blade Sweep

To activate, press the help button (Space) when the active character is thrown up. Yanagi slashes enemies in front of her, dealing electric damage. While using the skill, the heroine is invulnerable. After starting the technique, Yanagi can immediately move on to the 3rd hit of the basic attack in the current stance.

Defense Assist: Dazzling Retribution

To activate, press the help button (Space) when the character is about to be attacked. Yanagi parries enemy attacks, accumulating a lot of stun points on them.
While using the skill, the heroine is invulnerable..

Additional Attack Assist: Petal Slash

To activate, press the Basic Attack button (LMB) after using Defense Assist. Yanagi changes stance and quickly performs several slashes in front of her, dealing electric damage. The heroine is invulnerable while using the skill. After starting the technique, Yanagi can immediately proceed to the 3rd hit of the Basic Attack in the current stance.

Special Attacks

Special Attack: Ruten

To activate, press the Special Attack button (E). Yanagi performs a slash in front of her, dealing electric damage, and changes stance. While using this skill, the level of defense against interruption is increased.

If this attack is performed immediately after the 3rd, 4th, or 5th hit of a Basic Attack, the “Rapid Cycle” effect is activated, allowing Yanagi to strike faster and change stances. While the “Rapid Cycle” effect is active, Yanagi can block enemy attacks. By activating the “Rapid Cycle” effect, Yanagi can immediately move on to the 3rd hit of a Basic Attack for the current stance.

Enhanced Special Attack: Gekka Ruten

To activate, hold the Special Attack (E) button when Yanagi has enough energy. After building up her energy, Yanagi performs a quick thrust in front of her and then a downward thrust, dealing massive electrical damage.

After performing a thrust, Yanagi changes stance and enters the Shinrabanseh state for 15 seconds. If a basic attack is performed immediately after the 5th hit of a basic attack or after another move in this state, Yanagi will immediately go to the 3rd hit of a basic attack.

If a downward strike hits an enemy with an attribute anomaly, that enemy is additionally given a special Chaos effect, “Polarity Disruption,” which deals 18% of the initial Chaos damage to the enemy, plus additional damage equal to 730-3200% of Yanagi's anomaly knowledge. The “Polarity Disruption” effect does not remove the enemy from the attribute anomaly state. The heroine is invulnerable when using the skill. After starting the technique, Yanagi can immediately proceed to the 3rd strike of the basic attack in the current stance.

Attack Chains

Attack Chain: Heavenly Harmony

To activate, select an agent when the attack chain is triggered. Yanagi changes stance and performs a powerful slash on enemies in front of her, dealing massive electrical damage. The heroine is invulnerable while using the skill. After triggering the move, Yanagi can immediately go to the 3rd hit of the basic attack in the current stance.

Super Ability: Raiei Tenge

To activate, press the Ultimate (Q) button at max decibel level. Yanagi releases internal energy and slashes enemies in a large area in front of her very quickly, then strikes with lightning, dealing massive electrical damage.

When a lightning strike hits an enemy in an attribute anomaly state, it causes a special Chaos effect – Polarity Disruption. It deals damage equal to 18% of the original Chaos effect + 730-3200% of Yanagi's Anomaly Knowledge. Polarity Disruption does not remove the attribute anomaly from the target. The heroine is invulnerable while using the skill. After starting the technique, Yanagi can immediately go to the 3rd hit of the basic attack in the current stance.

Inclinations

Main Passive Skill: Lunar Eclipse

After Yanagi performs an enhanced special attack, when any party member applies the “Chaos” effect to an enemy, the Chaos damage multiplier increases by 175-350% for 15 seconds. When Yanagi hits an enemy with a special attack that is enhanced, she deals 10-20% more Electricity damage to that enemy for 15 seconds.

Additional Ability: Moon Phase

Activates if there is another character in the squad with the specialty “Anomaly” or with the same attribute. For 8 seconds after changing stances, the basic attack “Tsukuyomi Kagura” when hitting an enemy accumulates anomaly of the electric attribute 45% faster.

As for pumping up the heroine's talents, then the priority should be the inclinations and special attacks, as they allow you to increase the damage from Chaos and Polarity Disruption, which are the main source of Yanagi's damage. Next in importance are basic attacks and attack chains, which will allow you to further increase her overall DPS.

As soon as you maximize the specified abilities, you can move on to pumping up assistance, which you will often use to quickly move on to the 3rd hit of a basic attack. Pump up evasion last, as it provides noticeably less benefit than other skills.

Mental picture of Tsukishiro Yanagi

To open it, you need to accumulate Agent Profiles, which are given out when duplicates of the heroine fall out, which, of course, is random. Considering the small chance of getting 5-star characters, you will need to spend a lot of time and money to unlock all the mentals. However, even without them, Yanagi can easily play the role of a main DD.

The table below lists all the mentals, their descriptions and benefits for the heroine.

NameBonusUsefulness
Know Yourself, Know Your EnemyWhen any team member casts an attribute anomaly on an enemy, Yanagi gains 1 level of Clarity for 15 seconds (max 3 levels). Repeated casts refresh the duration of the effect. When Yanagi is hit by an enemy, she consumes 1 level of Clarity and gains invulnerability for 1 second. If Yanagi has 1 or more levels of Clarity, her knowledge of the anomaly increases by 80 points.Increases the heroine's survivability and increases her resistance to interruption, which is quite useful considering she has long chains of basic attacks. Plus, mentality can increase knowledge of anomaly, which increases the damage of Polarity Disruption. Overall, it brings medium-high benefit.
Excellent adaptabilityThe enhanced special attack's Quick Thrust builds up 15% more Electric Attribute Anomaly. If the Quick Thrust hits an enemy, hold down the special attack button to spend 10 more Energy and perform the Thrust again. If there is insufficient Energy or you release the button, Yanagi will automatically switch to a Down Strike. If the Down Strike hits an enemy with an Anomaly and inflicts Polarity Disorder on them, the damage multiplier increases to 25% of the initial Chaos value. Each additional Thrust increases this multiplier by 2.5%. This method can increase the damage multiplier up to 2 times. An extremely useful mental ability that essentially affects Yanagi's gameplay, allowing her to charge and increase the power of her enhanced special attack, adding an extra animation to the move. Again, the damage of Polarity Down is greatly increased.
Tsukishiro-style controlsBase attack, dodge, assist, special attack, chain attack level +2.Provides average utility.
GrandmasterWhen Yanagi deals attribute anomaly damage to an enemy, enemies enter the “See Through” state for 15 seconds. The attack penetration rate of enemies with the “See Through” effect increases by 16%.Just increases the heroine's overall damage by a relatively small amount. Brings average benefit.
Little Demon's MotherBase attack, evasion, assist, special attack, chain attack level +2.Brings average benefit.
Inhuman BloodAfter Yanagi performs a piercing strike with her Enhanced Special Attack, the Shinrabansei state lasts for 30 seconds. In this state, Yanagi's attack power is increased by 15% and her Enhanced Special Attack damage is increased by 20%. During the Superior Adaptability effect, the Polarity Shift bonus damage multiplier can be triggered 4 times, and the first 4 attacks consume half the energy.Significantly increases the heroine's damage, and for almost all attacks. However, you will have to spend significant resources to open this mentality, so it brings great benefits.

If you still decide to try your luck, you can stop at M1 and M2, thanks to which you can significantly increase Yanagi's damage from the Downed Polarity and even slightly change her gameplay. If you have a choice between the starting mentality and a signature weapon, then we advise you to take the second option, since the signature will bring more benefits.

How to play as Tsukishiro Yanagi

The first thing to remember is that she has two stances: Waxing Moon (blue) and Waning Moon (orange). The first one gives a bonus to electric damage, and the second one – to penetration. At the same time, you can have two buffs at the same time, since after changing the stance, the effect of the previous one lasts for another 8 seconds.

Yanagi in ZZZ (Zenless Zone Zero): guide to the best build

Yanagi in ZZZ (Zenless Zone Zero): guide to the best build

So if you want to get the most out of the heroine, we advise you to change her stance every 8 seconds. You can find out which buff is currently active by the special squares that hang above the character's portrait. We will add that this action also activates an additional passive skill that increases the accumulation of electrical anomaly.

If you look deeper into the basic attacks, you can notice that in the blue stance, Yanagi's strikes are more sweeping, so they are better suited for destroying large groups of ordinary mobs. In the orange stance, the strikes are a little faster and can interrupt enemy actions, so they are better suited for fighting elite enemies.

Luckily, changing stances is relatively easy, as there are several ways to do this:

  • Special Attack – Doesn't consume energy, so it can be performed at any time. It is recommended to use it in the middle of the rotation to refresh bonuses.
  • Enhanced Special Attack, Chain Attack, and Assist in Additional Attack are more convenient options, since Yanagi immediately goes to the 3rd hit of the basic attack, so it is easier to start the rotation with them.

It is recommended to play with the Enhanced Special Attack, as this will allow you to go into Sinrabance and start basic attacks from the 3rd hit for 15 seconds, that is, immediately inflict electric damage to the enemy. Plus, the “Lunar Eclipse” deposit is activated, which increases electric damage and gives a bonus to Chaos damage up to 250%, which, by the way, may seem like its gameplay is aimed specifically at causing this reaction, but in reality this is not entirely true.

Let us remind you that her enhanced special attack is capable of inflicting additional damage from the Polarity Disruption on an enemy with an anomaly, the amount of which at the 12th level of the ability is 3200% of the heroine's anomaly knowledge + 15% of the Chaos damage (do not forget that it largely depends on the characteristics of allies, so it is extremely important to pump up their equipment as much as possible).

Note that Polarity Disruption has a number of pleasant differences from regular Chaos. Firstly, it does not remove the anomaly, so you can call it several times in a row, and previously applied debuffs, such as Burning, will continue to affect the enemy. Secondly, its strength depends on the residual damage of the anomaly, so it is highly advisable to call Polarity Disruption as early as possible.

Thus, the general rotation for Yanagi will look like this:

  1. If there is no anomaly on the enemy, then first call it with the help of another character (otherwise, you will simply waste Yanagi's energy).
  2. Switch to Yanagi and immediately activate her Enhanced Special Attack, and then hit with basic attacks.
  3. After 8 seconds, change stance, perform a special attack to refresh the bonuses, and use basic attacks again.
  4. After 15 seconds of using a strengthened special attack, hold “E” again to reactivate Shinrabance and other buffs. Continue repeating this combo until victory.

However, of course, you first need to accumulate energy to perform the enhanced E, plus, you may not always have allies who can help in imposing the anomaly. Therefore, it is recommended to use the following combo: start hitting the enemy with normal attacks, and on the 3rd, 4th or 5th hit, use an accelerated special attack to immediately go to the 3rd hit of the basic attack, which deals electric damage, and then press “E” again after 1 or 2 hits. After accumulating energy, go to the rotation indicated above.

Let's add that the accelerated special attack not only allows you to move on to the 3rd hit, but also blocks enemy attacks if you press it right when the corresponding halo appears. So it can be used instead of dodging or assisting.

Advantages and disadvantages of Tsukishiro Yanagi

With the help of her unique abilities, the Section 6 operative can inflict significant electrical damage to both single targets and large groups of enemies. Her advantages also include:

  • She is an excellent main damage dealer, capable of constantly inflicting electrical damage by using a simple combo with a special attack or using an enhanced E-shka.
  • Pairs well with other Anomaly characters, especially those of other elements, as she provides a significant boost to Chaos damage.
  • However, she can also work in mono Electro squads due to the ability to deal additional damage from Polarity Disruption.
  • She can independently increase her electrical damage with the help of Inclinations.
  • In the Waning Moon stance, she can interrupt enemy attacks, which is very useful when fighting elite opponents and bosses.
  • She is not demanding of allies, so 4-star characters like Seth or Piper are quite suitable for her.
  • Her gameplay is relatively easy to master, and the build is not very resource-intensive.

Yanagi in ZZZ (Zenless Zone Zero): guide to the best build

However, Yanagi cannot be called an ideal character, since she also has her drawbacks:

  • The damage from Chaos and Polarity Blast is heavily dependent on Yanagi's allies, so you'll need to max out her companions with the right weapons and drive discs.
  • It may take some time to get used to the combo and time the stance changes and re-activation of the enhanced E correctly.
  • Doesn't play well with other Electro Anomaly characters (especially Grace), as you'll be applying Shock too often, which will prevent you from realizing its damage.
  • It is highly recommended to unlock the second mentality, as it significantly increases Yanagi's damage.

The best amplifiers

We recommend choosing a weapon that can increase the heroine's attack power and knowledge of the anomaly, and also, if possible, speed up her energy recovery. The table below presents the most interesting options.

NameCharacteristicsAbility and Usage

Yanagi in ZZZ (Zenless Zone Zero): Guide to the Best Build

Time Weaver

Base Attack: 48-714

Attack Power: 12-30%

Accelerates the accumulation of electrical anomaly by 30-50%. When a special or enhanced special attack hits an enemy in a state of attribute anomaly, the owner's anomaly knowledge increases by 75-115 units for 15 seconds. If the agent's anomaly knowledge with this item is at least 375, the wearer deals 25-35% more Chaos damage.

A signature weapon for Yanagi that enhances all of her aspects, allowing her to deal more damage with Polarity Knocked Down. If you have a choice between M1 and a signature weapon, then knock out the amplifier.

Janagi in ZZZ (Zenless Zone Zero): Guide to the Best Build

Built-in compiler

Base attack: 46-684

Penetration chance: 9.6-24%

Attack power increases by 12-24%. When launching a special attack or an enhanced special attack, the agent's knowledge of anomaly with this item increases by 25-50 units. The effect stacks up to 3 times, lasts 8 sec. The duration of each level is calculated separately.

Yanagi's chance of penetrating is not very important, but she will benefit from increasing attack power and knowledge of anomaly. She will activate the passive without any problems, since she often uses special attacks. Overall, this is a good amplifier, which, however, is inferior to the signature by 15%.

Janagi in ZZZ (Zenless Zone Zero): Guide to the Best Build

Firemaker Shaker

Base Attack: 48-714

Attack Power: 12-30%

Accelerates energy recovery outside of combat by 0.6-1.2 units/sec. When the owner hits an enemy with an enhanced special attack or assist in an attack, the agent's damage is increased by 3.5-7%. This bonus is triggered no more than once every 0.3 seconds, accumulates up to 10 times and lasts 6 seconds. While the wearer is out of combat, accumulation occurs 2 times more effectively, and repeated launches refresh the duration of the effect. When the agent receives a bonus to damage dealt, if the number of active charges of the effect is not less than 5, the agent's knowledge of the anomaly with this item increases by 50-100 units. This bonus does not stack and lasts 6 seconds.

Allows you to use the enhanced E-style more often and increases damage. It's just a pity that the bonuses accumulate more effectively when the heroine is in the pocket, and with Yanagi this will rarely happen, so it will still be less useful than the previous “gun”.

Yanagi in ZZZ (Zenless Zone Zero): guide to the best build

Electric Lip Gloss

Base attack: 40-594

Anomaly knowledge: 30-75

If there are enemies with an attribute anomaly on the battlefield, the attack power of the agent with this item increases by 10-16%, and the damage of the target agent by 15-25%.

At the 5th rank of improvement and with all active bonuses, it lags behind the signature item by about 16-18%. However, you can only get it from a paid BP, so it is better to spend extra money on knocking out the Time Weaver.

Yanagi in ZZZ (Zenless Zone Zero): Guide to the Best Build

Crying Twins

Base Attack: 40-594

Attack Power: 10-25%

When a squad member casts an attribute anomaly on an enemy, the agent with this item gains 1 additional level of the effect, increasing their knowledge of the anomaly by 30-48 units. This effect can be stacked up to 4 times and disappears if the target is released from the stun state or is destroyed. The duration of each effect is calculated separately.

Can be purchased from the toy store, and at the 5th rank of improvement, it lags behind the signature by only 20% (if all conditions are met). Stacks are collected quite quickly, especially in Chaos packs.

Yanagi in ZZZ (Zenless Zone Zero): guide to the best build

Roaring Car

Base Attack: 40-594

Attack Power: 10-25%

When an enhanced special attack hits an enemy, one random effect out of three is triggered for 5 sec. Triggers once every 0.3 sec., identical effects do not stack, repeated launches reset the duration. Different effects can exist simultaneously. Possible effects: – the attack power of the agent with this item increases by 8-12.8%; – the knowledge of the anomaly of the agent with this item increases by 40-64 units; – the efficiency of accumulation of the attribute anomaly increases by 25-40%.

Yanagi regularly uses an enhanced special attack, so she will not have problems with activating the passive. All three effects will be useful to her, as they will increase her damage.

Yanagi in ZZZ (Zenless Zone Zero): guide to the best build

Tropical Gourmet

Base attack: 40-594

Knowledge of anomaly: 30-75

For every 10 energy spent, the agent with this item gains an attack increase of 2.5-4% for 10 sec. The effect stacks up to 10 times, the duration of each level is calculated separately.

It will be able to gain stacks quite quickly due to the rapid expenditure of energy, which will significantly increase its damage. However, it is worth remembering that the bonus is only valid for 10 seconds, which means it will not last for the entire duration of Shinrabanseh.

The Best Drive Discs

NameBonusesAdvantages

Janagi in ZZZ (Zenless Zone Zero): Guide to the Best Build

Chaos Jazz (4 parts)

2 parts: Increases knowledge of anomaly by 30 units.

4 parts: Increases fire and electric damage by 15%. Damage from enhanced special attack and attack assistance outside the battlefield increases by 20%. When the character enters combat, this bonus lasts for another 5 seconds. It can appear no more than once every 7.5 seconds.

Gives a good increase in damage, but you will have to hide Yanagi in your pocket more often, and then bring her out on the field to activate the second passive. Of course, you should only spend this buff on an enhanced special attack. You can either further increase your knowledge of anomaly or electric damage by taking Freedom Blues or Thunderous Heavy Metal, respectively, or add a chance of penetration by equipping Fugu Electro.

Yanagi in ZZZ (Zenless Zone Zero): guide to the best build

Freedom Blues (4 parts)

2 parts: Increases knowledge of anomaly by 30 units.

4 parts: When hitting an enemy with an enhanced special attack, the enemy's resistance to the anomaly of the wearer's attribute is reduced by 20% for 8 seconds. Effects for one attribute do not stack.

Allows you to apply Electro Anomaly to an enemy faster, and therefore, to cause Polarity Disruption faster, which is very useful for the heroine. You can either further increase the knowledge of anomaly or electrical damage by taking Freedom Blues or Thunderous Heavy Metal respectively, or add a chance of penetration by equipping Fugu Electro.

Thunderous Heavy Metal (4 parts)

2 parts: Increase electrical damage by 10%.

4 pieces: If there is a Shocked enemy on the battlefield, the attack power of the agent with this item is increased by 28%.

A great option for a mono Electro pack or a squad with two attributes, as it will be easy for you to apply Shock to enemies and keep this status on them. It is recommended to get the knowledge of anomaly by taking Chaos Jazz/Freedom Blues.

2 parts: Increases knowledge of anomaly by 30 units.

2 parts: Increases the chance of penetration by 8%.

2 parts: Increases attack power by 10%.

All of these partial sets can be used in addition to the above sets. You can also assemble a set of 2+2+2 if you have the appropriate stats for the first time.

As for the main stats of the drive disks, your choice should look like this:

  • IV sector: knowledge of the anomaly.
  • V sector: bonus electrical damage (priority) or penetration chance%/attack power%.
  • VI sector: anomaly control (priority) or attack power%.
  • Substats: anomaly knowledge > attack power% > penetration chance

If we talk about recommended values of Yanagi's parameters, they should look something like this:

  • Attack: 2400-2900 units
  • Health: 9000+
  • Defense: 800+
  • Anomaly knowledge: 360-420 units
  • Anomaly control: 150-195 units
