Guarantor in Honkai Star Rail: how to calculate soft and 50/50

In Honkai: Star Rail, the guarantor is a special system that allows you to get a 5-star character or a light cone with a 100% chance through a certain number of Jumps. In this guide, we will tell you how this mechanism works and how the soft guarantee and 50/50 are calculated.

In the final section, using the example of different banners, we will indicate the number of twists and star jade needed to get certain heroes and weapons. This will allow you to roughly calculate your possible costs.

How the guarantee system works in Honkai: Star Rail

This is the number of Jumps you need to complete during the gacha before you are guaranteed drop a fighter or light cone with a rarity of 4 or 5 stars. However, there is always a chance to get these objects before reaching the corresponding number.

Number of Jumps for a guaranteed drop:

  • 4-star light cone – 10 tries
  • < li>4-star character – 10 attempts

  • 5-star light cone – 80 attempts
  • 5-star character – 90 attempts

This means that if after the 9th jump you still didn't get a 4-star weapon or hero, then on the 10th attempt you are guaranteed to get a drop with a rarity of 4 stars or higher.

This goes for more rare items – if after spin 89 (weapon spin 79) you still haven't got a 5-star gear or fighter, then your next attempt with a 100% chance will bring you a legendary drop.

For what you need to know guarantor

By jumping in standard or event banners, you will, sooner or later, get a legendary light cone or a hero. However, knowing approximately how many attempts you have left before the drop, you will be able to spend your Star Jades and Passes more efficiently.

How to determine the number of turns to the guarantor

You do not need to write down the information about all the characters and light cones you receive, as it can be viewed in the banner menu in the “History” section. This page shows all the 4- and 5-star items that have dropped, so you can easily calculate how many prayers you have left to complete the desired hero or weapon.

Note: Each banner has its own guarantor counter (read more about this below), so you can select the type of Jump you want at the top of the screen.

Soft guarantor

While the base chance of getting a 5-star character is 0.6%, players have discovered a hidden guarantor system called soft pity that increases this chance after a certain number of tries. After the 75th spin in the event and standard banners, the probability of 0.6% will gradually increase to 20%, and then reach 100% on the 90th jump (hard guarantee or hard pity), that is, starting from the 75th attempt , you will have an increased chance of getting a 5-star hero.

The same goes for the “Sparkling Fix” weapon banner, although in it the soft guarantee starts around the 65th twist, also increasing the base 0, 8% to 20% on final attempts, and then reaching 100% chance on the 80th jump.

50/50 Rule: Drop random characters and weapons

When you get a 5-Star Hero in Event Jump: Character, there is a 50% chance that it will be a fighter that is not related to the banner you are jumping on. This situation is called the 50/50 rule.

If you did not get the hero indicated in the banner, then it is guaranteed to drop out to you at the next guarantor. In this case, a new countdown will be conducted after the soft guarantor.

An illustrative example: Let's say you started spinning the Butterfly on the Edge banner, but unexpectedly got a Cheetah on your 50th try . This situation is a 50/50 loss, so you will need to perform from 1 to 90 jumps again in order to now have a 100% chance of getting Zele.

If you are lucky and you win 50/50, then the guarantor for the drop of a specific hero in the event banner will still be 50%. This will continue until you draw a standard legendary character again.

Each of the three banners (Event Jump: Character, Event Jump: Light Cone and Star Jump) has its own guarantor meter. It resets when you receive a 5 star drop.

Note: This rule does not apply to the “Starting Jump”, which disappears from the banner list after the 50th attempt. But on its basis, the reroll method is built, which allows you to get the desired 5-star hero at the very beginning of the game.

If a temporary banner expires on a hero or light cone, its counter is transferred to the next event banner. Let's say you spent 68 jumps to drop Kafka, but did not have time to get it, as the prayer for the Silver Wolf began. In this case, you will not need to start all over again, that is, the “she-wolf” is guaranteed to fall out already on the 22nd spin (unless a soft guarantee occurs or you lose 50/50).

Let's add that you don't have to spin one banner consecutively for the guarantor system to work, since attempts for each of them are counted separately. Getting a rare character or weapon in one of them resets the counter only in it, without affecting the others.

Light Cone Guarantor in the Sparkling Fix banner

It works quite differently than “Incarnation of the Divine” weapon banner from Genshin Impact, requiring 2 Fate points to be guaranteed to drop the event weapon. Everything is somewhat simpler here – the probability of a banner light cone falling out is 75%. If you get a different weapon, then in the next 80 jumps with a 100% chance you will get an event cone.
