All endings in Silent Hill f: how to get the true and good one

In Silent Hill f there is traditionally more than one ending. There are five endings available in the game, including the classic humorous UFO ending, and all of them are unlocked in New Game+, except for the first one, which you get by beating on any difficulty. In this guide, we will look in detail at how to open each ending and what conditions must be met to obtain them.

Ending No. 1 – Home to your native nest

Conditions for obtaining: this ending is the only one available on the first playthrough. No matter what decisions you make or what difficulty you play on, the result is always the same: the end of the story and a hint that Hinako's true ending is yet to come.

After the credits, you will be asked to save your game. This save launches New Game+, which opens the endings menu with general tips on what you need to do to get the next endings.

We recommendsaving after each ending obtained. Some players at the release of Silent Hill f had a problem with endings being read incorrectly if they were not saved into separate slots after finishing the game. This may be especially important if you plan to unlock the Silence in Ebisugaoka ending, which requires you to obtain multiple endings.

Explanation of the ending

This ending symbolizes the complete collapse of Hinako's personality. The pills Xiu gave her did not help; on the contrary, they only worsened her unstable condition. Hinako loses the ability to distinguish between reality and her internal images, and, unable to accept herself, she literally becomes what she herself was afraid of. If you carefully examined Ebisugaoka, you might have learned from the notes in advance that something was wrong with the medications.

Hinako's mind plays a cruel joke on her, broadcasting distorted images of loved ones and turning the wedding into an act of madness: Hinako kills not in her imagination, but in reality, then escaping in a bloody wedding dress. This ending is a metaphor for self-destruction, when internal conflicts completely devour a person, leaving behind only emptiness and regret.

Ending No. 2 – Fox Wedding

Receipt conditions: available only on the second playthrough. To open it, follow these steps:

  • Do not use red capsules. You can pick them up, but don't take them.
  • Don't pick up the sacred sword.
  • Find and pick up Hotei-sama's medicine in the Dark Shrine.

After that, complete the game as usual to get this ending.

Where to find Hotei-sama's medicine

Access to the Dark Sanctum appears exclusively in NG+ mode, starting from Chapter Nine. When the plot takes you to an alternate world and the mission with the pursuit of the Fox Mask is activated, climb the stairs to the room with the broken floor.

You can see a bloody trail on one of the walls – use Hinako's ability to open a secret passage. Behind it there is a narrow corridor leading to a locked door – it is behind it that the Abode of Crimson Water is hidden, where, in addition to this riddle, the necessary medicine is also located.

The bottle of Hotei-sama stands on the table in the temple, pick it up and finish the chase for the Fox Mask, as usual.

Explanation of the ending

At first glance, this ending seems happy, but in reality it is one of the darkest outcomes. Hotei-sama's use of the medicine destroys the part of Hinako – the part that fought against her inner demons. In return, all that remains is a submissive, idealized version of the wife, created for the sake of other people's expectations.

Xiu, blinded by his feelings, is unable to accept the girl’s independence, and his actions lead to the loss of her personality. Even when Hinako saves him from final collapse, she herself disappears into her monstrous image, having lost her humanity.

The post-credits epilogue heightens the tragedy as Hinako, crippled and terrified, remains trapped in an endless nightmare. Her face, contorted with misery, is the embodiment of the fear of losing herself in an effort to please others, something she tried to avoid at all costs.

Ending #3 – The Fox Got His Tail Wet

Receipt Conditions: Follows almost the same actions as the previous ending, but with one key difference:

  • Do not use red capsules.
  • Take the sacred sword, but do not clean it.

Thus, you leave the sword desecrated, which directly affects the perception of the ending and its symbolism.

Where to find the sacred sword

To find the sacred sword, you first need to find five Jizo statues scattered throughout different chapters of the game. Each of them requires a special offering – an item related to Hinako's history and past. You can find these things by following the clues from the photos that appear in the same chapters where the corresponding statue is located.

All found items can be collected even on repeated visits to the location, so don't worry if you missed them the first time.

Explanation of the ending

This ending depicts an escape from other people's expectations. At the last moment, Hinako realizes that she is not ready for marriage and leaves the ceremony. Shu remains nearby, and Kotoyuki appears as a spirit-possessed nine-tailed fox who wants to take Hinako to another world. However, the girl rejects this call and gets a chance to free herself from the past.

Understanding flares up between Shu and Kotoyuki – they see in each other not enemies, but reflections of former friendship. The ending is shrouded in fog – a symbol of uncertainty. Hinako and Shu go into it together, but the question remains: was she really saved, or was she just running from herself?

Ending No. 4 – Silence in Ebisugaoka (true)

Receipt conditions: this ending can be called the true ending of Silent Hill f. To open it, you need to fulfill a number of conditions:

  • Start New Game + +
  • Get two other endings, except UFO. They are marked with icons in the save list.
  • Do not use red capsules.
  • Receive and purify the sacred sword.
  • Offer the fox brooch to the Jido statue.

After that, continue the passage as usual. All conditions must be met before entering Shimizu's house.

How to cleanse a sacred sword

After you obtain the sword by making offerings to the Jido statues, you need to cleanse it. To do this, firstly, you need to solve the Crimson Water riddlein a parallel world. We described how to do this in a separate guide.

Secondly, after the Crimson Water puzzle is solved, go to the shrine behind Xiu's house to dip the sword in the water and purify it. Once cleansed, the sword will lose its ability to regenerate while inactive.

How to make an offering of a brooch to the Jido statue

The statue is hidden near Hinako's house as you climb up the mountain path. On the right side of the stairs, among the bushes, there is a path. After walking along it, you will find a statue of Jizo, where you can leave a brooch.

If you have not started a New Game + +, the path to the statue will be blocked by flesh and red flowers.

Explanation of the ending

The true ending reflects Hinako's spiritual awakening. She finally admits that she is not obliged to follow the imposed expectations – to be the “perfect bride” or “the daughter who does not let the family down.” Instead, she accepts her own vulnerability and decides to live in harmony with herself.

Kotoyuki also changes: he realizes that his feelings for Hinako were dictated by pressure and the desire to live up to other people's roles. Together they let go of the past, promising to move towards a future where both, together or apart, will be ready to find happiness.

In a symbolic sense, both versions of Hinako achieve reconciliation. The silence that comes after stormy events speaks of inner peace. For the first time in the entire game, Hinako becomes a complete person, free from guilt, illusions and imposed images.

Ending No. 5 – Space Invasion

Receipt conditions: traditionally for the Silent Hill series there is this comic ending. To open it, do the following:

At the beginning of the game, after the chase scene, you can find a narrow alley. In it, find an arch made of scrap metal next to the trash can. There is a radio hidden behind it – turn it on and listen to the message. After that, all that remains is to find two more radios and listen to them. You can find all places with receivers in the screenshots below:

In addition, in the next playthroughs you can get a unique weapon, a light saber – PP-8001. It drops from the sky when interacting with any poster on a new playthrough. The sword does not break and has its own slot in the inventory.

Silent Hill f encourages repeat playthroughs, because each new attempt opens up new facets of Hinako's story. Some endings require restrictions in your usual actions, others require attentiveness, and the fifth completely turns a dark horror into a sci-fi parody. If you want to see the true ending and collect all the achievements, prepare for several trips to Ebisugaoka, because this is the only way to find out the whole truth hidden behind the fog.
