In Dead Space Remake 2023, Obelisk Fragments are special collectibles that unlock an alternate ending and unlock the Reunion achievement. In this guide, we will tell you where to find all 12 monolith parts and what to do with them.

However, we note right away that they will appear on Ishimura only after you start the New Game +, which opens after beating the game for the first time on any difficulty level. You can transfer all your accumulated progress into it and upgrade your suit to level 6 (can be bought in the store for 99,000 credits), as well as get additional resources, but in this mode you will find a new enhanced type of opponent – phantom necromorphs.
It is necessary to collect fragments of the obelisk strictly in order. If you miss even one of them, then you will have to start all over from the beginning, as the game does not allow you to replay certain chapters. So be careful when collecting them. Where to find obelisk fragments in Dead Space (2023)
Obelisk fragment 1
- Storyline: Chapter 1 – Arrival
- Objective: Find the Data Board
At the beginning of the game, you will be asked to start the monorail by completing two tasks: replace the damaged car and find the data tablet. Go to the mission section and start tracking the second target, then follow the marker to the Maintenance Bay.
When you get there, you need to take the elevator up and use the Circuit Breaker, to redirect power to the maintenance room.
Once you've done that, go back down the elevator and look on the map for a room marked “Maintenance Office” (in the lower right corner of the maintenance bay). Head here to find the information board.
However, before you pick it up, turn right and you'll see a purple glowing object on a shelf – it's a marker fragment. You won’t be able to take it right away, you must first bring down the regiment with a melee attack.
Obelisk Fragment 2
- Storyline: Chapter 2 – Critical Care
- Objective: Find a Shock Pad
Soon after the chapter starts, you will have to destroy the barricade blocking the morgue. To do this, you need to fulfill two goals: find a reservoir of hydrazine and find a shock absorber. Start tracking the second task.
Follow the marker to reach the Main Lab. Once you get there, the room will be quarantined and all doors will be locked until you kill all the enemies (on both floors).
Once the lockdown is lifted, look on the map for an office marked “Dr. T. Kine, Chief Scientist” (located on the bottom floor). This office has a hidden room hidden behind a large set of shelves.
Use your kinesis ability to move the shelves and open access to the secret room you are inside locate the desired fragment.
Obelisk Fragment 3
- Storyline: Chapter 3 – Orbital Correction
- Objective: Manually Ignite the Engines
After fighting the giant tentacle and passing through the decontamination area, take the freight elevator upstairs and solve a simple stasis puzzle with several fans. Next, go through a heavily infested area to get into the Engine Room.
Clear the area of enemies and find a small alcove marked Power Sub-Station 003.
Stand up to it facing, turn left and look into the dark area a little behind and you will find the third obelisk fragment in the shadows.
Obelisk fragment 4
- Storyline: Chapter 4 – Death is inevitable
- Objective: Reroute Power from Electrical Systems
Select the indicated target and follow the marker. You will take the elevator down to the 3rd floor of the bridge (Bridge). Once there, find the Break Room on the map – this is the southernmost room. Go to this location and look for a monolith piece on the floor.
Obelisk Fragment 5
- Storyline: Chapter 5 – Deadly Addiction
- Objective: Lift the Lockdown
After you meet Mercer and then complete the “Escape the Creature” objective, you will be given the next lockdown objective. Follow the tracker line to reach a small office marked “Dr. S. Mercer – 2SO”. As soon as you enter the office, you will see a fragment lying on the table.
Obelisk fragment 6
- Plot: Chapter 5 – Deadly Addicted
- Objective: Acquire the Liquid Nitrogen
The indicated objective will lead you to the Cryogenics location, where you must you will pick up liquid nitrogen before the battle with the Hunter, which ends with you using stasis on him, and then freezing him in a large cryogenic chamber.
Before you take liquid nitrogen and start the battle, stand outside the cryogenic chamber and go around it, looking up – so you will see the sixth fragment.
You won't be able to reach him, so use kinesis to pull him towards you. If you engage the Hunter first, don't worry as the fragment will still be on top of the chamber after freezing the enemy.
Obelisk Fragment 7
- Storyline: Chapter 6 – Dangerous Ingredients
- Objective: Eliminate Inject Wheezer 07
After obtaining the target, you will have to stand in the corner right on the upper deck of the East Growth Chamber (East Grow Chamber).
Use your weightlessness to fly to the opposite corner of the room and you can see the fragment hidden in a small niche.
Obelisk Fragment 8
- Storyline: Chapter 7 – Step into the Void
- Objective: Find the SOS Beacon (Find the SOS Beacon)
As soon as you receive the admin access key, your clearance level will go up to 3. Before you start following the story marker, find a room on the map called “Mineral Samples”, which is located on the left side of the Mineral Processing Area.
Go to the indicated room and use the new access key to enter it. The fragment will sit on a shelf.
Obelisk Fragment 9
- Storyline: Chapter 8 – Search and Rescue
- Objective: Activate the Comms Array )
In order to complete said objective, you need to solve a puzzle using stasis to connect shapes to nodes. Part of the monolith can be easily overlooked as it is quite far from the puzzle.

Stand facing the communication control screen, and then go all the way to the left. You will see a fragment in a small corner inside the wall.
Obelisk Fragment 10
- Storyline: Chapter 10 – The Last Days
- Objective: Destroy the tentacle in the Elite Rooms (Destroy Tendril in Deluxe Quarters)
This is the second tentacle that you will need to kill. After arriving at the indicated area, clear the quarantine room. Once you've done that, exit this room and walk down the corridor to the Elite Sleeper Beds to get the Power Pack.
Take the battery back to the corridor and place it in the power cell to turn on the Breaker. Use it to open the doors and then return to the Elite Rooms you came from.
To the south is a room called Deluxe Shift Bunks – the door to it is now open. You will find a monolith piece on a table.
Obelisk Fragment 11
- Storyline: Chapter 10 – The Last Days
- Objective: Destroy the tentacle in the General Manager's Office ( Destroy Tendril in Chief Steward's Office)
This is the fourth tentacle that you need to kill. As soon as you enter the General Manager's Office, you will see a cutscene featuring Dr. Kine, after which the door to the inquiry desks will open. There you will find not only your main target, but also a piece of the monolith standing on the table.
Obelisk Fragment 12
- Storyline: Chapter 11 – Alternative Solutions
- Objective: Use the Loading Crane (Engage the Cargo Crane)
When you reach the cargo bay, you will receive the above task. However, instead of doing it, head to the southeast corner of the cargo area, where you will see the last fragment of the obelisk – it will be lying on a shelf.
What to do with Obelisk Fragments in Dead Space 2023
After collecting all 12 parts of the monolith, in no case proceed to the 12th chapter of the story, otherwise you will not be able to see the alternative ending. Head to the nearest monorail (if you are still in the cargo hold, it is located near the elevator), get on it and go to the living quarters (Crew Quarters).
From here, go to the administrative quarters (Executive Quarters ). It's easy to get lost here, so follow this route: from the monorail go straight ahead and through the door marked “To Crew Deck” and then through the door marked “Common Area”.

Keep going straight ahead and move left a bit to go through the door marked “Central Nexus”. Take the elevator to the 1st floor – when you get there, go through the other door of the Central Junction, move forward, and once you get through the broken window, turn right and take the freight elevator.
Go through the top level until you see a door marked “To Executive Quarters”. Once you're there, go through a couple more doors and follow the only path until you reach a large room. To your left is a door marked “Captain B Mathius” – that's where you need to go.
You will see twelve dimples on the table – go up and place the obelisk fragments in them. As a result, you will hear one line of dialogue. Now continue the passage of the story, in the final of which you will see an alternative ending.
