In God of War Ragnarok, the Desert Door is a request that requires you to find two half the key to open the door in the Forbidden Sands and fight Stonemaw. For killing this boss, you will receive 2 teeth and 1 dragon claw. In this guide, you will learn how to start this side mission, find the keys and defeat the lizard.
Walking the Desert Door
How to start the quest
After completing the main quest “The Secret of Groa” (Alfheim), get to the Mystic Gate in Strand and go right to enter the Quarries. Pass through this location to get to the Plains, where you will immediately be given the task “The Secret of the Sands” – complete it to calm the storm in this area.
Then complete the “Payback” (Vanaheim) story mission to obtain a new skill that will help you unlock the entrance to the Forbidden Sands, located in the northwestern part of the Plains. After arriving at the indicated location, take on the additional tasks “Song of the Sands” and “Gift of Freyr”.
Now you can get to work finding the two halves of the key needed to open the desert door. As soon as you pick up the first half, the corresponding quest will start.
Where to find key halves in the desert
The halves of the key are hidden in the center of the blue circles with stones. They stand out quite strongly from the rest of the desert, so they can be seen from afar (if there is no sandstorm). However, there are several such circles, so if you do not know the exact location of the desired objects, then it can take quite a lot of time to search for them.

The screenshots above show both halves of the key. The first is located in the southwestern part of the location, and the second is located in the southeast.

Now move to the northern part of the Forbidden Sands. There you will find a huge door. Interact with her to insert the key and unlock the gate. After that, the boss will immediately attack you.
How to kill Stonemaw
The boss can deal quite a bit of damage with his attacks, but most of them have nicely long standby animations, making it easy to dodge them. Most often, he makes unblockable bites and tail attacks that break the block (can only be parried). His most dangerous strike is the stomp of his feet and the creation of a direct shock wave – jump to the side to dodge it.

Immediately after spawning, the Puffer will dash towards you – dodge it to avoid taking damage. Next, pay attention to the two yellow marks on the front legs of the monster. You need to hit them with spears (they will turn red) and then blow them up. As a result, the enemy will be knocked down, and you will be able to attack him with impunity for 5-10 seconds. We recommend that you use all your runic attacks, abilities and companion skills at this very moment to inflict maximum damage on the dragon.
Since the enemy delivers the most dangerous blows in front of him, try to stay near his sides and attack his legs. Thus, you can relatively safely attack him, without fear of getting retaliatory damage. However, you should not rush and be overly aggressive, otherwise you can easily miss an enemy attack, forgetting to block or dodge in time. There will be no rage or health crystals in this fight, so use Spartan Valor for healing.

When the boss is below half health, he will start performing his Unblockable Attacks two or even three times in a row, so after the first dodge, be ready to do a couple more dodges.
Having dealt with Puffer Tooth will complete the quest. As a reward, you will be given 1000 experience points for Kratos, 250 experience points for Freya, 2 teeth and 1 dragon claw, as well as Alfheim's Luck (amulet enchantment) and Gambantein Skirnir (required for crafting relics).
