In Honkai Star Rail, Night in Big Mine 1 is a Jarilo-VI adventure mission, during which you have to pass the test of the senior cart operator several times, correctly pushing the carts along the railway tracks. If you're having trouble getting and completing the quest, please check out our guide.
Night at the Big Mine 1 walkthrough
How to start the quest
Before Before you can take on this quest, you will need to meet a couple of conditions, namely:
- Achieve at least level 14 of Mastery.
- Complete the exploration mission “Lying in the Rust” from the “Into the Dry Winter Night” quest chain.
After you have dealt with the above requirements, move to Kamnegrad to the Goethe Hotel and look for the girl there named after Antonin. An exclamation mark should hang above her head. Talk to her and agree to help her. This will start the first job in the chain.
Chat with the operator
Teleport to the Rogue Hideout Dimensional Anchor in the Big Mine, and then head west and look for a character there called the Chief Cart Operator. Enter into a dialogue with him. It will tell you what's what.
Note: If you make a mistake with minecart directions, you can then approach to the operator and ask him to return the carts back, thereby resetting the puzzle.
The first puzzle with checking the carts
You will need to place empty carts near the blue stoppers, and loaded carts next to the yellow stoppers. Use the ore piles to load and empty carts. If the minecart is not moving, then use a switch to change the direction of the path.

In the first puzzle, you have to drag the cart to the blue stopper. To do this, go to the path switch near the cart and click on it. Then interact with the 2nd switch. Now approach the trolley and push it so that it reaches the place you need. The screenshot below shows all the necessary steps.
After completing the test, return to the operator and talk to him again. Then a regular chest will appear. Collect the treasure and talk to the man again to take on the next task.
Second minecart puzzle
First of all, run to the empty cart and push it so that it rests on a regular stopper, as shown in the screenshot below. Next, approach the loaded cart and push it so that it rolls back to the fork (see second picture).
Then click on the switch next to the colored stoppers. Return to the loaded cart and push it (you need to stand behind it so that it goes forward) – it will immediately go to the yellow stopper. The first part of the puzzle is solved.
Stand behind the empty cart and push it back to its original position. Next, click on the nearest lever to rotate the rails. Now click on the 2nd switch so that the yellow arrows point to the blue stopper. Push the empty cart and it will come straight to the blue barrier.
The pictures above show all the necessary steps. Talk to the operator to receive a reward – a regular chest. Then move on to the third puzzle.
Third minecart-checking puzzle
First, you will need to load an empty cart with ore. To do this, push it so that it goes forward and rests on the usual stopper. Then click on the 2nd switch shown in the screenshot below. Push the cart from behind again and it will drive towards the crystals.
Approach the cart and select the “Load Ore” option. Once it's full, stand behind it and push it again to return the cart to the main path.

Once again interact with the second crank to return the cart to its original position. At the end, press the first lever and push the cart one last time, bringing it straight to the yellow stop.
You have completed the third challenge. Talk to the operator and take the valuable chest. This task will come to an end. Wait until the next calendar day to start the Night in the Big Mine 2 quest.
