In Lethal Company, doors can be of different types. Some of them are open, while others are closed, and often to open the latter you need to use various tools, ranging from ordinary keys to a terminal on board the ship. In this guide, we will look at all types of doors and tell you how to open them.
How to open doors in Lethal Company
In general, all doors in the game can be divided into two types: normal and security (sliding). The former can be either open or closed, while the latter are always locked by default. They are unlocked in different ways.
How to open a regular door
Simple metal doors (an example is shown in the picture below) can be opened using keys. Unfortunately, you cannot purchase keys in a store – they can only be found inside the object. They are randomly generated next to other scrap metal, but can usually be found near a locked door.
Having found the key, transfer it to the active inventory slot to pick it up, and then go to the closed door and interact with it by pressing the left mouse button. The lock will instantly open and you will be able to move on, but the key will disappear, meaning you cannot reuse it.
Note: There may well be a situation in which you end up with extra keys. In this case, do not throw them away! It's better to take them to your ship and save them, as you can later use them to complete the next mission on another moon. You can also sell them for 3 credits.
If you still can’t find the keys to open ordinary doors or are too lazy to search for them, then you can simply purchase a Lockpicker from the store for 20 credits. This tool is capable of opening any lock, and it will not disappear after use, that is, you can even unlock several doors with it.
But the master key does not open the door immediately, but only after half a minute. During this period of time, you may well be killed by the monster chasing you. Plus, it weighs a lot, so your movement speed will slow down a bit when you're holding it. So we still recommend using keys.
Using a master key is very simple – pick it up from your inventory, go to the door that needs to be unlocked, and then click on the LMB. The tool will “stick” to the lock – now you need to wait 30 seconds until it breaks the keyhole. After this, the device will fall to the floor, so be sure to pick it up.
How to open the security door through the terminal
Sometimes you will come across large iron sliding doors (the picture below shows an example) that cannot be opened with a key or master key. Such structures can only be unlocked using a terminal located on a spaceship. For this reason, it is highly desirable that one of the team members remain on the transporter.
This player must enter the view monitor command into the computer to see a mini-map on the screen showing the location of his comrades. He can switch between them using the command switch [user nickname].
An ally who finds himself near a locked iron door must radio the coordinator about his problem. At the same time, he can immediately tell him the door number, which is often marked on its upper right corner. However, the player will see the desired combination on the map without this. After this, he only needs to enter the values into the computer (in our case it is r4) and press the “Enter” key.
If you did everything correctly, you should see the inscription “Broadcasted Special Code” and an open door icon in the lower right corner of the monitor. Note that locked doors are marked on the map with red rectangles, and open ones with green rectangles.
Note: You can also try to find and remove the hardware (apparatus) from the object's electrical system to turn off its power and open all locked doors. However, in this case the lighting will also be turned off.
How to close doors
Ordinary doors cannot be re-locked with a key. You can only lock the sliding metal door. This is easy to do – re-enter her number in the terminal. The rectangle on the map should turn red.
Why do you need to close the doors at all? Thus, you can lure monsters inside the premises, and then close them there, blocking all the doors. Most monsters will not be able to escape from such a trap. Plus, this way you can make fun of your friends by locking them in dark spaces.
